With the continuous emergence of new applications and cyberattacks and their frequent updates, the need for automatic protocol reverse engineering is gaining recognition. Although several methods for automatic protocol reverse engineering have been proposed, each method still faces major limitations in extracting clear specifications and in its universal application. In order to overcome such limitations, we propose an automatic protocol reverse engineering method using a two-pathway model based on a contiguous sequential pattern (CSP) algorithm. By using this model, the method can infer both command-oriented protocols and non-command-oriented protocols clearly and in detail. The proposed method infers all the key elements of the protocol, which are syntax, semantics, and finite state machine (FSM), and extracts clear syntax by defining fine-grained field types and three types of format: field format, message format, and flow format. We evaluated the efficacy of the proposed method over two non-command-oriented protocols and three command-oriented protocols: the former are HTTP and DNS, and the latter are FTP, SMTP, and POP3. The experimental results show that this method can reverse engineer with high coverage and correctness rates, more than 98.5% and 99.1% respectively, and be general for both command-oriented and non-command-oriented protocols.

The top-down method for SOA delivery is recommended as a best way to take advantage of SOA. The core step of SOA delivery is the step of service modeling including service analysis and design based on ontology. Most enterprises know that the top-down approach is the best but they are hesitant to employ it because it requires them to invest a great deal of time and money without it showing any immediate results, particularly because they use well-defined component based systems. In this paper, we propose a service identification method to use a well-defined components maximally as a bottom-up approach. We assume that user's inputs generates events on a GUI and the approximate business process can be obtained from concatenating the event paths. We first find the core GUIs which have many outgoing event calls and form event paths by concatenating the event calls between the GUIs. Next, we adapt sequential pattern mining algorithms to find the maximal frequent event paths. As an experiment, we obtained business services with various granularity by applying a cohesion metric to extracted frequent event paths.

Multiple earthquakes that occur during short seismic intervals affect the inelastic behavior of the structures. Sequential ground motions against the single earthquake event cause the building structure to face loss in stiffness and its strength. Although, numerous research studies had been conducted in this research area but still significant limitations exist such as: 1) use of traditional design procedure which usually considers single seismic excitation; 2) selecting a seismic excitation data based on earthquake events occurred at another place and time. Therefore, it is important to study the effects of successive ground motions on the framed structures. The objective of this study is to overcome the aforementioned limitations through testing a two storey RC building structural model scaled down to 1/10 ratio through a similitude relation. The scaled model is examined using a shaking table. Thereafter, the experimental model results are validated with simulated results using ETABS software. The test framed specimen is subjected to sequential five artificial and four real-time earthquake motions. Dynamic response history analysis has been conducted to investigate the i) observed response and crack pattern; ii) maximum displacement; iii) residual displacement; iv) Interstorey drift ratio and damage limitation. The results of the study conclude that the low-rise building model has ability to resist successive artificial ground motion from its strength. Sequential artificial ground motions cause the framed structure to displace each storey twice in correlation with vary first artificial seismic vibration. The displacement parameters showed that real-time successive ground motions have a limited impact on the low-rise reinforced concrete model. The finding shows that traditional seismic design EC8 requires to reconsider the traditional design procedure.

At center frequency of 11.85 GHz, wideband left-handed circularly polarized microstrip array antenna is designed with the method of sequential ratation based on $2\times2$ radiation elements($0^{\circ}$, $45^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $135^{\circ}$ phase delay). Its return loss, axial ratio bandwidth, radration pattern, and gain are compared with those adopting sequential rotation based on $1\times2$ radiation elements($0^{\circ}$, $90^{\circ}$, $180^{\circ}$, $270^{\circ}$phase delay). The $8\times8$ array is manufactured and measured. The results show that 10 dB return loss bandwidth is 10.51~12.74GHz(18.82%) which is 1.57 times wider than the case using $1\times2$ sequential rotation method, 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth is 11.43~12.5 GHz(9.03%) which is 1.25 times as wide as that using $1\times2$ sequential rotation method and the antennal gain is 25.4 dB. The results of mesurements are almost similar to those of simulation.
Customer retention is one of the major issues in life insurance industry, in which competition is increasingly fierce. There are many things for the life insurers to do many things to retain the customers. One of those things is to make sure to keep in touch with all customers. When an insurance-planner resigned, his/her customers must be taken care of by some planner-assistants. This article outlines the design of Contact Scheduling System (CSS) that supports planner-assistants for contacting the customers. Planner-assistants are unable to share the resigned insurance-planner's experience and knowledge regarding the customer relationship management. The CSS developed by employing both Classification And Regression Tree (CART) technique and Sequential Pattern Mining (SPM) technique has a two-stage process. In the first stage, it segments the customers into eight groups by CART model. Then it generates contact scheduling information consisting of contact-purpose, contact-interval and contact-channel, according to the segment's typical contact pattern. Contact-purpose is derived by schedule-driven, event-driven, or business-rule-driven. Schedule-driven contact is determined by SPM model. In the operation of CSS in a realistic situation, it shows a practicality in supporting planner-assistants to keep in touch with the customers efficiently and effectively.
Intelligent pipeline inspection gauges (PIGs) are inspection vehicles that move along within a (gas or oil) pipeline and acquire signals (also called sensor data) from their surrounding rings of sensors. By analyzing the signals captured in intelligent PIGs, we can detect pipeline defects, such as holes and curvatures and other potential causes of gas explosions. There are two major data access patterns apparent when an analyzer accesses the pipeline signal data. The first is a sequential pattern where an analyst reads the sensor data one time only in a sequential fashion. The second is the repetitive pattern where an analyzer repeatedly reads the signal data within a fixed range; this is the dominant pattern in analyzing the signal data. The existing PIG software reads signal data directly from the server at every user#s request, requiring network transfer and disk access cost. It works well only for the sequential pattern, but not for the more dominant repetitive pattern. This problem becomes very serious in a client/server environment where several analysts analyze the signal data concurrently. To tackle this problem, we devise a fast in-memory cache manager, called T-Cache, by considering pipeline sensor data as multiple time-series data and by efficiently caching the time-series data at T-Cache. To the best of the authors# knowledge, this is the first research on caching pipeline signals on the client-side. We propose a new concept of the signal cache line as a caching unit, which is a set of time-series signal data for a fixed distance. We also provide the various data structures including smart cursors and algorithms used in T-Cache. Experimental results show that T-Cache performs much better for the repetitive pattern in terms of disk I/Os and the elapsed time. Even with the sequential pattern, T-Cache shows almost the same performance as a system that does not use any caching, indicating the caching overhead in T-Cache is negligible.

This paper propose a new ROM data encoding method that takes into account of a sequential access pattern to reduce the power consumption in ROMs used in applications such as FIR filters that access the ROM sequentially. In the proposed encoding method, the number of 1's, of which the increment leads to the increase of the power consumption, is reduced by applying an exclusive-or (XOR) operation to a bit pair composed of two consecutive bits in a bit line. The encoded data can be decoded by using XOR gates and D flip-flops, which are usually used in digital systems for synchronization and glitch suppression. By applying the proposed encoding method to coefficient ROMs of FIR filters designed by using various design methods, we can achieve average reduction of 43.7% over the unencoded original data in the power consumption, which is larger reduction than those achieved by previous methods.

The movement of the caisson used to construct a wharf front can affect functional performance of the port. Sequential movement of caissons at each stage of the construction is essential in the overall design as well as the stability of the port. It is common that back-analysis using the previous measurement is performed to predict the caisson movement, while there is no intensive study on sequential movement of the caissons according to the construction stage. In the study, we analyzed the pattern of the movement of caissons as a port is constructed. To simulate the construction of the port, the finite element method (FEM) is employed. The computed result shows that the caisson moves differently at each construction stage. When the caisson is being installed, the displacement of the caisson takes place mainly in vertical direction. In next stage of filling rocks behind the caisson, the top of the caisson move toward shore, while the bottom moves toward sea, thus rotating the caisson. The maximum rotation of the caisson takes place in the stage of filling rocks behind the caisson.
Sequential object analysis are playing vital role in real time application in computer vision and object detections.Measuring the similarity in two images are very important issue any authentication activities with how best to compare two independent images. Identification of similarities of two or more sequential images is also the important in respect to moving of neighborhoods pixels. In our study we introduce the morphological and shared near neighborhoods concept which produces a sufficient results of comparing the two images with objects. Considering the each pixel compare with 8-connectivity pixels of second image. For consider the pixels we expect the noise removed images are to be considered, so we apply the morphological transformations such as opening, closing with erosion and dilations. RGB of pixel values are compared for the two sequential images if it is similar we include the pixels in the resultant image otherwise ignore the pixels. All un-similar pixels are identified and ignored which produces the similarity of two independent images. The results are produced from the images with objects and gray levels. It produces the expected results from our process.
Recently, with the advances in sensor techniques and net work computing, Ubiquitous Sensor Network (USN) has been received a lot of attentions from various communities. The sensor nodes distributed in the sensor network tend to continuously generate a large amount of data, which is called stream data. Sensor stream data arrives in an online manner so that it is characterized as high-speed, real-time and unbounded and it requires fast data processing to get the up-to-date results. The data stream has many application domains such as traffic analysis, physical distribution, U-healthcare and so on. Therefore, there is an overwhelming need of a USN middleware for processing such online stream data to provide corresponding services to diverse applications. In this paper, we propose a novel USN middleware which can provide users both context-aware service and meaningful sequential patterns. Our proposed USN middleware is mainly focused on location based applications which use stream location data. We also show the implementation of our proposed USN middleware. By using the proposed USN middleware, we can save the developing cost of providing context aware services and stream sequential patterns mainly in location based applications.
