Optimal Design of Feedforward Control Input for Settling Control in Servo Track Writer (Servo Track Writer 의 Settling Control 을 위한 Feedforward 제어 입력의 최적 설계)

  • 최근 Hard Disk Drive(HDD)는 컴퓨터 산업의 발달과 함께 멀티미디어 어플리케이션의 요구에 따라 대용량화 추세에 있다. 이러한 대용량 HDD 는 고밀도, 고정밀의 track 정보가 필요하게 되고, 이는 HDD 생산에 고속, 고정밀의 Servo Track Writer(STW)를 필요로 하게 되었다. 그러나, 기존의 STW 는 PID 제어기에 공진 모드 제거를 위한 notch filter 를 사용하기 때문에 고속화에는 한계가 있어 track 정보를 기록하는 생산시간의 단축이 어렵다. 본 논문에서는 이를 위하여 기존의 STW 에 공진 모드의 여기를 최소화하기 위해 제어 입력의 profile 을 설계하는데 convex optimization 을 이용한 최적화 기법을 사용하였다. 이렇게 설계된 제어 입력은 플랜트의 공진 모드가 존재하는 주파수 대역에 에너지를 최소화시켜 공진 모드의 영향을 적게 받는다. 그 결과로 빠른 settling time 과 위치 정밀도가 향상된다. 그 효과는 모의 실험을 통해 검증하였다.

Methodology on Improving Vibration Characteristics of Servo Write Fixture (서보라이트 픽스쳐의 진동 특성 개선 방법)

  • This paper presents a method to improve vibration characteristics of servo track write (STW) fixture. STW fixtures supported by flexible mounts are subject to various vibration sources. Using Finite element analysis (FEA) vibration modes of the fixture are identified. The FEA results suggest certain vibration modes be reduced through design change of flexible mounts to improve vibration responses of the fixture. Based on layered flexible mounts theory a parametric study on shear and bending stiffness is performed to obtain a suitable flexible mount design leading to increased resistance to rocking motion. Experiments confirm improvement of vibration characteristics and drive performance through new mounts design.

  • Recently, methods of verification for electro-hydraulic servo controllers are various and the required number of testing controllers is continuously increasing in some specific systems. In this study, a PCB-based electronic simulator of hydraulic actuators is designed and developed to simplify test set-up for controllers and to facilitate alteration for characteristics of the simulator. Several features to reduce required time and manpower for verifying controllers are described. Especially, the simulator is considerably efficient to examine some controllers for different hydraulic actuators in a test. Response characteristics of the simulator are compared with those of real actuators to demonstrate validity of this method. Results reveal utilizing the designed simulator for inspecting controllers is equally effective as using hydraulic actuators.

  • This paper presents the realization of the vector control for AC servo motor using a high performance DSP, TMX320F2812. This DSP has some special peripheral circuits to drive a AC Servo motor as AD converter, QEP and so on. It makes us reduce the time of developing a control system and also can be simple size controller. The vector control algorithm for instantaneous torque control and SVPWM algorithm by offset voltage methods is adopted and we got the satisfactory results.

  • In this paper a drive strategy of AC Servo Motor using Fuzzy method was proposed. Since the transfer function of the plant is nonlinear and very complicated, there are difficultly in driving the system with real time. The performance of out method is confirmed by computer simulation and experimental results. The high performance and high accuracy of the driving system. Fuzzy is designed and proposed.

  • In optical disk drive (ODD), disk rotation speed has been increasing rapidly to achieve high data transfer rate. High servo bandwidths for focusing and tracking actuator are required to follow dynamic disturbance by high rotation speed in ODD. However, the servo bandwidth is significantly limited by some vibration modes which are induced by the flexibility of moving part. In this work, the vibration modes affecting bandwidth of actuators are suppressed by modifying actuating force by VCM. For this, the relation between the horizontal component of the actuating force and vibration mode is analyzed and force characteristic affecting to vibration mode is obtained through electromagnetic and structural analysis using simulation program.

  • This study studied how the clearance, overlap and mismatch errors of spool-sleeve affect the static pressure characteristics of a servo valve. A computer simulation model was established as a direct acting servo valve and a series of simulations was conducted for various values of clearance, overlap and mismatch errors. Pressure gain decreased as the clearance increased. The overlap also affects the pressure gain and was similar to the effect of clearance. Asymmetry of the pressure plot got worse and worse as the mismatch error increased.

  • In this paper an electro-hydraulic servo system is designed by using a fuzzy control algorithm. In order to drive an optimal fuzzy control system, a simulation program for the control system has been developed. By this program the fuzzifier and defuzzifier, a fuzzy inference method, a fuzzy relational matrix, and a fuzzy inference method are investigated. As a result, Larsen inference method, 9*9 fuzzy relational matrix, and center of area defuzzifier are turned out the best as parameters. Finally this method is compared with the conventional PID algotithm, and showed that the fuzzy control performs better than PID algorithm. The fuzzy control performs very well adap- tation against uncertain disturbances.

  • An improved disturbance rejection control scheme is presented for minimizing the position error due to the repeatable runout disturbances in high density disk drive systems The proposed control algorithm is capable of attenuating repeatable disturbances which is one of the major detractors to hard disk drive quality and performance. This is achieved by a sys-tematic combination of an optimal feedback component and a feedforward preview component. The feedback component is designed where the emphasis is placed on robustness. The feedforward component is on the basis of a preview control comprised of a measured disturbance signals which leads to better disturbance rejection capabilites. The designed con-troller is applied as a plug-in module to a high density hard disk drive with a pre-existing conventional servo controller. Simulations have been carried out to demonstrate the effectiveness of this control scheme in the reduction of the periodic disturbances.
