The study was conducted in order to investigate the basic geotechnical properties of sand-bentonite mixtures with the various bentonite contents. The results obtained are as follows : 1. Optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures was approximately 17.10~18.52% corresponding to the maximum dry density of 1.58~1 .64gf/$cm^3$. As the bentonite contents and curing peroid increased, both the maximum dry density and optimum moisture content of sand-bentonite mixtures increased. 2. The unconfined compressive strength of sand-bentonite mixtures increased as the increase of bentonite content, but it did not change along the curing period. 3. The sand-bentonite mixtures ruptured at 8~15% of the axial strain and the maxi-mum shearing stress was about O.7Okgf/$cm^2$. 4. According to the increase of bentonite content, the cohesion intercept and internal friction of the sand-bentonite mixtures increased slightly in the shear test, while the cohesion intercept increased largely, and the internal friction angle decreased largely in the triaxial test. 5. Both the initial void ratio and swelling of the sand-bentonite mixtures were very low with respect to the consolidation pressure increase. 6. The swelling and shrinkage of sand-bentonite mixtures increased slightly according to the increment of bentonite content.

This study investigated the application of red muds, which were industrial wastes fired at 800℃, with a coloring agents. The results were summarized as following. The slumpflow, air content and unit weight volume were satisfied with each target values. The setting time was shortened on the case that 3 % of the red coloring agent and fired red mud were simultaneously replaced about 1 hour compared with the previous study which was 6 % of the red coloring agent was individually used. For the length change ratio caused by drying shrinkage and depth of neutralization on hardened concrete, they were declined when 3 % of the red coloring agent and fired red mud were simultaneously replaced compared with the previous study. On the measurement of forming colors, the case that 3 % of the red coloring agent and fired red mud were simultaneously replaced was similar to the previous study.

The strain data acquired from structural health monitoring (SHM) systems play an important role in the state monitoring and damage identification of bridges. Due to the environmental complexity of civil structures, a better understanding of the actual strain data will help filling the gap between theoretical/laboratorial results and practical application. In the study, the multi-scale features of strain response are first revealed after abundant investigations on the actual data from two typical long-span bridges. Results show that, strain types at the three typical temporal scales of $10^5$, $10^2$ and $10^0$ sec are caused by temperature change, trains and heavy trucks, and have their respective cut-off frequency in the order of $10^{-2}$, $10^{-1}$ and $10^0$ Hz. Multi-resolution analysis and wavelet shrinkage are applied for separating and extracting these strain types. During the above process, two methods for determining thresholds are introduced. The excellent ability of wavelet transform on simultaneously time-frequency analysis leads to an effective information extraction. After extraction, the strain data will be compressed at an attractive ratio. This research may contribute to a further understanding of actual strain data of long-span bridges; also, the proposed extracting methodology is applicable on actual SHM systems.

Stereolithography can be classified into two main categories according to the cross-sectional shape: scanning type and projection type. Projection stereolithography has significant advantages when making a layer using a single patterned beam, and results in improved speed and accuracy. To implement relatively low-cost projection stereolithography, we developed a system using a commercially available resin, which cures on exposure to visible light. The optimum photoinitiator was investigated, as well as the mixing ratio. The viscosity, shrinkage, curing depth and tensile strength were evaluated through several experiments on fabricated three-dimensional structures, and thus an optimal resin selection system was developed.
To investigate dimensional responses of wood under dynamic temperature condition, poplar (populous euramericana Cv.) specimens, 20 mm in radial (R) and tangential (T) directions with two thicknesses of 4 and 10 mm along the grain, were exposed to cyclic temperature changes in square wave between $25^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$ at 60% relative humidity (RH) for three different cycling periods of 6 h, 12 h and 24 h. R and T dimensional changes measured during the cycling gave the following results: 1) Transverse dimensional changes of the specimens were generally square but at an opposite phase and lagged behind the imposed temperature changes. The phase lag was inversely correlated with cycling period, but positively related to specimen thickness, while the response amplitude was directly proportional to cycling period, but in a negative correlation with specimen thickness. 2) The specimens showed swelling hysteresis behavior. The heat shrinkage coefficient (HSC) became greater as cycling period increased or specimen thickness decreased. 3) Dimensional changes of the specimens produced deformation accumulation during repeated adsorption and desorption. The deformation accumulating ratio decreased with an increase in cycling period and specimen thickness. 4) Wood suffered 1.5 times as many dimensional changes per unit temperature variation as per unit humidity variation, and this deformation behaved even more seriously under static condition.

The objective of this research was to evaluate physical and mechanical properties of three species of Styrax woods from North Tapanuli in Indonesia. The woods were more than 15 years old. Physical properties such as specific gravity, green moisture content, and volume shrinkage were determined by the procedures based on BS-373 standard for small clear specimen. Furthermore, mechanical properties, including modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity, compression parallel to grain and hardness were also tested according to the standard. Along the stem direction, the edge section had better properties compared with those near the pith section. And the base section had also better properties than upper section. Based on the specific gravity, all of the Styrax woods in this research were classified into III-IV strength classes. A good dimensional stability was demonstrated by the value of the tangential and radial ratio which reached one. With the consideration of the mechanical properties, Styrax woods were suitable use for raw materials of light construction, furniture and handy craft.

This study investigated influence of fine aggregate types on fundamental properties of cement mortar. Test showed that concrete using lime stone crushed fine aggregate(L) exhibited the most favorable fluidity due to grain shape and particle distribution, and next was blending aggregate miting L and G, blending aggregate mixing L and N, granite crushed fine aggregate(G), natural fine aggregate(N) in an order. Concrete using N had the highest air content and L was the smallest value because of the effective filling performance by continuos particle distribution. Compressive, tensile and flexural strength of all concrete using L had the highest value due to the smallest value of air content. It is also found that concrete using L resulted in decrease of drying shrinkage length change ratio.
This paper aimed to investigate the effect of MWCNTs on properties of slag Geopolymeric mortar. Geopolymeric matrices containing different MWCNTs concentrations (0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 % by weight of the used binder) were synthesized. The Geopolymer mortar composed of aluminosilicate slag to sand (1:2), while the alumino silicate source binder composed of 50% air cooled slag and 50%water cooled slag both passing a sieve of $90{\mu}m$, while the sand passing a sieve of 1 ml. The materials prepared at water/binder ratios in a range of 0.34-0.39% depending on the added MWCNT, whereas the Gelenium Ace-30 superplasticizer used in the ratio of 1.4-2.2% from the total dry weight for better dispersion of MWCNT under sonication for 15 min. Alkaline activation of the Geopolymer mortar was carried by using of 6% NaOH. Curing was performed under temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ and 100% R.H. Results showed that the addition of MWCNTs enhanced the resulting amorphous geopolymer structure with marked decrease in the drying shrinkage as well as water absorption specially when using 0.1% MWCNT, while further increase in MWCNTs results in agglomeration in MWCNT within the matrix and so hinder the propagation of Geopolymerization reaction and negatively affect the formed geopolymer structure.

In the repair and repair works, epoxy resins are widely used as repair materials. The successful concrete repairs and retrofit works depends on the quality of the repair and retrofit materials. Although many materials for the repairs and retrofit have been developed in many contries, information on the repair methods are somewhat limited. Futhermore, the repairs and retrofit methods are also largely dependent on those froms in other developed contries, it is necessary to initiate rather fundamental repair-related research. The purpose of this study is to investigate th physical and mechanical properties of epoxy resin which is commonly used in repairing concrte crack in RC structures. The basic physical properties such as specific gravity, gel point and shrinkage ratio as well as the mechanical properties such ad the tensile and compressive strength, elastic modulus were acquired by the standard test method (KS code). For the test results, the great deviations of physical and mechanical properties among the test materials were discovered and is, therefore, recommended that careful attentions should be give in selecting the epoxy resin by considering the characteristics of the repair materials and repair works.

This study investigates the engineering properties of concrete incorporating lime stone crushed fine aggregate(Ls), which has been abandoned about 20% of total production due to the low purity. Test results showed that increase of Ls had favorable fluidity and slightly decreased air content. Bleeding capacity of all specimens was not appeared as those were high strength mixture proportion, but the specimens using more Ls accelerated initial and final setting. For the mechanical properties, specimens incorporating higher ratio of Ls, overall, resulted in increase of compressive strength, and exhibited very small inclined tendency in a dynamic elasticity modulus test In addition, for the durability properties, specimens incorporating higher Ls dramatically decreased a drying shrinkage and showed similar tendency in a frost & thaw test, as well as showing no more change in an accelerated neutralization test from the beginning. In conclusion, as it was confirmed in the experimental test, the high strength concrete applying Ls did not showed any problems in the aspects of engineering properties and mostly exhibited even more excellent quality than the specimens using natural fine aggregate.
