An Experimental Study on the Adhesive Strength of Construction Joints of RC Slabs at Widened Bridges (교량 확폭시 RC 상판 접합부의 부착강도에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Recent increasing traffic volumes have made many bridges on highway be widened. Depending on the construction method of bridge widening, several undesirable problems have been arisen with the additional stresses resulting from de-staging of new bridge and the difference of the amount of creep and shrinkage between new and existing bridge. The main focus of this paper is given to investigate the variation of the adhesive strength of steel bar and construction joints of new and old concrete slab. The result shows that repeated vibration loadings was caused some bad effects on the construction joints between new and existing bridges.

  • In this thesis, the study on controlling of cracks of concrete box culvert in early ages is presented. The optimum construction method and economical analysis were proposed also through the experiment of the material and field test. As a result of the experiment of the material, using fly ash, CSA expansive agent and BELITE cement(type IV) showed good result in the control of cracks induced by heat of hydration and shrinkage. As a result of construction test analysis, the maintenance time of form system did not show a big difference in controlling of cracks. Control of distribution of reinforcement, spacing of expansion joint and use of BELITE cement showed big differences in the control of cracks in early ages. As a result of economical analysis, control of construction variables before construction can make it possible to reduce the repair expense.

Effect of UO2+x Powders Produced at Different Oxidation Temperatures on the Properties of Pellet

  • Characteristics of $UO_{2+x}$ powders oxidized at different temperatures were examined. Pellets were fabricated by adding these oxidation powders and their properties were also investigated. Particle size of the $UO_{2+x}$ powders decreased with increasing oxidation temperature while surface area increased. Only the powders oxidized at 35$0^{\circ}C$ enhanced the strength of green pellet. However, 35$0^{\circ}C$ oxidized powders added pellet had many surface defects. The difference of shrinkage rate between the oxidized and UO$_2$ powders was thought to be the cause of them.

  • 1. The physical and anatomical properties investigated in this study are the ones, which may give more effect on absorption of preservatives, such as variation of annual ring, specific gravity, shrinkage, E.M.C. of desorption and adsorption at 70 percent relative humidity condition, general and minute properties of wood. 2. On this study, the positive effects of wood structure, in particular, the appearances of tyloses in vessel element upon the absorption of creosote were observed. 3. Thirteen percent sodium chloride solution treatment and boiling hot water treatment have shown poor results to improve the preservative absorption characteristics of tested species however, some slight difference between treated and control could be seen. Properties of Bentwood for Esthetic Designing by Microwave and Ammonia Solution Treatment

  • This study was carried out to know bending process property of bentwood by treatment methods such as microwave and ammonia solution treatment. Bentwood processing was operated on bending-jig form with 60mm and 100mm radius of curvature (ROC). The species was used to Korean red pine (Pinus densiflora). No significant difference was shown in bentwood processing method on ROC. In treatment method, ammonia solution treatment for bentwood was better in dimensional stability and working ability than that of microwave treatment. However, bentwood stress was reduced with ammonia solution treatment. Color of bentwood surface appearance has a dark tendency in ammonia solution treatment. But it seems to beautiful effect of apparent annual ring is rising esthetically by ammonia solution treatment. To utilize wood as a exterior material for living amenity, it has to be closely examined from various angles including surface property, degree of swelling and shrinkage, drying state, retaining strength, durability, safety, and insect damage.

  • In this paper, we studied the effects of mold temperature on the microstructure of injection molded parts. The weld line decreases in length and width as mold temperature increases. We investigated the dimensional stability of the parts made of two kinds of resin(polypropylene and polystyrene) by varying the mold temperature. As the mold temperature is high, both the shrinkage ratio and the thickness difference for the PS parts decreases. But the observation of PP parts shows a tendency to increase. The easiness of cavity filling and transcription of the mold texture is improved as the mold temperature is high.

  • The chemicals are PEG $\#4000$ and sucrose, which have been conventionally used for the treatment of waterlogged wood. The present investigation was undertaken in order to reveal difference of the impregnation between the chemicals, but also to contribute to the explanation of the chemicals penetration process and distribution within wood structure. Comparable observation concerning the deposits shapes of chemicals after treatment, PEG4000 penetrated samples were occurred at the cell wall shrinkage and cracks, whereas the majority of the cells and lumens were entirely filled with a crystalline structure. Sucrose penetrated samples remained almost like sound wood, although the penetration ristricted only the cell walls was filled by amorphous structure.

Computer Simulation of Solidification Process in the Gravity Die Casting

  • A basic three dimensional thermal model has been developed to simulate the solidification sequence for gravity die casting process. The finite difference method was used to analyze the solidification process during all the casting cycles. The prediction of die temperature in the quasi-steady state was analyzed by the boundary element method. The influence of die cooling on the heat flow in the cast/mold system was also investigated. Predictions of the computer simulation on temperature profiles and location of shrinkage defects were in good agreement with those observed in experimental die castings. Models of computer simulation which is developed by this work can be useful for the design and process control of die casting.

  • This study was carried out about construction management plan to reduce water leakage of underground parking lot in the apartment housing. To minimize effect of upper working load, installation position of jack support and paving with rubble on the top of underground parking lot were studied. By calculation shrinkage strain of underground parking lot scale, water leakage risk in design of level difference was studied. In this study, the basic data about construction management was provided to reduce water leakage of underground parking lot in the apartment housing.

  • $Pb(Zr_{0.525} Ti_{0.475})O_3$ piezoelectric ceramics both unmodified and doped with NiO were prepared by the conventional oxide techniques using sintering temperature from 900 to to 125$0^{\circ}C$. The difference in densification process between unmodified and NiO doped PZT ceramics was studied by shrinkage vs. firing temperatures and it was caused by increasing defect concentration in calcining process of NiO doped PZT ceramics. And nickel oxide solubility limit for $Pb(Zr_{0.525} Ti_{0.475})O_3$ ceramics is shown to be at the range from 0.2wt% to 0.5wt% from this defect model micro-structures dielectric and piezolectric properties of Nio doped PZT ceramics.
