A finite element computer code for short-term analysis of steel-concrete composite structures is extended to study long-term effects under service loads, in the present work. Long-term effects are important in engineering design because they influence stress and strain distribution of the structural system and therefore contribute to the increment of deflections in these structures. For creep analysis, a rheological model based on a Kelvin chain, with elements placed in series, was employed. The parameters of the Kelvin chain were obtained using Dirichlet series. Creep and shrinkage models, proposed by the CEB FIP 90, were used. The shear-lag phenomenon that takes place at the concrete slab is usually neglected or not properly taken into account in the formulation of beam-column finite elements. Therefore, in this work, a three-dimensional numerical model based on the assemblage of shell finite elements for representing the steel beam and the concrete slab is used. Stud shear connectors are represented for special beam-column elements to simulate the partial interaction at the slab-beam interface. The two-dimensional representation of the concrete slab permits to capture the non-uniform shear stress distribution in the horizontal plane of the slab due to shear-lag phenomenon. The model is validated with experimental results of two full-scale continuous composite beams previously studied by other authors. Results are given in terms of displacements, bending moments and cracking patterns in order to shown the influence of long-term effects in the structural response and also the potentiality of the present numerical code.
This paper presents a novel analytical formulation for the analysis of composite beams with partial shear interaction stiffened by a bolted longitudinal plate accounting for time effects, such as creep and shrinkage. The model is derived by means of the principle of virtual work using a displacement-based formulation. The particularity of this approach is that the partial interaction behaviour is assumed to exist between the top slab and the joist as well as between the joist and the bolted longitudinal stiffening plate, therefore leading to a three-layered structural representation. For this purpose, a novel finite element is derived and presented. Its accuracy is validated based on short-and long-term analyses for the particular cases of full shear interaction and partial shear interaction of two layers for which solutions in closed form are available in the literature. A parametric study is carried out considering different stiffening arrangements to investigate the influence on the short-and long-term behaviour of the composite beam of the shear connection stiffness between the concrete slab and the steel joist, the stiffness of the plate-to-beam connection, the properties of the longitudinal plate and the concrete properties. The values of the deflection obtained from the finite element simulations are compared against those calculated using the effective flexural rigidity in accordance with EC5 guidelines for the behaviour of elastic multi-layered beams with flexible connection and it is shown how the latter well predicts the structural response. The proposed numerical examples highlight the ease of use of the proposed approach in determining the effectiveness of different retrofitting solutions at service conditions.

The appearance of many Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastic (GFRP) constructions look like ordinary steel construction, because GFRP has been imitated by the same way with the traditional steel's cross section as well as connection system. In terms of detachable connection, there was not enough appropriate option of GFRP connection, such as a traditional bolt connection for steel and wood structures. Most of all, from material characteristic of GFRP related to the deficient ductility, the shearstress principle of GFRP s not proper for the material property, which causes ineffective and not economic application of material. With this research problem, the innovative and detachable onnection system, which is more considered with appropriate material characteristic for FRP, is developed. Not only short time but also long time research with various connection variations is carried out.

Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) has been gathering interest from designers and engineers for its possible usage as a replacement reinforcement of a steel reinforcing bar due to its advantageous characteristics such as high tensile strength, non-corrosive material, etc. Since it is manufactured with various contents ratios, fiber types, and shapes without any general specification, test results for concrete members reinforced with these FRP reinforcing bars could not be systematically used. Moreover, since investigations for FRP reinforced members have mainly focused on short-term behavior, the purpose of this study is to evaluate long-term behaviors of glass FRP (GFRP) reinforcing bar and concrete beams reinforced with GFRP. In this paper, test results of tensile and bond performance of GFRP reinforcing bar and creep behavior are presented. In the creep tests, results showed that 100 years of service time can be secured when sustained load level is below 55% of tensile strength of GFRP reinforcing bar. A modification factor of 0.73 used to calculate long-term deflection of GFRP reinforced beams was acquired from the creep tests for GFRP reinforced concrete beams. It is expected that these test results would give more useful information for design of FRP reinforced members.
When plate anchors are embedded in soft clay, they may undergo a deformation under the pressure of sustained load. The critical depth at which the transition from a shallow to a deep anchor takes place depends on the properties of soil. Laboratory model tests were performed for the short-term net ultimate uplift capacity of a circular anchors with respect to various embedment depths and moisture content in saturated kaolinite. The tests have been conducted with the anchor at two different moisture contents. Based on the model test results, empirical relationships between the net load, rate of strain, and time have been developed. In creep tests of kaolinite for load versus ultimate uplift capacity, the displacement of plate anchors rapidly increases during the primary stage but thereafter becomes constant over a period of time.

This paper introduces a numerical analysis model capable of evaluating CFT (Concrete-Filled Tube) columns across all time stages, incorporating creep behavior analysis and inelastic analysis to account for time-dependent behavior. The proposed model is compared with experimental results, revealing that the numerical model presented in this paper demonstrates more accurate trends than existing design criteria. Following verification, a numerical analysis is conducted for each slenderness ratio, determining the ultimate load capacity and examining the short-term and long-term sustained load behavior of the overall CFT column members.

This paper reported an experimental study on creep behaviors of PVB and Ionoplast laminated glass (LG) under load duration of 30 days. The tests were carried out in room temperature ($23^{\circ}C$). The study revealed that after sustaining loads for 30 days, the mid-span deflection of PVB LG increased by almost 102% compared with its short term deflection, while that of Ionoplast LG approximately increased by 14%; composite effects between two glass plies in PVB LG gradually reduced with time, but did not fully vanish at the 30th day; two glass plies in Ionoplast LG on the other hand was able to withstand loads as an effective composite section during the entire loading period; the creep behaviors of both LG were not finished yet at the 30th day. In addition to this, also studied was the varying of the bending stresses of PVB and Ionoplast LG under load duration of 2 hours. The tests were carried out in ambient temperatures of $30^{\circ}C$, $50^{\circ}C$ and $80^{\circ}C$ respectively. It was found that under a given load, although the bending stresses of both LG increased with increasing temperature, for PVB LG the increasing rate of the bending stress decreased with increasing temperature, while for Ionoplast LG the increasing rate of the bending stress increased with increasing temperature.

To investigate an in-pile behavior of the newly developed DUO fuel pellet, the irradiation test will be carried out in the domestic test reactor. Irradiation test capsule for the HANARO reactor, which is a specially designed equipment used for material, irradiation and creep test, must satisfy the operational requirement on the hydraulic characteristics and structural integrity. In this study, a pressure drop, a flow-induced vibration and a short-term endurance test for the newly developed non-instrumented test capsule were carried out using FIVPET as a out-pile evaluation test. The test results show that the new test rig satisfy the HANARO operational requirement with sufficient margin.

In this paper, an integrated system is proposed which can evaluate both the early-age properties and durability performance of concrete structures. This integrated system starts with a hydration model which considers both Portland cement hydration and chemical reactions of supplementary cementing materials (SCM). Based on the degree of hydration of cement and mineral admixtures, the amount of reaction products, the early age heat evolution, chemically bound water, porosity, the early age short-term mechanical behaviors, shrinkage and early-age creep are evaluated as a function of curing age and curing conditions. Furthermore, the durability aspect, such as carbonation of blended concrete and chloride attack, are evaluated considering both the material properties and surrounding environments. The prediction results are verified through experimental results.
Total reduction factor that is used when calculating allowable tensile strength of geogrids is made by multiplying the installation damage reduction factor ($RF_{ID}$), chemical degradation reduction factor ($RF_D$), and creep reduction factor ($RF_{CR}$) etc. In case of a model estimating allowable tensile strength considering reduction factor over the short-term tensile strength of geogrids, it has a limit of not considering interaction force between reduction factors. Junction strength comes to be reduced by installation damages or chemical degradation in the same way as tensile strength. Single junction test method cannot properly test damaged samples and shows large deviations as it does not consider scale effect. Besides, regarding calculating shear strength, no reasonable study on reduction factors was conducted yet. Therefore, in this study, reduction factors that may affect the long-term performance of geogrids were revaluated considering various conditions and accurate long-term allowable tensile strength was calculated considering interrelation between reduction factors. Creep results after installation damage and chemical resistance test showed lower value than calculated value according to GRI GG-4. After the installation damage test and the chemical resistance test, the reduction factor of junction strength was less than that of tensile strength. Shear strength before and after installation damage showed no change or increase.
