  • The triglycerides of walnut oil were fractionated by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) on the basis of partition number (PN). Each triglyceride was finally fractionated on the basis of aryl carbon numbers (CN) by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). The fatty acids of triglyceride for each PN group were analyzed by GLC. Also, the fatty acid at ${\beta}-position$ of glycerol in each PN fraction separated by HPLC was determined by enzymatic hydrolysis with pancreatic lipase. The major triglyceride molecular species of walnut oil were $C_{18:2}{\cdot}C_{18:2}{\cdot}C_{18:1}$(LLO; 10.9%), $C_{18:3}{\cdot}C_{18:2}{\cdot}C_{18:2}$(LnLL; 17.6%) and $C_{18:2}{\cdot}C_{18:2}{\cdot}C_{18:2}$(LLL; 37.3%). The triglyceride molecular species occupied by unsaturated fatty acid at ${\beta}-position$ were more than 90%.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of active abduction exercise of the great toe on the medial and lateral sesamoid bones in hallux valgus (HV) patients by measuring radiography. Methods: In this study 27 young subjects were separated into two groups (normal group and HV group). Two pictures were taken by radiography while maintaining resting and while holding maximal active abduction of the great toe in sitting position on an x-ray table. All radiographs were used to measure the distance of the medial and lateral sesamoid bone from the longitudinal axis of the first metatarsal bone, respectively. Paired t-test was used for analysis of the resting and active abduction exercise in groups. Independent t-test was used to evaluate statistical significance between normal group and HV group. The statistical significance level was p<0.05. Results: In active abduction exercise of the normal group, distance of the medial and lateral sesamoid bones was not significantly different compared to resting condition. In active abduction exercise of the HV group, change of distance of the medial and lateral sesamoid bones showed statistically significant difference compared to resting condition. The distance between the medial sesamoid bone showed a more significant decrease in the HV vs. normal group, while the distance between the lateral sesamoid bone was significantly greater in the HV vs. normal group. Conclusion: These findings suggest that active abduction exercises, to reduce or prevent deterioration of the HV angle, should be considered for sesamoid bone displacement to improve muscle balance in the great toe.

  • Leaf anatomical study of Pinus thunbergii collected from 12 different coastal regions of Korea was conducted to understand the adaptive variation on leaf traits. Basic anatomical features are typical pine needle type with fibrous epidermis, 2-3 layered hypodermis, sunken stomata, monomorphic mesophyll, and well-represented bundle sheath. The bundle sheath surrounds a couple of vascular bundle separated by parenchyma bands. On the basis of their position, the resin ducts are of three types; external, medial and internal of the bundle sheath. The total number of resin ducts in all samples varies from 4 to 12. The stomata were found on stomatal bands throughout the leaf surface. Important dissimilarities observed on P. thunburgii leaf are the number and position of resin ducts and the number of stomata rows in leaf surface.

  • In this paper, bitstreams are composed of using H.263 for a moving picture coding in the band-limited and error-prone environment such as wireless environment. EREC sub-frames are implemented by applying the proposed EREC algorithm in order to be UEP for the real data parts of implemented bitstreams. Because those are able to do resynchronization with a block unit, propagation of the error can be minimized, and the position of the important bits such as INTRADC and MVD can be known. Class is separated using the position of these important bits, and variable puncturing tables are designed by the class informations and the code rates of turbo codes are differently designed in according to the class. Channel coding used the turbo codes, and an interleaver to be designed in the turbo codes does not eliminate redundancy bits of the important bits in applying variable code rates of EREC sub-frames unit and is always the same at the transmitter and the receiver although being variable frame size. As a result of simulation, UEP with the code rate similar to EEP is obtained a improved result in the side of bit error probability. And the result of applying it to image knows that the subjective and objective quality have been improved by the protection of important bits.

  • Due to the limitations of the existing indoor positioning system depending on the radio wave, at present, it is required to introduce a new method in order to improve the accuracy in indoor environment. Recently, bio-inspired technology has become the future core technology. Thus, this study examined the accurate positioning method applying the abilities that animals with homing instinct measure their position by searching geomagnetic field with the use of their biomagnets. In order to confirm the applicability of geomagnetic field, a new source for indoor positioning, this study separated the constituent materials and building structure and designed the structures that can carry the actual magnetic field sensor and the data collection module. Subsequently, this study investigated the applicability of geomagnetic field as a positioning source by establishing the positioning system of Fingerprint method. In performance evaluation of the positioning system, the geomagnetic strength-based positioning system was similar to or approximately 20 percent higher than the wireless LAN-based positioning system in the buildings with the existing wireless LAN. Thus, in the environment without infrastructure for indoor positioning, the geomagnetic, an independent earth resource, can make it possible to realize the indoor positioning.

  • In this study, the SIP (Soil-cement Injected precast Pile) method among the Low-vibration & Low-noise pile driving methods was decided into study compensation. Ground vibrations by the SIP methods step by step divide and were analyzed. Quantitative response values and ground vibration equations with reliability were presented from findings of this study. Also, vibration responses that are occurred by the SIP method of construction were compared as quantitative with vibration responses by general method of construction that are presented in existent study. Ground vibration values by the SIP method correspond to level of 17 ~ 57% of values that are assumed by the Attewell & Famer's equation, respectively, and these result compares in reliability 50% and separated distance 10 ~ 50 m. Also, those values were analyzed that correspond to level of 14 ~ 96% of ground vibration values by the Prof. Park's equation, respectively. Construction limit extents, separation distances from vibration occurs position, were presented that can satisfy domestic criteria for vibration control for the SIP methods. Those presented in this paper were divided newly according to reliability.

  • There has been a lot of research into a background separation method, which is a preprocess of a technique of automatically perceiving an invader, and the removal of shadows around a moving object in the video monitoring field. When a moving object is not clearly separated from its shadow, it is difficult to analyze the shape accurately, and it is also hard to trace its position. This study suggests how to utilize a brightness value for removing a shadow. It came from the fact that there appears to be no change of color in the shadow area relative to the background area, and there only occurs a difference in brightness. In addition, this method uses the renewal of a critical value used for the removal of shadow in the previous frame, in the next frame.

  • We describe a method for detecting slope instability in flume tests using pore pressure and water content data in conjunction with a statistical control chart analysis. Specifically, we conducted univariate statistical analysis on x-MR control chart data (pore pressure and water content) collected at several points along the flume slope, which we separated into three parts: upper, middle, and lower. To assess our results in the context of landslide forecasting and warning systems, we applied control limit lines at $1{\sigma}$, $2{\sigma}$, and $3{\sigma}$ levels of uncertainty. In doing so, we observed that dispersion time varies depending on the control limit line used. Moreover, the detection of instabilities is highly dependent on the position and type of sensor. Our findings indicate that different characteristics of the data on various factors predict slope failure differently and these characteristics can be identified by univariate statistical analysis. Therefore, we suggest that a univariate statistical approach is an effective method for the early detection of slope instability.
