Method: Data were collected from 817 adolescents in schools located in Seoul, Kyungki-do, and Chuncheon from Sept, 16th to Sept, 28th, 1999, and from Mar 10th to Mar 25th, 2000. The instruments used for this study were the Health Self-Rating Scale, Self-Care Agency Assessment Questionnaire (Denyes, 1981), the Self-Esteem Questionnaire (Rosenberg, 1971). Result: 1) The mean perceived health status among Korean adolescents was 8.75 (SD=1.72) 2) The mean self-esteem was 27.27 (SD=4.64). 3) The mean self-care agency was 99.64 (SD=21.02) and the average self-care agency score was 3.99 (SD=0.84). In the subcategories, the highest degree was feelings towards health (4.15), followed by ego strength (4.06), attending to health (3.87), general health knowledge (3.56), and the lowest degree was specific health knowledge (3.20) 4) There was statistical significant differences between demographic factors and self-care agencies, expecially, gender (t=28.65), grade (F=3.79), pocket money (t=5.72), and height (F=9.82) 5) The statistical relationship between perceived health status, self-esteem, and self-care agencies were found to have a positive correlation. 6) Self-care agencies among adolescents was the highest factor predicting self-esteem (15%). Conclusion: The relationship between perceived health status, self-esteem, and self-care agencies revealed a significant positive correlation among adolescents. Therefore, nursing intervention for adolescents needs to develop self-esteem programs to increase self-care agencies

  • The purpose of this study was to explore how consumer traits(technology anxiety and need for interaction) explain attitude toward self-service technologies in fashion retail stores. We examined if technology anxiety influences perceived productivity and attitude toward self-service technologies, and if so, how the need for interaction with employees moderates the impact of technology anxiety on perceived productivity and attitude. For the purpose of the study, a web-based survey with Korean consumers was conducted. The final sample size was 214. Structural Equation Modeling Analysis and PROCESS in SPSS were employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The findings indicated that technology anxiety negatively affected perceived productivity and attitude toward self-service technologies in which perceived productivity affected attitude positively. Need for interaction with employees was found to moderate the relationship between technology anxiety and perceived productivity. It also moderated the relationship between technology anxiety and attitude. This study contributes to the self-service technology literature by identifying two antecedents of consumer attitude toward self-service technologies: technology anxiety and the need for interaction. The findings further provide valuable insights to retailers and marketers as to how technology anxiety, perceived productivity, and the need for interaction work in enhancing consumer attitude toward self-service technologies in the context of fashion retail.

  • This study establishes a conceptual model that can clarify the causal relationship between self-efficacy, expected value and perceived risk, and trust for hydrogen Electric vehicles, which are expected to play an important role in activating hydrogen electric vehicles, and verify this through empirical research. As a specific research goal, first, the concepts of self-efficacy, perceived value, perceived risk, and trust were defined conceptually and operationally, centering on prior research. Second, a research model was presented and verified through an empirical analysis in order to confirm the influence relationship between the self-efficacy, perceived value, perceived risk, and trust derived through prior research. As a result of the study, it was found that self-efficacy had a significant effect on perceived value and trust. Also, perceived value and perceived risk were found to have a significant effect on perceived trust.

  • Valid evaluation of self-perceived health status is important for the promotion of individual health and quality of life, In advanced countries, many types of health profile have been developed, and currently, the SF-36, NHP, and EuroQol, etc, are widely used. However, the outcomes of these profiles may vary according to regional, cultural or emotional backgrounds. For these reasons a Korean Health Profile should be developed. In this study, we reviewed the concept of self-perceived health status, and its significance to public health, and reviewed some of the differences between the available profiles in 139 related publications. Based on this review, we are trying to develop a Korean Health Profile in order to measure the self-perceived health stati of Koreans.

  • The relations of parental differential treatment perceived by children to their self-esteem were examined. The subjects were 299 fifth-and sixth-grade elementary school children (162 boys and 137 girls) in Seoul. The data were collected using two kinds of questionnaires on maternal and paternal differential treatment and a child’s self-esteem. The major findings are as follows: Firstborns received more differential maternal affection than secondborns, and both boys and firstborns received more differential maternal control than girls and secondborns. Differential paternal control varied as a function of a child’s sex and birth order, in which boys and firstborns received more differential paternal control than girls and secondborns, but differential paternal affection did not vary. Maternal differential treatments were related to self-esteem only in girls, indicating that the more differential maternal affection they perceived, the higher self-esteem they had, and the more differential maternal control they perceived, the lower self-esteem they had. Paternal differential treatments were not related to self-esteem both for boys and girls. The study emphasizes the crucial role of mothers on their daughters.

  • This study defined the notion of general idea on m-learning as based upon e-Learning and mobile internet related literature review and identified the m-Learning distinctive features. Also, this study has searched for factors that are expected to influence the use intended for m-Learning from self-regulated learning, which is acknowledged to be a useful method for learning accomplishment in education field, in order to measure the relationship between learners' motivation and use intention. Then it has empirically validated the conceptual model based on Davis' TAM (Technology Acceptance Model) As a result, self-efficacy, self-determination, interest, contents quality, time management, help seeking, and Peer study are factors affecting Perceived usefulness. Also self-efficacy, self-determination, interest, contents qualify, time management, and peer study are factors affecting perceived ease of use. Finally both perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use are significant factors affecting use intention.
