In this study, methyl methacrylate (MMA) - modified polymer mortar(MMPM) was developed and its setting shrinkage and working life properties were surveyed. In order to study the setting shrinkage, setting shrinkage test for the 24 batches were also conducted with taking the MMA monomer content to the UP resin and the mixed content of shrinkage reducing agent(SRA) as variables. Furthermore, in order to study the working life measured gel time, working time, setting time of MMPM and binder. Experimental resurts show that the workability remarkably improved as the mixed MMA content increased. The working life was proportional to MEKPO content and was shorted. also, showed high interrelationship of binder gel time and MMPM working life. Setting shrinkage markedly reduced as the content of MMA and the SRA increased.

The purpose of this study is to examine the influences of polystyrene content and St/UP on the setting shrinkage and strengths of polymer mortar with waste expanded polystyrene resin as a shrinkage-reducing agent, and to recommend the optimum binder formulations for product of low-shrinkage polymer mortar. In this paper, polymer mortar is prepared with waste expanded polystyrene content and St/UP, and tested for setting shrinkage, flexural and compressive strengths. From the test results, irrespective of increasing of waste expanded polystyrene resin, the strengths reduction of polymer mortar with waste expanded polystyrene(EPS) resin is not recognized. And the setting shrinkage is reduced with EPS resin content. The waste expanded polystyrene resin as a shrinkage-reducing agent can be used in the same manner as commercial polystyrene resin. In this study, we can obtain the optimum mix proportions of polymer mortar using EPS resin.
Drying shrinkage cracking which may be caused by the relatively large specific surface is a matter of grave concern for latex modified concrete(LMC) overlay and rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) overlay. Therefore, the purpose of this dissertation was to study the drying shrinkage properties of LMC and RSLMC with the main experimental variables such as cement types(ordinary portland cement, rapid setting cement), latex contents(0, 5, 10, 15, 20%), W-C ratios, and curing days at a same controlled environment of 60% of relative humidity and $20^{\circ}C$ of temperature. Test results revealed that the drying shrinkage of latex modified concrete(LMC), rapid-setting cement latex modified concrete(RSLMC) was considerably lower than that of ordinary portland cement concrete(OPC), rapid-setting cement concrete(RSC), respectively. This may be attributed to the interlocking of hydrated cement and aggregates by a film of latex particles, water retention due to hydrophobic and colloidal properties of the latexes, resulting in reduced water evaporation.
To examine the physical properties of POY through the microstructure control, the crystal structure such as the crystallinity, the crystallite size, the orientation, the shrinkage, the tensile properties, and the thermal stress of POY(80/48, SD) were examined at different draw ratios and annealing temperatures. From the examination following conclusions were obtained : 1. The crystallinity was more effected by the heat setting temperature than by the draw ratio. The increasing rate was greatest at the heat setting temperature range of $170~190^\circ{C}$. 2. The crystallite size perpendicular to the fiber axis was more effected by the annealing temperature at lower draw ratios. On the other hand, the crystal and amorphous orientations were more effected by the heat setting at higher draw ratios. 3. The boiling shrinkage did not change significantly, but the total shrinkage showed 13% at the draw ratio 1.9 and the heat setting temperature $170^\circ{C}$. 4. The maximum thermal stress increased with increasing the draw ratio and decreasing the heat setting temperature in the temperature range of $170~210^\circ{C}$. At the draw ratio 1.9 and the heat setting temperature $170^\circ{C}$, the maximum thermal stress found was 1.1gf/d. 5. In the heat setting temperature above $170^\circ{C}$ after the drawing, the crystallinity, the crystallite size, the orientation, and the strength increased with increasing temperature, but the shrinkage and the maximum thermal stress decreased with increasing temperature.

The effects of polymer-binder ratio, antifoamer content and shrinkage-reducing agent content on the setting time and drying shrinkage of high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes are examined. As a result, the setting time of the high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes tends to delayed with increasing polymer-binder ratio. Irrespective of the antifoamer content, the drying shrinkage of the high-fluidity polymer-modified pastes tend to decrease with increasing polymer-cement ratio and shrinkage-reducing agent content.

In this research it was attempted to analyze the general engineering properties of low cement mortar according to the type of setting accelerator and substitution rate, when 1% substitution rate for setting accelerator was used a high rate of compressive strength manifestation was shown and that the WS-10 type setting accelerator was appropriate. For the rate of change of length, when 3% substitution rate for setting accelerator was used, it was shown that due to initial expansion the shrinkage compensation was not significant, and when taking into consideration strength and shrinkage, 1% of WS-10 was shown to be appropriate.

The recently developed Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) displays outstanding compressive strength and ductility but is also subjected to very large autogenous shrinkage. In addition, the use of forms and reinforcement to confine this autogenous shrinkage increases the risk of shrinkage cracking. Accordingly, this study adopts a combination of shrinkage reducing admixture and expansive admixture as a solution to reduce the shrinkage of UHPC and estimates its appropriateness by evaluating the compressive and flexural strengths as well as the autogenous shrinkage according to the age. Moreover, the coefficient of thermal expansion known to experience sudden variations at early age is measured in order to evaluate exactly the autogenous shrinkage and the thermal expansion is compensated considering these measurements. The experimental results show that the compressive and flexural strengths decreased slightly at early age when mixing 7.5% of expansive admixture and 1% of shrinkage reducing admixture but that this decrease becomes insignificant after 7 days. The use of expansive admixture tended to premature the setting of UHPC and the start of sudden increase of autogenous shrinkage. Finally, the combined use of shrinkage reducing admixture and expansive admixture appeared to reduce effectively the autogenous shrinkage by about 47% at 15 days.

Many different polymer based concrete materials are known today, but the large setting or hardening shrinkage of polymer concrete is a problem to overcome in their practical applications. The setting shrinkage reaches about five to ren times he drying shrinkage ordinary cement concrete, i.e, 50 to $60\times10^{-4}$. This paper deals with a reduction in the hardening shrinkage of unsaturated polyester resin concrete which is treated with respect to shrinkage-reducing agent content, S/a ratio and catalyst content, and tested for length change during hardening, and flexural and compressive strength. It is show that the change of shrinkage-reducing agent content and S/a ratio affected the length change of the unsaturated polyester resin concrete during hardening.
In this study, we determine the stretch and shrinkage properties of conjugated yarns. The shrinkage(%) and elasticity(%) were determined by applying twist conditions of 0, 350, 800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, 2000 T/M (twisting per meter). It is found that the shrinkage(%) and elasticity(%) gradually decreased with increasing T/M. Especially the elasticity(%) dramatically decreased over 1400 T/M condition. In contrast, it is showed that the handle and drapery properties decreased below 1000 T/M, which indicates that the optimal T/M condition could be 1000~1400. The effect of shrinkage(%) and elasticity(%) with different steam setting temperatures (60, 70, 80 and $90^{\circ}C$) was also determined. The shrinkage(%) decreased with increasing setting temperature, while the elasticity not changed. In this context, the optimal steam setting temperature could be $80^{\circ}C$ because it is not easy to weave with the yarns which was set below $80^{\circ}C$. The elasticity(%) decreased with increasing the density of warp and weft. To produce soft handle, excellent drapery and good stretch fabrics, the warp density needs to be reached by 90% of the ideal warp density. In the case of NaOH treatments to the fabrics, the elasticity(%) increased with increasing weight reduction. Therefore, this study have demonstrated that the conjugated yarns with core yarn and the SDY CD(cation dyeable spindraw yarn) as an effect yarn would be appropriate to produce excellent mixture-yarn, which displays clean appearance, good handle and excellent elasticity, The optimized conditions are as follows; 1000~1200 twist per meter, $80^{\circ}C$ steam setting temperature, 90% of ideal warp density and relaxation condition treated with 5g/l NaOH concentration.
