  • The purpose of this study is to examine quantitatively the relationship between visual image quality and degradation In spatial resolution for a gamma camera by the increase in distance from collimator. The relationship between the portion(p) of images identified the difference of image quality and the difference(${\Delta}FWHM$) in FWHM between paired images was showed in a sigmoid curve. Using Dendy's method, minimum level to be correctly identified the difference of Image duality on three out of four occasion(p=0.75) was corresponded to 0.4 mm in ${\Delta}FWHM$. Using fuzzy theory, the level to be identified the difference of image quality was examined under various conditions. The truth-value of fuzzy sets-degraded or slightly degraded and not-degraded in image quality between palled Images-was gained the peak at 0.5 mm of ${\Delta}FWHM$. It was founded that changes of $0.4{\sim}0.5\;mm$ in FWHM-corresponding about 2 cm distance from collimator could be sufficiently identified in the difference of image quality.

  • The use of optimum content of supplementary cementing materials (SCMs) such as limestone filler (LF) to blend with Portland cement has been resulted in many environmental and technical advantages, such as increase in physical properties, enhancement of sustainability in concrete industry and reducing $CO_2$ emission are well known. Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been already applied in civil engineering to solve a wide variety of problems such as the prediction of concrete compressive strength. The feed forward back propagation (FFBP) algorithm and Tan-sigmoid transfer function were used for the ANNs training in this study. The training, testing and validation of data during the backpropagation training process yielded good correlations exceeding 97%. A parametric study was conducted to study the sensitivity of the developed model to certain essential parameters affecting the compressive strength of concrete. The effects and benefits of limestone filler on hardened properties of the concrete such as compressive strength were well established endorsing previous results in the literature. The results of this study revealed that the proposed ANNs model showed a high performance as a feasible and highly efficient tool for simulating the LF concrete compressive strength prediction.

  • The cure kinetics for diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A(DGEBA)/4, 4'-methylene dianiline(MDA) system with or without lOphr of phenyl glycidyl ether(PGE)-acetamide(AcAm) was studied by autocatalytic cure expression. On the dynamic DSC curves, the exothermic peak temperature and the onset temperature of reaction decreased with the addition of PGE-AcAm. Regardless of the addition of PGE-AcAm, the shape of the conversion curve showed sigmoid, and this meant that DGEBA/MDA and DGEBA/MDA/PGE-AcAm systems followed autocatalytic cure reaction. When PGE-AcAm was added to DGEBA/MDA system, the cure rate increased about 1.2~1.4 times due to the catalytic role of hydroxyl groups in PGE-AcAm.

  • The isothermal cure behavior of diglycidyl ether of bisphenol A(DGEBA) 4,4'-methylene dianiline(MDA) system with various contents of neopentyl glycol(NPG) has been analyzed by differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). TO increase the cure rate of DGEBA/MDA system, NPG was introduced as an accelerator. Regardless of the NPG content, the shape of the conversion curves showed sigmoid indication that DGEBA/MDA/NPG system followed autocatalytic cure reaction. The cure reaction of DGEBA/MDA system increased with the increment of NPG content and it was due to the catalytic role of hydroxyl groups of NPG.

  • Purpose: In this paper, we developed a reliability index (RI) to efficiently compare reliability of products based on the design, development and production information such as reliability tests, quality, product life-cycle management. RI also can be applied to reliability prediction of a novel product as well as comparison evaluation among existing products. Methods: For evaluating RI, we proposed evaluation process which is composed of five steps. Target modules are selected based on warranty data and correlation analysis. Scores of selected target modules are calculated by scoring function. Finally, weights of RI model are determined by optimization method. Results: This paper presented an empirical analysis based on failure data of mobile devices. In this case study, we demonstrated that there is a direct correlation between evaluated RI and field failure probability of each product. Conclusion: We proposed the index for comprehensive and effective assessment of product reliability level. From the procedure of this study, we expected to be applied for reliability estimation of novel products and deduction of field failure-related factors.

  • Churg-Strauss syndrome (CSS) is a disorder characterized by pulmonary and systemic smallvessel vasculitis, extravascular eosinophilic infiltration and hypereosinophilia; it is rarely diagnosed in the pediatric age group. We experienced a case of CSS in a male infant who had repeated symptoms of asthma with hypereosinophilia and transitory non-fixed pulmonary infiltrates on chest radiographs. He also had rectal bleeding in early infancy and multiple erosions with extravascular eosinophilic infiltrations in the sigmoid colon. We report a rare case of CSS in a 14-month-old infant and review the medical literature.

  • Nemerical algorithms were developed to analyze the behavior of the double lining as well as ground mass separately or simultaneously. A lining interface element was especially developed, verified and applied to the study on the coupled interaction of shotcrete and the concrete lining. It could be known fro parameter studys on double lining support systems that as the contact surface between shotcrete and concrete lining was rougher, the more decreased bearing capacity against the cracking of the system. If the thickness of the shotcrete increased, the bearing capacity of the double lining also increased linearly with the thickness. If the thickness of the concrete lining increased, the bearing capacity of the double lining had the relationship of the characteristic S-shape of a sigmoid function with the thickness. When the thickness increased over a given value, it was not useful to increase more the thickness because bearing capacity had no remarkable change. It could be concluded that the behavior of the shotcrete and concrete lining was generally reversed before and after the ratio of horizontal to vertical earth preassure of 1.0 and 0.5 respectively. Therefore, we could guess that the movement which two shotcrete and concrete lining deflect toward each other around the crown caused a friction between two linings and thus this disadvantageous effect could contribute to reducing the bearing capacity against the cracking.

  • This paper presents a new approach to control of stable motion of single wheel driving robot system of a pitch that is controlled by an in-wheel motor and a roll that is controlled by a reaction wheel. This robot doesn'thave any actuator for a yaw axis control, which makes the derivation of the dynamics relatively simple. The Lagrange equations was applied to derive the dynamic equations of the one wheel driving robot to implement the dynamic speed control of the mobile robot. To achieve the real time speed control of the unicycle robot, the sliding mode control and optical regulator are utilized to prove the reliability while maintaining the desired speed tracking performance. In the roll controller, the sigmoid-function based robust controller has been adopted to reduce the vibration by the situation function. The optimal controller has been implemented for the pitch control to drive the unicycle robot to follow the desired velocity trajectory in real time using the state variables of pitch angle, angular velocity, angle and angular velocity of the driving wheel. The control performance of the control systems from a single dynamic model has been illustrated by the real experiments.

  • Pyrimidine nucleotide N-ribosidase (pyrimidine 5'-nucleotide phosphoribo(deoxyribo)hydrolase/pyrimidine 5'-nucleotide nucleosidase, EC 3.2.2.10) catalyzes the breakdown of pyrimidine 5'-nucleotide into pyrimidine base and ribose(deoxyribo)-5-phosphate. However, detailed characteristics of the enzyme have not yet been reported. The enzyme was purified to homogeneity 327.9-fold with an overall yield of $6.1\%$ from Pseudomonas oleovorans ATCC 8062. The enzyme catalyzed cytidine monophosphate (CMP) and uridine monophosphate (UMP), but not adenosine monophosphate (AMP) and guanosine monophosphate (GMP). The enzyme optimally metabolized CMP at pH 6.0 and UMP at around 8.5, and the optimum temperature for the overall enzyme reaction was found to be $37^{\circ}C$. The $K_m$ values of the enzyme for CMP (at pH 6.0) and UMP (at pH 8.5) were 1.6 mM and 1.1 mM, respectively. AMP, deoxyCMP, and deoxyUMP were very effective inhibitors of the reaction. Double-reciprocal plots obtained in the absence and in the presence of AMP revealed that this inhibitory effect was of the mixed competitive type with respect to the breakdown of CMP and of the noncompetitive type with respect to the breakdown of UMP. In the presence of AMP, the enzyme followed sigmoid kinetics with respect to each substrate.

  • In this study we use three-dimensional magnetohydrodynamic simulations to investigate how the dynamic state of emerging magnetic field is related to the twist of field lines. Emerging magnetic field forms a magnetic structure on the Sun where various kinds of activity such as solar flares, jets, and coronal mass ejections are observed. To understand the physical mechanism for producing such activity, we have to know the dynamic nature of this structure. Since flares are the manifestation of rapidly dissipating electric current in the corona, we also investigate the distribution of current density inside the structure and examine how it depends on the field-line twist. To demonstrate the dynamic structure of emerging magnetic field, we focus on the factors characterizing the geometric property and stratification of emerging magnetic field, such as the curvature of field line and the scale height of field strength. These two factors show that emerging field forms a two-part structure in which the central part is close to a force-free state while the outer marginal part is in a fairly dynamic state where magnetic pressure force is dominant. We discuss how the field-line twist affects the two-part structure and also explain a possible relation between electric current structure and sigmoid observed in a preflare phase.
