In this paper, a new approach to the optimum synthesis of line source difference patterns is proposed for the monopulse tracking way antennas. In the Proposed scheme, which is different from the well-known Bayliss difference pattern synthesis, the difference patterns with the desired individual sidelobe levels are optimally synthesized by appropriately modifying the Taylor line source sum pattern formula. That is, the relationship between the difference pattern and the corresponding source distribution function is analytically established, and then the desired pattern and the distribution are simultaneously extracted by the optimum perturbation of pattern null positions. Furthermore this method provides more rapid sidelobe decay rates than conventional methods. Some numerical results show the validity and usefulness of the proposed procedures.
The power spectral density of a signal can be estimated most accurately by using a window with a narrow bandwidth and large sidelobe attenuation. Conventional windows generally control these characteristics by only one parameter, so there is a trade-off problem: if the bandwidth is reduced, the sidelobe attenuation is also reduced. To overcome this problem, we propose using a Butterworth window with two control parameters for power spectral density estimation and analyze its characteristics. Simulation results demonstrate that the sidelobe attenuation and the 3 dB bandwidth can be controlled independently. Thus, the trade-off problem between resolution and spectral leakage in the estimated power spectral density can be overcome.
In the underwater acoustic systems. we can receive signals and retrieve information about a target by using a beamforming method. The most important thing in the beamforming is finding the way to optimize the mainlobe beamwidth and the sidelobe level to the desired value. One of the prominent results of beamforming method. which has been studied. is Philip's weighting function method(1) . Philip's method adaptively adjusts its weights of array to meet the desired mainlobe beamwidth and sidelobe level. It is very similar to the design method in adaptive filter. However. this method cannot easily bring us to the desired sidelobe level due to complementary relation between mainlobe beamwidth and sidelobe level. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm using partial constrained adaptation. This method makes us circumvent the above problem and meet the specification of design easily. The proposed algorithm presents a Pattern synthesis that designer can easily control the mainlobe beamwidth and the sidelobe level to the desired value while calculation time to converge is decreasing.

This paper newly proposes a methodology towards computing antenna element weights which are satisfying asymmetric sidelobe levels(SLLs) specified arbitrarily on both sides of the main beam pattern, in the linear phased array antenna pattern synthesis problem. Opposite to the conventional methods in which the element weights are directly optimized from the array factor, this method is based on the optimum perturbations of complex roots inherent to the Schelkunoff's polynomial form which is described for the array factor. From the proposed methodology, the capability of nulling the directions of multiple jammers is also possible by independently perturbing only the complex roots corresponding to each jamming direction, hence allowing an enhancement of the simplicity of the numerical procedure by means of a proper reduction of the dimension of the solution space. The complex weights over the array are then easily computed by substituting the optimally perturbed complex roots to the Schelkunoff's polynomial. Some examples are examined and numerically verified by substituting the extracted weights into the array factor equation.

In the sum and difference pattern synthesis problem of the equi-spaced monopulse tracking linear array antennas, an efficient numerical approach to deriving the relative excitation current weights of antenna elements is presented for the desired patterns. This method is based on the optimum perturbation of null points which are inherent to the Schelkunoffs polynomial representing the pattern array factor. Accordingly, opposite to the conventional method in which the excitation weights are directly optimized, this method is advantageous in that the patterns with the desired individual sidelobe levels(SLLs) and the corresponding excitation weights are easily synthesized by the control of null points. Furthermore, it is showed that two types of difference patterns can be synthesized as imposing the different initial values of null points in the optimization process. The proposed method is numerically validated by synthesizing the patterns with the arbitrary SLLs and substituting the extracted results into the array factor equation.
In a High Altitude Platform (HAP) cellular communications network, each cell may be served by a dedicated spot-beam antenna. The antennas' beam properties and their spatial overlap control the co-channel interference. In prior literature, radiation patterns have been approximated by a main lobe followed by a constant sidelobe floor. A network of 121 cells has been studied and the method is here extended to the use of more realistic radiation patterns based on the theoretical aperture antenna patterns. This allows for the comparison of the effect of different aperture field tapers, which lead to reduced sidelobe levels and hence higher system capacity but also a more massive antenna payload.

Small size and low profile antenna for mobile vehicular-top-mounted is needed in satellite communication services such as DBS, Satellite Internet and VSAT. In middle latitudes, the development of an array antenna which has the conformal, low profile and 45 degree beam tilted configuration, and has the high gain with sharp beamwidth, low sidelobe and low loss is required for Ka band satellite communication. In this paper, in order to meet with these performances, an array antenna consisting of the vertical polarized waveguide longitudinal slots based on the leaky-wave mode of traveling wave antenna is proposed. Especially, for the lower sidelobe level the radiation power control using a design method of the different slot width is proposed. An array antenna consisting of 32 leakywave elements is showing 34.4 dBi of gain, 3.6 degree of beamwidth, below than -25 dB of sidelobe level, 43 degree of beam tilt angle in center frequency 20.0 GHz. Feed network designed by waveguide cooperated feed shows good performance of wideband and low loss.
Echo sounder and Doppler sonar are to theultra-sonic transducers for measuring the depth and the ship's speed respectively. To measure the depth and speed with a single transducer, it is required to control the ultra-sonic beam to optional direction. In the past, the direction of the transducer itself is varied, but such a method provoked much problems in the mechanical design of the equipment. This paper deals with the method to control beam direciton by the phase control of the plural arrangement of transducers, and the results are studied by a computer simulation. The remarkable results of the study is condensed as follows; 1. The greater the interval of arrangement between transducers, the sharper the radiation pattern is, but in this case, the level of undesired sidelobe is also increased. 2. The control of radiation pattern up to 60 degree can be achieved by an adequate arrangement of more than 10 transducers. 3. It is shown that a simultaneous measurement of both depth and speed can be achieved by alternating directivity of the pulse by the method proposed in this paper.

In this paper, we consider a representative integral imaging method in glasses-free 3D image processing and propose a prioritized transmission scheme for guaranteeing a received video quality in error-prone environments. According to the correlation of pixels consisting of each voxel of integral image, we set the priority differently and apply the modulation level according to this priority value. That is to say, the corresponding pixels with small variance are set to a high priority and transmitted by using a low level modulation that is robust under transmission errors, but the corresponding pixels with greater variance are set to a lower priority and transmitted by using a high level modulation that has a high bit error rate but fast transmission rate. Result shows that the proposed scheme that applies the error-robust modulation level to the important image bit stream with the high priority improves the peak to sidelobe ratio (PSR) of the received 3D image, compared with a typical method that use the same modulation level without distinction of priorities.
본 논문에서는 GSC(Generalized Sidelobe Canceller)를 기초로 새로운 부밴드 광대역 적응 빔포밍 구조를 제안하였다.
