Despite various policies have been implemented to curb shadow education in Korea, it has continued to grow in recent two decades. This study investigates the expansion mechanism of shadow education focused on mobilization capabilities and market strategies of the suppliers. The success and failure of policy toward shadow education depends on how effectively it could block off the way by which the suppliers as the most important actors in politics of shadow education market mobilize consumers' anxieties. But shadow education policies have failed in two points. First, they have lacked honest intention to stop its proliferation. The Constitutional Court Decision Against Anti-Out-Of-School Classes Legislation of 2000 widened the windows of opportunity for the suppliers, and 5.31 educational reform of 1995 was neutral to their mobilization capabilities, though seemingly designed to control shadow education. This policy orientation, which reflected neoliberal Gesinnungsethik defective of Verantwortungsethik, stimulated shadow education to expand in that suppliers' mobilization capabilities were reinforced or remained intact. Second, shadow education suppliers have succeeded in mobilizing the desire and anxiety of potential consumers. To cope with government's policy including improving the qualities of public education, realignment of college entrance systems, and meeting the shadow education needs, they have developed various market strategies such as management of existing demands, creation of responsive demands, and squeezing out new demands. They have succeeded in nullifying policies by employing or mixing strategies with effect. Policy decisions in the future need to be made with reference to Verantwortungsethik, and be more cautious to socio-political contexts of Korea, to mobilization capabilities and market strategies of the suppliers in particular.
This research suggests a solution to the problem of excessive shadow education in Korea as a way to compare the shadow education and income redistribution programs of advanced welfare states. The government has introduced a variety of measures to overcome the problem of excessive shadow education for a long time. However, the trend of increasing shadow education costs has not stopped. The excessive use of shadow education is definitely related to university entrance. But university entrance is not the only concern. In our country, the meaning of university is closely related to the standard of future life. Therefore, participation in shadow education is a reasonable choice by parents or students to ensure a stable future. The belief that the future life can be stabilized when you go to a prestigious university and the reality in the labor market, which reflects this belief, is the essential cause of excessive shadow education. Advanced welfare states such as Sweden and Germany provide hope for our nation. There are shadow education in these countries, too. However, the importance is not so great and its roles are not necessarily directly related to college entrance exams. For the income redistribution programs guarantee the life of all members of society at a certain level. The solution to the problem of excessive shadow education is not the admission system but the improvement of the income security system.
In this study of the relative effectiveness of constructivist and non-constructivist approaches to shadow activity for young children, 59 children in two kindergarten classes were assigned to constructivist or non constructivist conditions. Each group participated in 12 units covering shadow search, shadow making, changing shadow size, changing shadow position, and shadow disappearance. Analysis of covariance of differences between the mean scores of the two groups on the posttests of shadow concepts and scientific attitudes revealed that the children in the constructivist group performed better than the children in the non-constructivist group. This confirms the constructivist approach to shadow activities as good science activities for young children by promoting their active experimentation using reasoning about light to foster spatio-causal relations construction.
This study investigated the effects of teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies applied to the unit, 'The Light and Shadow' in elementary school. Two classes of the second grade elementary students (N=63) in Chungcheongbukdo districts were assigned to control and treatment groups each, and were taught about 'The Light and Shadow' for 8 class hours. For the treatment group, teaching-learning lesson plan using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies developed by this research was applied. The traditional instruction by textbook and teacher's guides was used for the control group. All students were tested with the test for concept of the shadow and the test for academic achievement about the unit. As the result of the post-test, the scores of the treatment group were higher than those of the control group. However, it was not statistically meaningful difference. The scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the delayed-post-test for concept of the shadow. No significant interaction was observed with respect to the students' gender, instruction and pre-level for the concept of the shadow. Data analysis indicated that the scores of the treatment group were significantly higher than those of the control group in the post-test and delayed- post-test for the concept of the shadow in the area of object permanence. Our research work shows the effectiveness of the teaching-learning lesson using cognitive acceleration instructional strategies for the development for concept of the shadow for elementary school students, and suggests the necessity for this kind of teaching-learning program in the fields.
This study conducted a qualitative study on 23 seniors over 55 years old to understand the digital behavior of seniors in the online education acceptance environment. Grounded Theory methodology was applied to the initial enrollment behavior, login behavior, and utilization behavior of online education program. Through the process of open coding, axis coding, and selective coding, the framework in the online education environment of the senior generation was finally derived. As a causal conditions for the senior generation to participate in the online education environment, goal orientation, relationship orientation, leisure orientation and external compulsory were derived, and shadow work appeared as the central phenomenon. Also, contextual conditions resulted in social change, physical and cognitive aging, and psychological atrophy. The intervening conditions included digital device acceptance, educational attitudes, environmental factors, and self-efficacy. Based on this, the action/interactions strategy formed a positive and negative attitude toward shadow work. As a result, positive response behavior, compromising behavior, and shadow work avoidance behavior were shown. It is hoped that this study will be reflected in future researches for the use of digital devices of the elderly and the expansion of online education participation and government policy.

The limited number of roads and the increasing number of vehicles demand the automatic regulation of overspeed vehicles, illegal vehicles, and overloaded vehicles and the automatic charge calculation depending on the type of the vehicle. To meet such requirements, it is important to remove the shadow of the vehicle as processing and recognizing an image captured by a camera. The shadow of the vehicle is likely to cause misclassification of the vehicle type due to diverse errors and mistakes occurring when detecting geometrical properties of the vehicle. In case that shadows of two different vehicles are overlapped, not only the type of the vehicles may be misclassified but also it is difficult to accurately identify the type of the vehicles. In this paper, we propose a robust algorithm to remove the shadow of a vehicle by calculating the luminance, the chrominance, the gradient density of the cast shadow from information acquired using the image subtraction of the background, and to recognize the substantial vehicle figure. Even when it is hard to detect and split a target vehicle from its shadow as shadows of vehicles are attached to each other, our robust algorithm can detect the vehicle figure only. We implemented our system with a general camera and conducted experiments on various vehicles on general roads to find out our vehicle shade removal algorithm is efficient when detecting and recognizing vehicles.
In a dynamic IT environment, employees often utilize external IT resources to work more efficiently and flexibly. However, the use of external IT resources beyond its control may cause difficulties in the company. This is known as "Shadow IT." In spite of efficiency gains or cost savings, Shadow IT presents problems for companies such as the outflow of enterprise data. To address these problems, appropriate measures are required to maintain a balance between flexibility and control. Therefore, in this study, we developed a new information security management system called AIIMS (Advanced IT service & Information security Management System) and the Shadow IT Evaluation Model. The proposed model reflects a Shadow IT's attributes such as innovativeness, effectiveness, and ripple effect. AIIMS consists of five fields: current analysis; Shadow IT management plans; management process; education and training; and internal audit. There are additional management items and sub-items within these five fields. Using AIIMS, we expect to not only mitigate the potential risks of Shadow IT but also create successful business outcomes. Now is the time to draw to the Light in the Shadow IT.
The purpose of this study is comparing cognitive development of elementary $4^{th}$ graders and cognitive demand of activities in lesson 'The mirror and the shadow.' Also, the researchers tried to reveal how cognitive development of elementary $4^{th}$ graders and cognitive demand of textbook activities affects the achievement of students. To study students' cognitive development, the researchers use GALT(Group Assessment of Logical Thinking). Piaget's scientific thinking is used to evaluate cognitive demand of textbook activities. With several experts in science education the researchers discussed which scientific thinking is contained in each activities. The results were followed as : (1) The third of activities are significantly affected by students' cognitive development. (2) The another third of activities are influenced by not only students' cognitive development but also other factors experimental instrument. (3) The environmental factors had meaningful impact on the other third of activities.

The purpose of this study is to develop a neuropsychological model for the spatial ability factor and to divide the brain active area involved in the light & shadow problem solving process into the domain-general ability and the domain-specific ability based on the neuropsychological model. Twenty-four male college students participated in the study to measure the synchronized eye movement and electroencephalograms (EEG) while they performed the spatial ability test and the light & shadow tasks. Neuropsychological model for the spatial ability factor and light & shadow problem solving process was developed by integrating the measurements of the participants' eye movements, brain activity areas, and the interview findings regarding their thoughts and strategies. The results of this study are as follows; first, the spatial visualization and mental rotation factors mainly required activation of the parietal lobe, and the spatial orientation factor required activation of the frontal lobe. Second, in the light & shadow problem solving process, participants use both their spatial ability as a domain-general thought, and the application of scientific principles as a domain-specific thought. The brain activity patterns resulting from a participants' inferring the shadow by parallel light source and inferring the shadow when the direction of the light changed were similar to the neuropsychological model for the spatial visualization factor. The brain activity pattern from inferring an object from its shadow by light from multiple directions was similar to the neuropsychological model for the spatial orientation factor. The brain activity pattern from inferring a shadow with a point source of light was similar to the neuropsychological model for the spatial visualization factor. In addition, when solving the light & shadow tasks, the brain's middle temporal gyrus, precentral gyrus, inferior frontal gyrus, middle frontal gyrus were additionally activated, which are responsible for deductive reasoning, working memory, and planning for action.
Based on the theory of a falling shadow which was first formulated by Wang([14]), a theoretical approach of the ideal structure in BH-algebras is established. The notions of a falling subalgebra, a falling ideal, a falling strong ideal, a falling $n$-fold strong ideal and a falling translation ideal of a BH-algebra are introduced. Some fundamental properties are investigated. Relations among a falling subalgebra, a falling ideal and a falling strong ideal, a falling $n$-fold strong ideal are stated. A relation between a fuzzy subalgebra/ideal and a falling subalgebra/ideal is provided.
