Sensor Validation for an Air Handling Unit (공조 시스템의 센서 고장 검증 기술)

  • In order to improve the operational reliability, it is necessary to validate the measured sensor data, isolate any failed sensor and recover the failed critical measurement. This paper describes the use of estimating equation to identify failed sensors and to recover the feedback signal for control purpose when the sensor measurement is determined to be erroneous Simulation results show that the proposed sensor validation scheme can adequately identify the failed sensor and provide reasonable estimates for control purposes.

  • This paper presents general concept of DC switch gear(DCSWGR). Normally, DCSWGR consist of Digital protection unit(DPU), High Speed Circuit Breaker(HSCB), Disconnect Switch (DS), Programmable Logic Control(PLC), Auxiliary Relays and etc. Most of the components has its special characteristics and their interface between each others are various and complex. In this paper every constituent general design are preceded and interface between each component are examined. And also DCSWGR operation logic with logical diagram including interlock signal are introduced.

  • The necessity of voice recording device was increased using voice signal IC with designed LSI/VLSI. The control unit which developed here voice recorder has low power dissipation, portable, and comfortable using voice source. However, the Korea voice recorder abilities far behind of foreign products for its performance and size on sailing. So we used Chua circuit to improvement voice quality abilities after minimize power supply device and circuit by designing voice recording device into lower power dissipation power circuit.

  • In this research, a transmission control unit was developed for a wheel loader on the basis of 16-bit microcontroller system. The TCU has the basic functions which include shifting control algorithm, actuation of six proportional solenoid valves, signal conditioning for four speed sensors, remote data monitoring capability with RF-module and duty cycle identification system which could identify the duty cycles from PWM signals. In order to design the control system, the overall transmission structure of the wheel loader was investigated and its characteristics of shifting were analyzed in advance. For the purpose of identifying the existing control algorithm and acquire some information about the shifting performance, the shifting experiments were performed for various shifting conditions with the conventional TCU. From the previous work on the conventional TCU, the shifting scheme was designed with the open-loop control which is based on the experimental data only to verify the feasibility of the developing TCU's shilling capability. The experimental results show comparable shifting characteristics to that of conventional TCU though the tests were performed at restricted shilling conditions. Hence, we could have the confidence for the development of the wheel loader automatic transmission TCU and its shifting quality could be improved with the adoption of appropriate feedback control scheme.

  • We have developed biological signal measurement modules and data acquisition and control card for a biological signal measurement, archiving, and communication system (SiMACS). Biological signals included in this system are ECG, EEG, EMG, invasive blood pressure, respiration, and temperature. Parameters of each module can be controlled by PC-base IDPU (intelligent data processing unit) through a data acquisition and control card. The data acquisition and control card can collect up to 16 channels of biological signals with sampling rate of $50\;{\sim}\;2,000Hz$ and 12-bit resolution. All measurement moduls and data acquisition functions are controlled by microcontroller which receives commands from PC. All data transfers among PC, microcontroller, and ADC are done through a shared RAM access by polling method for real rime operation.

  • The operational effect of traffic signal control improvement was evaluated using the Two-Fluid Model. The parameters engaged in the Two-Fluid Model becomes food indicators to measure the quality of traffic flow due to the improvement of traffic signal operation. A series of experiment were conduced for the 31 signalized intersections in Uijeongbu City. To estimate the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model the trajectory informations of individual vehicles were collected using the CORSIM and Run Time Extension. The test results showed 35 percent decrease of average minimum trip time per unit distance. One of the parameters in the Two-Fluid Model is a measure of the resistance of the network to the degraded operation with the increased demand. The test result showed 28 percent decrease of this parameter. In spite of the simulation results of the arterial flow, it was concluded that the Two-Fluid Model is useful tool to evaluate the improvement of the traffic signal control system from the macroscopic aspect.

The Controller Design of a 2.4MJ Pulse Power Supply for a Electro-Thermal-Chemical Gun (전열화학포용 2.4MJ 펄스 파워 전원의 제어기 설계)

  • The key issues in high power, high energy applications such as electromagnetic launchers include safety, reliability, flexibility, efficiency, compactness, and cost. To explore some of the issues, a control scheme for a large current wave-forming was designed, built and experimentally verified using a 2.4MJ pulse power system (PPS). The PPS was made up of eight capacitors bank unit, each containing six capacitors connected in parallel. Therefore there were 48 capacitors in total, with ratings of 22kV and 50kJ each. Each unit is charged through a charging switch that is operated by air pressure. For discharging each unit has a triggered vacuum switch (TVS) with ratings of 200kA and 250kV. Hence, flexibility of a large current wave-forming can be obtained by controlling the charging voltage and the discharging times. The whole control system includes a personal computer(PC), RS232 and RS485 pseudo converter, electric/optical signal converters and eight 80C196KC micro-controller based capacitor-bank module(CBM) controllers. Hence, the PC based controller can set the capacitor charging voltages and the TVS trigger timings of each CBM controller for the current wave-forming. It also monitors and records the system status data. We illustrated that our control scheme was able to generate the large current pulse flexibly and safely by experiments. The our control scheme minimize the use of optical cables without reducing EMI noise immunity and reliability, this is resulting in cost reduction. Also, the reliability was increased by isolating ground doubly, it reduced drastically the interference of the large voltage pulse induced by the large current pulse. This paper contains the complete control scheme and details of each subsystem unit.

  • In this study, an automatic idle stop control system was developed, which automatically stops the idle state engine as it detects the stop state of the car for several seconds and restarts the stopped engine with the driver's electrical signal. It is composed of microprocessor and the related electronic circuits and communicates with ECU and TCU. With accurate and confirmed operating performance, the control system was equipped in the test car which was proceeded the ECE15+EUDC mode test. It is confirmed that the control system, ASG has much favourable effects on reducing the fuel consumption and harmful exhaust emissions.

  • This paper is concerned with the design of the beam forming module that is a key unit of the active phased array antenna(APAA) system for mobile satellite communications. This module includes two blocks for main signal and tracking signal. Main signal block has the role of transmitting input signal from phased array antenna to tracking signal block. And, tracking signal block executes main roles, beam forming of tracking signal and electronic beam control. The several electrical performances of this module, phase characteristics and linear gain, etc., agreed with specifications needed fur APAA, and for more clear verification of the performances, the satellite communication test of the APAA including the modules was accomplished in the outdoors.

A study on Development of 300m Class Underwater ROV (300m급 수중ROV 개발에 관한 연구)

  • A 300 meter class ROV(CROV300) is composed of three parts : a surface unit, a tether cable and an underwater vehicle. The vehicle controller is based on two processors : an Intel 8097-16-bit one chip micro-processor and a Texas Instruments TMS320E25 digital signal processor. In this paper, the surface controller, the vehicle controller and peripheral devices interfaced with the processors are described. These controllers transmit/receive measured status data and control commands through RS422 serial communication. Depth, heading, trimming, camera tilting, and leakage signals are acquired through the embedded AD converters of the 8097. On the other hand, altitude of ROV and lbstacle avoidance signals are processed by the DSP processor and periodically fetched by the 8097. The processor is interfaced with a 4-channel 12-bit D/A converter to generate control signals for DC motors an dseveral transistors to handle the relays for on/off switching of external devices.
