Using weighted Support Vector Machine to address the imbalanced classes problem of Intrusion Detection System

  • Improving the intrusion detection system (IDS) is a pressing need for cyber security world. With the growth of computer networks, there are constantly daily new attacks. Machine Learning (ML) is one of the most important fields which have great contribution to address the intrusion detection issues. One of these issues relates to the imbalance of the diverse classes of network traffic. Accuracy paradox is a result of training ML algorithm with imbalanced classes. Most of the previous efforts concern improving the overall accuracy of these models which is truly important. However, even they improved the total accuracy of the system; it fell in the accuracy paradox. The seriousness of the threat caused by the minor classes and the pitfalls of the previous efforts to address this issue is the motive for this work. In this paper, we consolidated stratified sampling, cost function and weighted Support Vector Machine (WSVM) method to address the accuracy paradox of ID problem. This model achieved good results of total accuracy and superior results in the small classes like the User-To-Remote and Remote-To-Local attacks using the improved version of the benchmark dataset KDDCup99 which is called NSL-KDD.

  • This research study aimed to examine the seriousness related to sodium over intakes that is becoming a global issue, evaluate how the recognition of sodium-reduced products and its acceptance can influence the intention of purchasing sodium-reduced products, and generate basic data for establishment of marketing strategy of campaigns such as reducing sodium intake and commercialization of sodium-reduced products. According to the results of the research, the acceptance of sodium-reduced products significantly influenced the purchasing intention of sodium-reduced products, while the attitude towards sodium and recognition of sodium did not significantly influence the purchasing intention of sodium-reduced products. Extension of these research findings to ordinary people and the analysis of main causes that affect the recognition of sodium-reduced products and purchasing intention provide a solid basis for efficient sodium-reduction publicity and development of directions for campaigns.

  • The internet is currently becoming popularized and generalized in our daily life. Recently, a lot of hacking tools have appeared on the internet. And damage size and seriousness the measurement is impossible. The password security protects oneself and information is the tool which is essential for from the internet, if this emphasizes no matter how, does not go to extremes. If applies a encryption, a 7 character password is sufficient, so long as attackers don't pick easily guessed values. In this paper, entering password using the virtual keyboard, I propose a new and improved one time password algorithm using information a part of ID and final approval time.

Features Related to Smoking and Psychological Characteristics of Coronary Artery Patients Associated with the Stage of Change in Smoking Cessation (금연변화단계에 따른 관상동맥질환자들의 흡연관련 특성과 심리적 특성)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate differences in smoking related characteristics and psychological features of coronary artery patients by the stages of change in smoking cessation behaviors. Method: Subjects for this survey were 97 patients who were smoking when doctors diagnosed them to have coronary artery diseases. Result: Subjects were distributed 21.6% in precontemplation stage, 24.7% in contemplation stage, 17.5% in preparation stage, 19.6% in action stage, and 16.5% in maintenance stage respectively. The numbers of previous attempts to quit smoking of subjects in precontemplation stage(mean=3.00, SD=3.71) and contemplation stage(mean=2.63, SD=2.32) were significantly lower than that of subjects in preparation stage(mean=5.82, SD=6.20). Benefit scores of subjects in maintenance stage were significantly greater than those of subjects in precontemplation stage. Self-efficacy, barriers, seriousness, and nicotine dependency were not significantly different by the stages of change. Number of signs and symptoms related to smoking which subjects were experiencing were not significant by the stages of change too. Conclusion: Future intervention programs for smoking cessation should be focused on the strategies to enhance the realization of health benefits that patients might acquire from smoking cessation.

Effects of Infection Control Training on Dental Hygienists' Health Beliefs and Practices of Infection Control

  • This study aims to determine the changes in health beliefs and practices of dental hygienists on infection control after having received special training on that subject. The study population consisted of dental hygienists working at the dental institutions located in Seoul and Gyeonggi areas. The intervention group and the control group each had randomly assigned 26 dental hygienists. The intervention group received training courses on infection control once a week for 3 hours, for a total of 4 training sessions. We used a survey tool to find the changes between the two groups regarding their health beliefs and practices on infection control measures. The survey was conducted prior to the training sessions, 3 months and 2 weeks after the training. The study results revealed statistically significant increases in perceived sensitivity, perceived seriousness, and perceived benefits after the training courses in the intervention group (p<0.05). A statistically significant decrease in perceived barriers was also noted in the intervention group (p<0.05). Additionally, there was a statistically significant increase in the practice of infection control in the intervention group as compared to the control group (p<0.05). Therefore, we conclude that infection control training is crucial in bringing about positive changes to the health beliefs of dental hygienists, and a structured system is necessary for continuous infection management along with training in order to improve infection control practices.

A Study on the Insulation Performance of the Super window considering the evaluation of Building Energy Rating (지역별 건물에너지 효율에 관한 슈퍼윈도우 단열 성능 평가 연구)

  • Entering in the time of high oil price, seriousness of an energy effect sector has given a huge impact and the importance of energy is growing. Especially, building energy occupying 24% of total demand of energy is expected to be possible to reduce energy demand more than other section. To reduce the building energy consumption, this study analyzes function and thermal performance of Super window by heat experimental apparatus. Super window is a 2-track low-e glazing window for high insulation efficiency. By applying the results of this experiment to building energy efficience rating tool, this study compares energy efficiency rates depending on a region.-Jeju, South, Central. And it shows how much does Super window reduce Building energy consumption.

To do this, the Building Energy Rating System is applied and implemented in Apartment houses on Jeju, South and Central region. This system calculates into energy saving rate, and certifies the building energy rating. This study evaluates the energy saving rate and rating and compares the difference in energy savings considering to each region and the thermal performance of the window. In result, the standard of the assessment house which is applied to the build energy rating system is demanded to distinguish the thermal performance of window according to regional variation.

  • This study were attempted to apply the HACCP system adopted in the dried anchovy workplace to ensure the hygiene safety of dried anchovy workplace. In this study, HACCP system procedures, including HACCP team organization, determination of critical control point(CCP), establishment of critical limits, mornitering and verification etc., were established using KFDA 12 procedures. To determine whether hazards were critical elements, we evaluated the likelihood and seriousness of each hazard element. The likelihood of residual microorganism and metal piece exceeding the acceptable limit in dried anchovy products were demonstrated to be a critical hazard element. Management of the boiling(CCP-1B) and metal detection(CCP-2P) were determined to be a critical control point. The standards for acceptable residual microorganism and metal piece were set based on relevant laws and regulations, and then the limits were adapted and established for the CCP. An HACCP plan applicable to dried anchovy workplace was established.

  • Complex Products may present more than one type of defects and these defects are not always of equal severity. These defects are classified according to their seriousness and effect on product quality and performance. Demerit systems are very effective systems to monitoring the different types of defects. So, classical demerit control chart used to monitor counts of several different types of defects simultaneously in complex products. S.M. Na et al.(2003) proposed the Demerit-CUSUM for the improvement of the demerit control chart performance and Nembhard, D. A. et al.(2001) and G.Y Cho et al.(2004) developed a Demerit control chart using the EWMA technique and evaluated the performance of the control chart. In this paper, we present an effective method for process control using the Demerit-CUSUM with fast initial response. Moreover, we evaluate exact performance of the Demerit-CUSUM control chart with fast initial response, Demerit-CUSUM and Demerit-EWMA according to changing sample size or parameters.
