  • The study is about 'Dap-ho', a kind of men's coat in the early, and mid period of Joseon Dynasty. The study examined the kinds, color, and fabric of Dap-ho from "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty". It also examined the characteristic, and the change of shape through excavated costume, and the period is limited until early 17th century. In "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", there is record of Dap-ho from King Sejong period to Gwang-hae-gun period. After 160 years, it appears again in King Young-jo period, and remains until King Soon-jong period. It was mentioned 168 times, from over 100 cases. There are 26 colors of Dap-ho from "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty", and among them, green appears the most. Thin fabric, like Joo [紬], Sa[紗], and Cho[綃] was used often, and there are records of double layered, and cotton padded Dap-ho. The period when Dap-ho appears as excavated costume is almost the same as, "The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty" and disappears after the decease of Dae-ho Kang(1541-1624), and Sun-un Yun(1580~1628). After in this period, Dan-ryung, and Jik-ryung changes into double layered clothes, and Jik-ryung functioned as the underclothes of Dan-ryung, instead of Dap-ho. The excavated costumes of Hwak Kim(1572~1633), and Eung-hae Lee(1547~1626) proofs this. But Dap-ho was called 'Jun-bok', 'Dugree', Que-ja', and 'Dap-ho' until the later period of Joseon Dynasty.

  • This study aimed to develop an optimal sizing system and a draping pattern for hip protector based on an analysis of anthropometric characteristics of Korean older women. A hip protector is a specialized form of pants or underwear containing pads along the outside of each hip. The 3D body scan data of Korean older women were analyzed to identify their anthropometric characteristics and a four-size system with 93% of population accommodation was developed by clustering analysis based on key dimensions derived from factor analysis. The sizing system consists of small/short, large/short, small/tall, and large/tall. A 3D physical model and hip pads were fabricated; then, a hip protector was draped on the 3D model and hip pads. The sizing system of hip protector was analyzed in terms of size and shape and a draping pattern was compared on back center, back side, front side, front center and pad. Lastly, the pattern deformation and clothing pressure were analyzed using the virtual clothing system CLO. Virtual system have disadvantage of not to suggest the objective value. In the future research the wearing comfort and impact absorption of the hip protector needs to be tested and then a hip protector design will be finalized by considering the hip protector's size, material, comfort testing results, aesthetic appeal, protection effectiveness, and practical utility of everyday use.

  • We have made knitwear in a different way from the typical woven pattern; it does not have the dart, even for women's tops. The purpose of this research was to compare the fit and appearance of the torso pattern for circular knitted fabric between virtual try-on garments and real garments. First, a woman in her 20's was scanned by a 3D body scanner, and thus producing a virtual avatar. I prepared knit patterns and created a torso pattern appropriate for circular knitted fabric. Next, I measured the body size of the avatar. The 2D patterns for the torso and sleeves were developed using the Yuka Super ALPHA : Plus. The 3D virtual garments were made from the imported 2D patterns and were then tried on the 3D virtual avatars. Finally, the fit of the real garments and the virtual garments was compared. While the shape of the virtual try-on garments were similar to the real garments, the folding and sagging were different. This study found the length was the same as woven wear. However the actual bust size and the clothing size were the same which is not a typical characteristic of woven wear. In the case of hem measurement, more space was needed than actual body size but less space was needed than in woven patterns.

  • This study analysed overall heat transfer coefficient, heat transmission, and rate of indoor air heating provided by water curtain in order to determine the heat transfer characteristic of double-layered greenhouse equipped with a water curtain system. The air temperatures between the inner and outer layers were determined by the water flow rate and inlet water temperature. Higher water flow rate and inlet water temperature resulted in the increased overall heat transfer coefficient between indoor greenhouse air and water curtain. However, it was found that with higher levels of water flow rate and inlet water temperature, indoor overall heat transfer coefficient was converged about $10W{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}^oC^{-1}$. The low correlation of overall heat transfer coefficient between water curtain and air within double layers was likely because the combination of greenhouse shape, wind speed and outdoor air temperature as well as water curtain affected the heat transfer characteristics. As water flow rate and inlet water temperature increased, the heat transferred into the greenhouse by water curtain also tend to rise. However it was demonstrated that the rate of heat transmission from water curtain into greenhouse with water curtain system using underground water was accounted for 22% to 28% for total heat lost by water curtain. The results of this study which quantify heat transfer coefficient and net heat transfer from water curtain may be a good reference for economical design of water curtain system.

  • The aim of this study is to develop Casual Hanbok design made of Hanji yarn textiles for New Silver generation women. The New silver generation is a coined word which has meaning of a newly silver generation and it is distinguished from pre-silver generation. New silver generation is a generation that is independent and given active role by their age groups and generational characteristic. The concept of silver generation was introduced from maturity market in Japan. This study was based on analysis about their preference of forms, colors, and materials of Casual Hanbok. The survey target were 270 female over age 50 living in Daejeon City. The analysis methods used frequency and percentage. The results were summarized as following. Although almost of them haven't worn Casual Hanbok, they had the positive recognition on wearing one. They preferred longer length jacket to traditional Korean style, shorter length of skirt. They also preferred the traditional sleeve shape and knotted buttons. On the foundation of this fact, 2 styles consist of 5 Casual Hanbok design items made of functional material - Hanji yarn textiles that have antimicrobial, deodorant, quick drying, far infrared radiation which are not harmful to health - for New silver women were suggested. One style was 3 items - blouse, vest, skirt - which are the sense of Korean tradition with activity by patch. The other was 2 items - jacket and skirt - which are the sense of Korean tradition with modern way by quilting. Lastly, these garments were evaluated by 13 experts, they were satisfied with 2 styles and all items. As this study were based on the Elderly women living in Daejeon city, it had the limitation on applying of preference styles to all the New silver generation.

  • A model test is performed to investigate the dynamic behavior of truss type lift gate which is being constructed by the four major rivers project. The gate dimensioned 40 m in width, 9m in height is scaled with the ratio of 1:25 and is made of acryl panel and supplemented weight by lead in the concrete test flume dimensioned 1.2 m in width, 0.5 m in height and 30m in length. Firstly natural frequencies of the model gate are measured and compared with the numerical results for the calibration. The amplitudes of the vibration are measured under the different gate opening, upstream water level conditions. Also models with bottom angle $20^{\circ}$, $35^{\circ}$ and $50^{\circ}$ are tested and compared to find out a proper shape of bottom structure which minimizes the gate vibration. These test results presents a basic data for the guide manuals of gate management and a design method to reduce the gate vibration of truss type lift gate.

  • We describe 2 echinostome species recovered from an Eastern cattle egret, Bubulcus ibis coromandus, from Cheongju-si (city), Chungcheongbuk-do (province), Korea. Total 72 Pegosomum bubulcum specimens were recovered from the bile duct. They were $7,566{\times}2,938{\mu}m$ in average size and had 27 collar spines with vitelline extension from anterior 1/3 level of the esophagus to mid-level of the posterior testis as characteristic features. Total 9 specimens of Nephrostomum ramosum were recovered in the small intestines of the bird. They were ribbon-shaped, $11,378{\times}2,124{\mu}m$ in average size, and morphologically variable in some organs, i.e., the number of collar spines (47-50), the shape of ovary and testes, and the extension of vitelline follicles. These morphological variations observed in a single host indicated that these features are not critical for the classification of Nephrostomum species and thus were reconsidered taxonomically as synonym of N. ramosum. This study is the first report documenting and describing both flukes and their associated genera in Korea.

  • The effect of heat loss on combustion performance and burning velocity of micro combustors in various conditions were exploited experimentally. Three different gases were used, and various geometric matrixes were considered to figure out the phenomena of combustion in a micro combustor. The micro combustors used in this study were constant volume combustors and had cylindrical shape. Geometric parameter of combustor was defined as combustor height and diameter. The effect of height was exploited parametrically as 1mm, 2mm and 3 mm and the effect of diameter was parameterized to be 7.5 mm and 15 mm. Three different combustibles which were Stoichiometric mixtures of methane and air, hydrogen and air, and mixture of hydrogen and air with fuel stoichiometry of two were used. By pressure measurement and visualization of flame propagation, characteristic of flame propagation was obtained. Flame propagations which were synchronized with pressure change within combustor were analyzed. From the analysis of images obtained during the flame propagations, burning velocity at each location of flame was obtained. About $7\%$ decrease in burning velocity of $CH_4/Air$ stoichiometric mixture compared with previous a empirical result was observed, and we can conclude that it is acceptable to use empirical equations for laminar premixed flame burning velocity to micro combustions. Results presented in this paper will give fine tool for analysis and prediction of combustion process within micro combustors.

  • Recently, according to increase in the requirement of electric power, a thermoelectric power plant equipped with pulverized coal combustion system is highly valued, because coal has abundant deposits and a low price compared with others. For efficient use of coal fuel, most of plant makers are studying to improve combustion performance and flame stability, and reduce pollutant emission. One of these studies is how to control the profile of particle injection and velocity dependant on coal nozzle. Basically, a mixed flow of gas and particle in coal nozzle is required to have appropriate injection and concentration distribution at exit to achieve flame stability and low pollutant, but it is very difficult to obtain that without help of a coal separating device within nozzle. In this study, each distribution of air and coal flow rate is measured for the coal nozzle with coal separator developed by us. The coal concentration at exit is various according to inlet swirl values and positions of coal separator. Also pressure drop is measured for various operating conditions of this nozzle. From these results, we can find the separation characteristic of new developed coal separator, and select proper operation range of coal nozzle. When this coal nozzle is applied to actual plant, these investigations will be very useful to confirm the shape of coal separator to have efficient particle injection.

  • Purpose: Many fingertip injuries are associated with nail injury and it is hard to repair to original shape due to its unique characteristic. Mucosal graft is used for a defect of the nail bed injury. Hereby, we introduce a DAP flap and buccal mucosal graft, with which we could reduce the defect size of the injured fingertip and donor site morbidity at the same time, without any need for harvesting additional skin from other part of hand. Also, mucosal graft makes good cosmetic and functional outcome of nail. Methods: This method was performed in a 56-year-old man with fingertip injury on dorsal side of left thumb due to electrical saw. First, DAP flap was performed on the injured finger to reduce the size of the defect of fingertip and cover the bone exposure. Second, nail bed part of the DAP flap was de-epithelized and buccal mucosal graft was done from left side of intraoral cavity wall. Results: Flap and graft survived without any necrosis but some nail bed could not be covered with flap due to insufficient flap size. All wounds healed well and did not present any severe adversary symptoms. Conclusion: DAP flap with mucosal graft is an effective method that we can easily apply in reconstruction of fingertip injury. We suggest that the combination of the two procedures makes good functional and cosmetic outcome compared to the usual manner, especially in cases of nail bed injury without distal phalanx bone defect.
