In a large signal intersection, it is the most important to set phase sequences and phase intervals of traffic signal in order to improve the efficiency of the capacity as well as safety. These setting allows to select the best sequence of signal phase among several alternatives, and thus to rearrange the starting and ending points of the individual phase using an effective interphase periods (EIP). The EIP is a gap between previous and current traffic movements at a potential collision point in an intersection. Each of traffic movements has an equality for safety and efficiency at the balanced condition of EIP. This paper presents how to set optimally the phase sequences and intervals of traffic signal in an intersection using phase based approach. And in the second part, we applied the theory developed in the first part. In particular, a numerical example of phase base signal setting is presented using a matrix computation method in order to select the best sequence among several alternatives, and thus to rearrange the starting and ending points of the individual phase using the EIP. This method also allows to apply to optimum signal setting even in five-lag or staggered-type intersection.
The parabolic Bergman space is the set of $L^p(\lambda)$-solution of the parabolic operator $L^{(\alpha)}$. In this paper, we study representin sequences on parabolic Bergman spaces. We establish a discrete version of the reproducing formula on parabolic Bergman spaces by using fractional derivatives of the fundamental solution of the parabolic operator.
We present empirical fiducial sequences for horizontal-branch (HB) stars in a set of bright Galactic globular clusters previously observed in SDSS (An et al. 2008). Mean loci of HB stars are derived on color-magnitude diagrams with multiple color indices (u - g, g - r, g - i, and g - z ) in order to identify foreground/background objects as well as cluster RR Lyrae variables. We compare our fiducial sequences to the model predictions from Yonsei-Yale isochrones and test the accuracy of the stellar evolution models.
In this paper, we introduce rough statistical convergence of difference double sequences in normed linear spaces as an extension of rough convergence. We define the set of rough statistical limit points of a difference double sequence and analyze the results with proofs.

This study was conducted to distinguish the pines that are too similar to differentiate using conventional methods. Pinus densiflora and Pinus sylvestris have similar anatomical structure. They both have window-like pits and dentate ray tracheids, so it is not easy to distinguish the plants. We tried to find molecular markers by comparing chloroplast DNA sequences to differentiate the pines growing in Korea. We used P. densiflora, P. densiflora for. multicaulis, P. sylvestris, P. rigida, P. rigitaeda, P. koraiensis, and P. bungeana for this study. We found that the non-coding intergenic region of trnT(UGU) and trnL(UAA) genes have differences among the species. We designed a primer set to amplify the region efficiently and compared the PCR product sequences using CLC Workbench programs to find the polymorphism. We could distinguish the species using the sequences of the amplified region and the sequences were reproducible from the pines collected in Korea.

This paper describes a research work to develop a computer-aided design for the product made by progressive working of bending and piercing. An approach to the system for progressive working is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from plasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. The system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD with a personal computer and is composed of three main modules, which are input and shape treatment, flat pattern layout, strip layout modules. The system is designed by considering several factors, such as piercing and bending sequences by fuzzy set theory, complexities of blank geometry, punch profiles, and the availability of a press equipment. Strip layout drawing generated in the strip layout module is presented in 3-D graphic forms, including piercing and bending sequences with punch profiles divided into for external area. Results obtained using the modules enable the manufacturer for progressive working of electric products to be more efficient in this field.

This paper deals with an automated computer-aided process planning and die design system by which designer can determine operation sequences even if they have a little experience in process planning and die design for axisymmetric products. An attempt is made to link programs incorporating a number of expert design rules with the process variables obtained by commercial FEM softwares, DEFORM and ANSYS, to form a useful package. The system is composed of four main modules. The process planning and the die design modules consider several factors, such as the complexities of preform geometry, punch and die profiles, specifications of available multi former, and the availability of standard parts. They can provide a flexible process based on either the reduction in the number of forming sequences by combining the possible two processes in sequence, or the reduction of deviation of the distribution on the level of the required forming loads by controlling the forming ratios. Especially in die design module an optimal design technique and horizontal split die were investigated for determining appropriate dimensions of components of multi-former die set. It is constructed that the proposed method can be beneficial for improving the tool life of die set at practice.
Objectives : Aucklandiae Radix (Muxiang) one of important herbal medicines in oriental medicine, is defined as the dried root of Aucklandia lappa (Asteraceae). Owing to the similarities in the morphology and name, Inulae Radix (Tu-Muxiang) and Vladimiriae Radix (Chuan-Muxiang) as well as Aristolochiae Radix (Qing-Muxiang) originated from other medicinal plants are often used as substitutes and/or adulterants of Aucklandiae Radix. Therefore, a reliable authentication of these herbal medicines is necessarily for the public health and prevention of misuse. Methods : 32 samples of medicinal plants supplying Aucklandiae Radix, Inulae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, and Aristolochiae Radix were collected in Korea and China. The ITS (Internal transcribed spacer) nucleotide sequences of samples were determined. The PCR primers to amply DNA marker of each herbal medicine were designed basing on the specific ITS regions showing differences in the sequences among medicinal plants. Results : Primer set Al R/IS F designed in this work amplified 220 bp PCR product only in samples of Aucklandiae Radix. In contrast, primer set Ih F/IS R, Vs R/IS F, and AcR F1/Ac R amplified 250 bp product, 356 bp prouct, and 516 bp product respectively to identify Inulae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, and Aristolochiae Radix. Conclusions : The primers designed basing on the nucleotide sequences of ITS regions appearing differenced in the sequences among medicinal plants amplified the DNA markers for the identification of Aucklandiae Radix, Inulae Radix, Vladimiriae Radix, and Aristolochiae Radix. These herbal medicines were more efficiently identified by multiplex PCR method using all primers in a single PCR process.
For the investigation of conserved regions in lipase genes, 132 and 24 sequences were obtained from LED (Lipase Engineering Database) and COG (Clusters of Orthologous Groups of proteins), respectively. There was high diversity in lipase genes and peculiar amino acid sequences were conserved for each homologous family of LED. Similar conserved amino acid sequences were detected from COG0657 and Moraxella lipase 1 homologous group of LED. Although many studies have attempted to detect new lipase genes in procaryotes, they have been limited culturable bacteria. The importance of metagenome, including DNA from non-culturable bacteria, is known. Due to the high diversity, we assumed it might be possible to detect new lipase gene from metagenome. Due to the high diversity of nucleotide sequences in lipase genes, 10 primer sets were designed. Designed primer sets were inspected in BLAST of NCBI and they could amplify a part of the lipase gene from 222 to 713 bp. They can amplify 16.7%∼60.0% of each lipase homologous group which was 3.6 fold higher than each sets. They might offer a high probability of detecting new lipase genes, owing to high efficiency and the diversity of lipase genes.
Moving objects in video data are main elements for video analysis and retrieval. In this paper, we propose a new algorithm for tracking and segmenting moving objects in color image sequences that include complex camera motion such as zoom, pan and rotating. The Proposed algorithm is based on the Mean-shift color segmentation and stochastic region matching method. For segmenting moving objects, each sequence is divided into a set of similar color regions using Mean-shift color segmentation algorithm. Each segmented region is matched to the corresponding region in the subsequent frame. The motion vector of each matched region is then estimated and these motion vectors are summed to estimate global motion. Once motion vectors are estimated for all frame of video sequences, independently moving regions can be segmented by comparing their trajectories with that of global motion. Finally, segmented regions are merged into the independently moving object by comparing the similarities of trajectories, positions and emerging period. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm is capable of segmenting independently moving objects in the video sequences including complex camera motion.
