With the fast development of information and communication technologies, video streaming services and applications are increasing rapidly. However, the network condition is volatile. In order to provide users with better quality of service, it is necessary to develop an accurate and low-complexity model for Quality of Experience (QoE) prediction of time-varying video. Memory effects refer to the psychological influence factor of historical experience, which can be taken into account to improve the accuracy of QoE evaluation. In this paper, we design subjective experiments to explore the impact of Short-Term Memory (STM) on QoE. The experimental results show that the user's real-time QoE is influenced by the duration of previous viewing experience and the expectations generated by STM. Furthermore, we propose analytical models to determine the relationship between intrinsic video quality, expectation and real-time QoE. The proposed models have better performance for real-time QoE prediction when the video is transmitted in a fluctuate network. The models are capable of providing more accurate guidance for improving the quality of video streaming services.

Video thoracoscopic surgery is a new modality that gains acceptance rapidly from thoracic surgeons. We have experienced two left lower lobectomies, one left upper lobectomy & one right upper lobectomy with using video thoracoscopy for the four patients with lung parenchymal disease from July 1992 to February 1993. The post-operative courses were uneventful. The final pathologic diagnosis were sclerosing hemangioma, adenocarcinoma, bronchiectasis, leiomyoma & the post-operative courses were short. These patients needed less analgesics because postoperative pain was reduced markedly, and hospitalization was shortened due to rapid recovery. We would like to prefer video thoracoscopic lobectomy to the lobectomy through standard thoracotomy in uncomplicated patients with simple pulmonary parenchymal diseases.

As society gradually enters a virtual, non-face-to-face society, the use of online content is increasing as well. In particular, as smartphones are thoroughly established in our daily life, the platforms of webtoons, mobile broadcasting, and education are shifting from personal computers to smartphones. Recently, the development of the Over-The-Top media service (OTT service) enabled streaming services of various media contents through the internet and activation of IPTV. Therefore, the rapid increase of popularity of short-form content is a natural phenomenon with smartphone platforms with fast, improvised, and endless communication. Lately, TikTok became the favored platform with prosumers, defined as people who are both producers and consumers. In this study, I studied the experiential response of YouTube and TikTok users as representative examples of a short-form content platform developed after the 2000s, the flourishing years of digital content with a length of 30 seconds.

초고속 인터넷 망과 모바일 디바이스의 발달, 그리고 그를 통한 소셜 네트워크의 확산으로 대중 미디어 생태계는 생산자가 소비자에게 콘텐츠를 제공하는 일방성에서 벗어나 소비자가 직접 콘텐츠를 생산하고 소비하는 미디어 프로슈머 문화로 확대되고 있다. 그러한 시대적 경향에 더불어 유튜브를 위시한 다양한 동영상 공유 플랫폼은 콘텐츠 생산자에게 광고수익을 배분하는 방식으로 콘텐츠 프로슈머들과 윈-윈(win-win)하는 모델의 플랫폼을 제공함으로써 개인의 동영상 콘텐츠 배급 채널이 수천만 명의 구독자를 확보하고 연간 100억 원 이상의 수익을 얻는 등 콘텐츠 산업에 일대 변혁이 일어나고 있다. 본 논문은 꾸준한 성장세를 보이고 있는 동영상 배급 채널과 숏폼 미디어 콘텐츠들 그리고 숏폼 미디어에서의 애니메이션 콘텐츠의 특성들을 다각도로 분석하여 온라인 동영상 미디어 플랫폼의 시대에 애니메이션 콘텐츠가 뻗어나갈 수 있는 새로운 시장을 모색하고자한다. 나아가 기존 애니메이션 콘텐츠와 구별되는 숏폼 미디어에서의 애니메이션 콘텐츠의 특징적 요소들과 성공사례를 제시함으로써 1인 창작자 또는 소규모 팀 애니메이션 창작자들에게 창작 애니메이션을 통한 자생의 방향성을 제시하는데 본 연구의 목적이 있다.

본 논문에서는 Wavelet 변환과 Vector Quantization(VQ)을 이용한 VBR (variable-bit-rate) 비디오 트래픽 모델을 제안하고 있다. 여기에서 제안된 방법은 영상 트래픽을 Wavelet 변환한 후 두 개의 요소로 분해하여 각각을 분리하여 모델링한다. 첫 번째 요소는 AR(1) 프로세스 모델로 이것은 트래픽의 비교적 장시간에 걸친 변화 특성을 표현한다. 두 번째 요소는 벡터 양자화(VQ)를 사용하여 비교적 짧은 시간의 트래픽 특성을 표현한다. 다른 VBR 트래픽의 모델 방법과 비교해서 본 논문에서 제안하는 모델은 세 가지 장점을 가지고 있다. 첫째로 영상 트래픽의 특성을 장시간과 단시간의 형태로 나누어 모델링을 할 수 있다. 둘째로 트래픽 데이터의 주기적 코딩 구조를 보존한다. 마지막으로 프레임 레벨과 슬라이스 레벨의 트래픽 모델링을 통합할 수 있다. 통계적 측정과 네트워크 성능 실험을 통하여 제안된 모델의 타당성을 검증하였다.

최근 미디어 시대에 짧은 영상의 발전 추세가 강하게 나타났다. 이러한 추세는 단편 영상에 대해 급진적인 발전과 동시에 혁신적인 문화의 표현 방식을 통해 중국의 우수한 전통 문화의 전파 발전을 위한 새로운 기회를 가져왔다. 이러한 환경 속에서 영상 블로커 이쯔치는 같은 유형의 셀프 미디어를 업로드함으로써 인기를 짧은 시간 내에 얻을 수 있었다. 이는 개인 매체 시대에 중화 전통 문화의 재구성과 전파하는 방법을 분석하는 데 좋은 소재를 제공했다. 본 연구는 유명한 동영상 블로커인 이쯔치의 사례를 연구하여 이를 바탕으로 셀프 미디어 시대 중국 전통 문화의 재구성과 전파에 대해 논하고자 한다. 그러기 위해 셀프 미디어 시대에 전통 문화의 재구성과 전파 방식에 대한 내용 분석을 하였다. 그 결과 현재 전통 문화 전파에 존재하는 문제점을 밝히고 보다 전통 문화를 전파할 수 있는 최적화된 전략을 제시하였다.

최근 대학생들 사이에서 짧은 비디오가 크게 인기를 얻고 있으며, 이는 정보 공유와 자기표현의 효과적인 플랫폼으로 작용하고 있다. 동시에 새로운 문화도 조성하고 있다. 그러나 이러한 미디어의 과도한 소비는 집중력 감소와 정보 과부하 같은 부정적인 효과를 초래할 수 있어, 균형 잡힌 이용과 자제력이 요구될 것이다. 이에 본 연구는 쇼츠 영상 매체의 다양한 특성이 대학생들의 학교에 대한 조직 몰입과 정신건강에 어떤 영향을 미치는지 연구하였다. 연구 결과, 접근성과 즉시성 같은 특징이 다양한 참여 형태에 긍정적인 영향을 미칠 수 있으며, 정서적 몰입이 학생들의 정신건강에도 큰 영향을 미친다는 사실이 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 쇼츠 영상 매체를 신중하게 활용함으로써 대학생들의 정신건강에 긍정적인 효과를 가져올 수 있다는 점을 제시하고자 한다.

일반 사용자들이 특정 주제에 관한 짧은 바이럴 동영상을 모방·제작·공유하는 해시태그 챌린지는 숏폼 비디오 플랫폼의 흥미로운 사회 현상 중 하나로 단연 손꼽힌다. 그러나 해시태그 챌린지의 인기가 높아지고 있음에도 불구하고, 관련 사용자 행동에 대한 이론적 논의는 여전히 매우 부족하다. 본 연구는 해시태그 챌린지에 대한 사용자의 참여 의도를 보다 정확히 이해하기 위해서 마이크로 인플루언서의 영향을 관심있게 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 준사회적 상호작용 이론과 모방 행동 문헌을 주요 이론적 근거로 활용하였다. TikTok 사용자를 대상으로 한 243개 설문조사 데이터를 분석한 결과, 본 연구는 사용자가 마이크로 인플루언서와 친밀감을 느끼는 환상(즉, 준사회적 상호작용)이 해시태그 챌린지에 대한 유저의 참여 의도에 상당한 긍정적인 영향을 미친다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 숏폼 비디오 플랫폼에서 준사회적 상호작용의 정도는 크게 미디어 콘텐츠 관련 요소와 미디어 캐릭터 관련 요소(콘텐츠 매력도, 신체적 매력도, 태도 유사성)에 의해 결정된다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 본 연구는 숏폼 비디오 플랫폼에서 마이크로 인플루언서의 활용 효과를 높이기 위한 방법에 관한 이론적·실무적 시사점을 제공한다.

A video signature is a set of feature vectors that compactly represents and uniquely characterizes one video clip from another for fast matching. To find a short duplicated region, the video signature must be robust against common video modifications and have a high discriminability. The matching method must be fast and be successful at finding locations. In this paper, a frame-based video signature that uses the spatial information and a two-stage matching method is presented. The proposed method is pair-wise independent and is robust against common video modifications. The proposed two-stage matching method is fast and works very well in finding locations. In addition, the proposed matching structure and strategy can distinguish a case in which a part of the query video matches a part of the target video. The proposed method is verified using video modified by the VCE7 experimental conditions found in MPEG-7. The proposed video signature method achieves a robustness of 88.7% under an independence condition of 5 parts per million with over 1,000 clips being matched per second.

Video summary is one of the tools which can provide the fast and effective browsing fur a lengthy video. Video summary consists of many key-frames that could be defined differently depending on the video genre it belongs to. Consequently, the video summary constructed by the uniform manner might lead into inadequate result. Therefore, identifying the video genre is the important first step in generating the meaningful video summary. We propose a new method that can classify the genre of the video data in MPEG compressed bit-stream domain. Since the proposed method operates directly on the com- pressed bit-stream without decoding the frame, it has merits such as simple calculation and short processing time. In the proposed method, only the visual information is utilized through the spatial-temporal analysis to classify the video genre. Experiments are done for 6 genres of video: Cartoon, Commercial, Music Video, News, Sports, and Talk Show. Experimental result shows more than 90% of accuracy in genre classification for the well-structured video data such as Talk Show and Sports.
