A Study of Physiology Signal Change by Air Conditioner Temperature Change (에어컨 온도변동에 따른 생리신호 변화에 관한 연구)

  • This study evaluates thermal comfort by air conditioner temperature raising at the point of time that human body begins to adapt. Thermal comfort according to change of time enters by uncomfortable area gradually at general cold room temperature that magnetic pole is in human body. However, can know that keep continuous thermal comfort in case raise temperature in human body adaptation visual point. Experiments were performed in environmental chamber. Subjects were selected 4 men and 4 women whose life cycle were proved that are similar. The subjects stay in the pretesting room during the 30 minutes and enter the testing room under each experiment conditions. During the experiment, brain wave, electrocardiogram, blood pressure and thermal comfort and sensation responses were measured. In this study, physiological and psychological responses correspond under temperature raising at human body adaptation.

  • To diagnosis abnormal compressor conditions in an air-conditioner, the acoustic emission (AE) signal, which is derived from wear condition, compressed air, and assembly error, was analyzed experimentally. Burst and continuous type AE signals resulted from metal contact and compressed air, and the raw AE signal of compressors was acquired in the production line. After extracting samples using waveforms, the Early Life Test (ELT) was conducted and the waveform was classified as normal or abnormal. Efficient parameters in the waveform pattern were investigated in time and frequency domains and a diagnosis algorithm for air-conditioners using Neural Network estimation is suggested.

  • In this paper, a novel Programmable Signal Conditioner(PSC) for Thermo Couple(T/C) without variable-resistance is proposed. It is fabricated by using a fully digitalized error-correction and calibration algorithm. In signal processing of T/C, since the output voltage of T/C is nonlinear and its level is very low, the circuitry become very complicated to reduce the converting error and identify the true thermal voltage signal. The newly proposed PSC has compensation and calibration algorithm not using variable resistor. Moreover structure can be very simple and it has highly precise output characteristics.

  • High precision sensing is very important in various technologies. Especially, it is more important when it were applied to nano/micro meter level's sensing like AFM, storage, etc. And capacitive sensing is widely used method. To improve the measurement efficiency, many signal conditioners were studied and one of them was surface acoustic wave (SAW) device. SAW device is very widely used as a high frequency bandwidth filter. Due to the reflective characteristic of high frequency, the response of SAW device contains both propagative and reflective signal at the external impedance. In this paper, we used SAW device as signal conditioner of capacitive sensor. And high precision gap measurement was executed using capacitive load. Reference signal was reflective SAW response and the magnitude at the center frequency of SAW device by the change of impedance was checked. Finally, the attainable gap resolution was determined.

  • A signal conditioning circuit for capacitive sensors was developed using a commercial single chip solution. Since capacitive displacement sensors can achieve high resolution and linearity, they have been widely used as precision sensors within the range of several hundred micrometers. However, they inherently have a limitation in low frequency range and some nonlinearity characteristics and so a specially designed signal conditioning circuit is needed to handle these properties. Up to now, several companies already have succeeded in the development of the capacitive sensors system and they are commercially available in the market. In this research, to construct the signal processing circuits more easily and simply, we used a universal LVDT signal conditioner (AD698). Since the AD698 provides one chip solution for a basic signal processing including modulation and demodulation using various internal components, we can build the processing circuits successfully with minimal additional circuits: a compensation circuits for the drift caused by the bias current of OP amplifiers and a fine adjustment circuit for the elimination of nonlinearity. The signal processing circuits shows nonlinearity less than 0.05% in the comparison with a laser interferometer.

SNR Improvement of AE Signal for Detection of Gas Leak from Tubes under Vibratory Environment

  • Detection of gas leak from a tube is a very important issue in the quality control of machines such as the heat exchanger of an air-conditioner, because leakage of operating gas directly reduces the performance of machines. The acoustic emission (AE) method is a common way to detect leak of gas, however its application under the environment of mechanical vibration is restricted since most AE detectors are very sensitive to external vibration noise. In order to overcome this problem, we propose a method based on the mode analysis of the Lamb wave. In this method, the dominant Lamb mode and its frequency are found first, and then a proper band-pass filter is used to retain only this frequency component. In this way, we could improve the SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) of AE signal generated by gas leak from the tube even under vibratory environment.

  • This paper describes an implementation of the absolute moment block truncation coding(AMBTC) in real time for the moving picture data compression. We have realized a system composed of the encoder and decoder, and operated it using an NTSC TV signal. The encoder consists of a 4-1line buffer memory and a data processing block. Besides, there are signal conditioner and a control signal generator. Experimental results show that the quality of the processed image with a data rate of 10Mb/s is slightly degraded, but not objectionable, comparing data rate of 80Mb/s.

  • To monitor abnormal state of rotary compressor, methods for acquisition and processing of Acoustic Emission(AE) signal are arranged and optimal AE parameter for monitoring is determined. The detecting method of abnormal compressor in real time is suggested and special-purpose minitoring system which can be applied to automatic manufacturing line is developed using one-chip microprocessor in low cost.

  • The capacitive transducers, which are used of the principle of capacitance changes by means of the variation of distance between electrodes, are usually utilized for measurement of small displacements. But the measurement ranges of this method are limited. In this study, the measurement ranges are extended by using the variation method of the surface area of electrodes. Thus the capacitive transducer and signal conditioner, which are having the capability of measurement range of 25mm and resolution of 0.1\ulcorner, have developed, and its environmental characteristics are also tested.

  • Man has always striven to create a thermally comfortable environment. This is reflected in building traditions around the world - from ancient history to present day. Today, creating a thermally comfortable environment is still one of the most important parameters to be considered when designing buildings. It is defined in the ISO 7730 standard as being "That condition of mind which expresses satisfaction with the thermal environment". A definition most people can agree on, but also a definition is not easily converted into physical parameters. Thermal comfort is a matter of many physical parameters, and not just one, as for example the air temperature that is set by air-conditioner. The most important matter Today's common offices and homes are only depending on air-conditioning as a cooling system during the summer. This kind of system tends to be focused on the person who controls it and those who are around the air-conditioner while thermal-comfort is neglected. Futhermore, the people's body conditions are not considered during each time that beginning, middle, last of the air-conditioning which causing displeasure of the residents more and more. This kind of operating system is set for a long time may causes unbalanced air condition and man's psychologic displeasure goes to increase.
