This study presents a hazard assessment of the human body exposed to electic shock considering various parameters which affect severity of the electric shock. The present study has two research objectives; one is no analyze hazards of the human body by the elctric shock both on the ground and in the water. The other is to understand the mechnism of the electric shock. In order to achieve these objectives the hazard of shock is estimated by comparing with physiological effects of electric curren througn the human body according to variation of shock parameters of shock circuits. The shock parameters adopted in this paper consist of body resistance, resistance of protective equipment, ground resistance, shock duration, depth of gound surface layer, relection factor, permissible touch voltage, body current and body voltage. Besides, safety standard determining hazard degree of the human body is introduced. And hazard of the human body due to the electric shock is quantitatibely assessed in consideration of data obtained by the method suggested herein, and final results are presented and discussed.
A shock-wave in a supersonic flow can be theoretically determined by a given pressure ratio at upstream and downstream flowfields, and then the obtained shock-wave is stable in its position. Under the practical situation in which the shock-wave interacts with the boundary layer along a solid wall, it cannot, however, be stable even for the given pressure ratio being independent of time and oscillates around a time-mean position. In the present study, oscillations of a weak normal shock-wave in a supersonic diffuser were measured by a Line Image Sensor(LIS), and they were compared with the data of the wall pressure fluctuations at the foot of the shock-wave interacting with the wall boundary layer. LIS was incorporated into a conventional schlieren optical system and its signal, instantaneous displacement of the interacting shock-wave, was analyzed by a statistical method. The results show that the displacement of an oscillating shock-wave increase with the upstream Mach number and the dominant frequency components of the oscillating shock-wave are below 200 Hz. Measurements indicated that shock-wave oscillations may not entirely be caused by the boundary layer separation. The statistical properties of oscillations appeared, however, to be significantly affected by shock-induced separation of turbulent boundary layer.
The shock absorber is very important in various mechanical field. Without the shock absorber, the structure might be broken. For lunar lander, honeycomb shock absorber to absorber the shock by using plastic deformation of honeycomb has been used. It is cheap and simple to use but impossible using again without changing the honeycomb. The oleo-pneumatic type shock absorber is not able to use in the cosmos because it is vacuum and its temperature. This study suggests the hybrid shock absorber combined spring-ratchet mechanical shock absorber and eddy current electromagnetic damper. The ratchet restricts rebound of lunar lander and the spring converts the impact energy to the potential energy of the spring. The eddy current damper dissipates the impact energy by eddy current force without contact between the parts. This hybrid shock absorber is reusable while the honeycomb shock absorber isn't. The impact absorbing test of the hybrid shock absorber was carried out. This paper shows that the compared results the hybrid shock absorber with ratchet and without ratchet and evaluates the possibility of using for lunar lander.
This study deals with underwater explosion (UNDEX) characteristics of various non-explosive underwater shock sources for the development of non-explosive underwater shock testing devices. UNDEX can neutralize ships' structure and the equipment onboard causing serious damage to combat and survivability. The shock proof performance of naval ships has been for a long time studied through simulations, but full-scale Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) using real explosives have been limited due to the high risk and cost. For this reason, many researches have been tried to develop full scale ship shock tests without using actual explosives. In this study, experiments were conducted to find the characteristics of the underwater shock waves from actual explosive and non-explosive shock sources such as the airbag inflators and Vaporizing Foil Actuator (VFA). In order to derive the empirical equation for the maximum pressure value of the underwater shock wave generated by the non-explosive impact source, repeated experiments were conducted according to the number and distance. In addition, a Shock Response Spectrum (SRS) technique, which is a frequency-based function, was used to compare the response of floating bodies generated by underwater shock waves from each explosion source. In order to compare the magnitude of the underwater shock waves generated by each explosion source, Keel Shock Factor (KSF), which is a measure for estimating the amount of shock experienced by a naval ship from an underwater explosionan, was used.
A theoretical model on shock-vortex interaction is investigated using a numerical technique to solve Navier-Stokes equations. The shock-vortex interaction generated by this model based on the classical Rankin vortex is precisely investigated for a benchmark problem: Dosanjh and Weeks experiment. In terms of shock dynamics, the interaction is categorized to three stages: shock distortion, shock split, and shock-shock interaction. The quadrupolar structure of the sound source produced by the interaction is far supported with the present model, and the difference between experiment and theoretical model is also discussed in this paper.
In this paper we present computation of a reflected shock in the hypersonic flow of air with chemical reactions. We consider two dimensional steady inviscid hypersonic flow of air around bodies including chemical reaction effects. At a high Mach number, a strong shock is formed in front of the body when a wedge is placed against the flow. In front of the shock, temperature and pressure increase greatly and the flow is in nonequilibrium state. If the shock hits a wall, then a reflected shock is formed in the nonequilibrium flow region. Behind this reflected shock, the temperature and pressure are very high. We carry out the computation of the reflected shock and the flow behind it. The jump conditions at the reflected shock are presented. A technique combining smooth transforms of domain and implicit difference methods is used to overcome numerical difficulties associated with the lack of resolution behind the shock and near the body.
All critical equipment installed aboard naval ships and submarines is required to be shock-qualified by tests on the MIL-S-901 shock test machines where testing is practical. The intent of the shock requirements is to produce combat vessels which are resistant to the underwater explosion weapon attack. To efficiently design equipment for passing a series of shock tests, the shock environment of the shock test machine should be clearly identified. In this paper, the shock characteristics of the MIL-S-901 Medium Weight Shock Machine(MWSM) are reviewed, based on the existing test data. An analytical model for the MWSM is also discussed.

Physical damages on fruits may be caused by shock and vibration inputs that transmitted from the transporting vehicle through the packaging and cushioning materials to the fruit. In this study, both half sine shock test and trapezoidal shock test were performed by MIL-STD-810F specification in order to investigate and represent the shock response properties such as peak acceleration and shock amplification factors of the pear according to packaging and cushioning materials for optimal packaging design during transportation. Shock excitation data that had been measured on the vehicle operating on the real road were used. Shock response properties measured by half sine shock test were smaller than those measured by trapezoidal shock test. Results represent that corrugation shapes and thickness can significantly affect the cushioning performance than the paper configurations of cushioning pad and showed that fruits may be damaged seriously while transported on the unpaved road without the properly cushioned packaging practices.
Various forms of passive shock absorber have developed to supplement performance which is poorer than that of active shock absorber. It is called 'Hybrid Conventional Damper (HCD)'. Frequency sensing shock absorber that this study will cover belongs to the HCD. This study aims to demonstrate that performance of frequency sensing shock absorber is superior than that of passive shock absorber. Study process is as follows. Firstly, analysis models for both passive shock absorber and frequency sensing shock absorber are developed to secure reliability. Then, elements which cause difference of ride quality are found out through comparison of hysteresis characteristics. By comparison of frequency characteristic, furthermore, damping principle of frequency sensing shock absorber is understood. Also, it determines if the absorber performs well even though maximum excitation speed is changed. Finally, the study proves that performance of frequency sensing shock absorber is superior than that of passive shock absorber after comparing change of damping power in excitation condition that various frequencies are mixed.
