A 4K-Capable Hardware Accelerator of Haze Removal Algorithm using Haze-relevant Features

  • The performance of vision-based intelligent systems, such as self-driving cars and unmanned aerial vehicles, is subject to weather conditions, notably the frequently encountered haze or fog. As a result, studies on haze removal have garnered increasing interest from academia and industry. This paper hereby presents a 4K-capable hardware implementation of an efficient haze removal algorithm with the following two improvements. First, the depth-dependent haze distribution is predicted using a linear model of four haze-relevant features, where the model parameters are obtained through maximum likelihood estimates. Second, the approximated quad-decomposition method is adopted to estimate the atmospheric light. Extensive experimental results then follow to verify the efficacy of the proposed algorithm against well-known benchmark methods. For real-time processing, this paper also presents a pipelined architecture comprised of customized macros, such as split multipliers, parallel dividers, and serial dividers. The implementation results demonstrated that the proposed hardware design can handle DCI 4K videos at 30.8 frames per second.

상대 순위가 진로 결정에 미치는 영향 (Impact of Ordinal Rank on Career Choice)

  • 본 연구는 동료(peer)에 대비한 학생의 상대적인 학업성취가 진로 결정에 어떠한 영향을 주는지를 살펴본다. 구체적으로 학교 내에서 학생들의 상대적인 수학 순위가 이과 선택에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석을 위해 서울시 소재 학생들의 패널데이터를 이용하였으며, 수학 성적을 통제하더라도 상대 순위가 낮은 경우 이과에 진학할 확률이 11%포인트 이상 감소함을 확인하였다. 높은 상대 순위는 여학생에게 추가적인 양의 이과 진학 효과를 나타내 상대 순위가 성별로 다르게 작용함을 보였다. 분석 결과에 따르면 상대 순위효과 중 약 12%만이 자신감과 같은 주관적 평가에 의해 설명되며, 이로 미루어보아 내신 성적을 통한 경로가 더 지배적일 것으로 추측할 수 있다.

  • Purpose - Currently, strengthening small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) in terms of competitiveness is a key economic issue. However, the problem is that many SMEs lack the internal competence required to cope with a rapidly changing market structure. Such problems can act as an obstacle to economic development, yet most SMEs in Korea are dealing with this problem today. A company's source of competitive advantage is changing from quantity to quality, facility to knowledge, and hardwork to creativity. Under such circumstances, a company should place learning and sharing of knowledge and continuously creating new knowledge as its priority. This study aims to identify the effect of a chief executive officer's (CEO) compassion and forgiveness - positive factors in organizational emotion - on learning organization activities and organizational performance, through a theoretical comparison. Research design, data, and methodology - For this study, SMEs based in Daejeon and Chungcheong area were selected. To secure credibility of the data, the subjects were selected among those who have been working at the business for six months or longer. The survey was conducted for 30 days from March 5, 2015 to April 5, 2015. Both offline and online surveys were conducted. Fifty companies were chosen and 700 questionnaires were distributed, with 506 used for analysis. Fifty subject companies (25 from Daejeon, 10 from Chungnam, 10 from Chungbuk, and five from Sejong) were selected and the objective, target, and survey content were explained to a manager at each company either face-to-face or on the phone. Of the total of 700 questionnaires distributed via mail or e-mail, 78.6% or 550 copies were returned. Excluding 44 insufficient questionnaires, the remainder, 506 questionnaires, were used for analysis. Results - This study analyzed how the CEO's compassion and forgiveness affects learning organization activities and organizational performance. First, compassion of the CEO at the SMEs directly affected the learning organization activities and indirectly affected the organizational performance. Second, forgiveness of the CEO at the SMEs did not affect the learning organization activities and organizational performance directly or indirectly. Conclusions - The study conclusions are as follows. First, CEO compassionate behavior at the SMEs was a significant variable that directly and indirectly affected learning organization activities and organizational performance. Therefore, the CEO of an SME can create a positive organizational atmosphere through compassionate behaviors in the organization. Second, the forgiving behavior of the CEO did not have direct or indirect effects on learning organization activities and organizational performance. However, the reason for a CEO to continue his or her forgiving behavior is because it strengthens employee resilience, commitment, and self-efficacy to protect the organization from negative influences such as layoffs, risks, and wrongdoings. The action of forgiveness does not have direct or indirect effects. However, the CEO shall continue such behavior to strengthen members' physiological resilience, commitment, and self - effectiveness, and to protect the organization from risks including layoff and external negative factors.

보건소에서 실시한 당뇨병 환자 방문간호 프로그램의 효과 (Effects of Home Visiting Care Program for Patients with Diabetes Mellitus Provided by Public Health Center)

  • Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the effects of home visiting care program provided by public health center in control of blood sugar for patients with diabetes mellitus who were cared for at home. Method: The subjects were 50 randomly selected diabetics registered at S-Gu Public Health Center. The program comprised in-person education and home visitations; and telephone contact to educate, monitor diet, exercise, blood sugar, and provide consultation. The control group was provided home visitation by only home calls nurses. The program ran from July 7. 2008 to September 12. 2008. Result: After the program, glycated hemoglobin was decreased in the experimental and control groups; the difference in those receiving home care was not statistically significant. Changes on blood cholesterol in experimental group and control groups were not statistically different. Self-efficacy and self-care performance were increased in those receiving home care. Conclusion: While not statistically significant in this small-scale study, home care for diabetes mellitus patients may promote an increased patient responsibility for self-care that is important in their long-term health.

Displacement-based design approach for highway bridges with SMA isolators

  • As a practical and effective seismic resisting technology, the base isolation system has seen extensive applications in buildings and bridges. However, a few problems associated with conventional lead-rubber bearings have been identified after historical strong earthquakes, e.g., excessive permanent deformations of bearings and potential unseating of bridge decks. Recently the applications of shape memory alloys (SMA) have received growing interest in the area of seismic response mitigation. As a result, a variety of SMA-based base isolators have been developed. These novel isolators often lead to minimal permanent deformations due to the self-centering feature of SMA materials. However, a rational design approach is still missing because of the fact that conventional design method cannot be directly applied to these novel devices. In light of this limitation, a displacement-based design approach for highway bridges with SMA isolators is proposed in this paper. Nonlinear response spectra, derived from typical hysteretic models for SMA, are employed in the design procedure. SMA isolators and bridge piers are designed according to the prescribed performance objectives. A prototype reinforced concrete (RC) highway bridge is designed using the proposed design approach. Nonlinear dynamic analyses for different seismic intensity levels are carried out using a computer program called "OpenSees". The efficacy of the displacement-based design approach is validated by numerical simulations. Results indicate that a properly designed RC highway bridge with novel SMA isolators may achieve minor damage and minimal residual deformations under frequent and rare earthquakes. Nonlinear static analysis is also carried out to investigate the failure mechanism and the self-centering ability of the designed highway bridge.

전공의 의료커뮤니케이션 능력과 진료수행 자기효능감, 공감능력과의 상관관계 (Associations of Communication Skills, Self-Efficacy on Clinical Performance and Empathy in Trainee Doctors)

  • 연구목적 전공의 공통역량으로서 의료커뮤니케이션의 중요성을 환기시키기 위하여 전공의를 대상으로 의료커뮤니케이션 능력을 조사하고 의료커뮤니케이션 능력, 진료수행 자기효능감 그리고 공감능력의 관련성을 분석하고자 하였다. 방 법 일 대학병원 소속 총 106명 전공의를 대상으로 자기평가 의료커뮤니케이션 능력, 수정된 진료수행 자기효능감 척도, 한국판 의사 공감 척도를 조사하였다. 성별, 나이, 전공과목(인턴, 내과계, 외과계), 연차(인턴, 1~2년차, 3~4년차)에 따른 의료커뮤니케이션 능력의 차이를 조사하였다. 상관분석으로 의료커뮤니케이션 능력, 수정된 진료수행 자기효능감, 공감능력의 상관계수를 구하였고 구조방정식 모형을 이용하여 의료커뮤니케이션 능력에 영향을 미치는 각 변수의 효과를 검증하였다. 결 과 인턴 31명(31.6%), 내과계 레지던트 45명(45.9%), 외과계 레지던트 22명(22.4%)으로 총 98명이 참가하였다. 성별, 나이, 전공과목, 연차에 따른 자기평가 의료커뮤니케이션 능력 점수는 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 없었다. 의료커뮤니케이션 능력은 수정된 진료수행 자기효능감(r=0.782, p<0.001) 및 공감능력(r=0.210, p=0.038)과 유의한 정적 상관관계가 있었다. 공감능력은 진료수행 자기효능감에 직접적으로 유의한 영향을 미쳤으며(β=0.30, p<0.01), 진료수행 자기효능감은 의료커뮤니케이션 능력에 직접적으로 유의한 영향을 보였다(β=0.80, p<0.001). 공감능력은 진료수행 자기효능감을 매개하여(β=0.26, p<0.05) 간접적으로 의료커뮤니케이션 능력에 영향을 미치고 있었다. 결 론 전공의 의료커뮤니케이션 능력은 성공적 진료를 위해 필요한 진료수행 자기효능감과 직접적 연관성이 있었으므로 전공의 공통교육과정의 하나로서 중요한 위치를 차치한다고 할 수 있다. 그리고 현재의 의료커뮤니케이션 모델은 공감 능력과는 구별해서 이해될 필요가 있음이 시사된다.

관광가이드의 긍정심리자본 요인이 직무만족 및 조직몰입에 미치는 영향에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Impact Positive Psychological Capital of Tour Guides on Job Satisfaction and Organizational Commitment )

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to identify the influence relationship between positive psychological capital, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of tourism guides, and to provide implications through empirical research to increase the capabilities of tourism guides that are a factor in the performance of planned travel products Design/methodology/approach - This study conducted an empirical survey using the google online questionnaire. It was directly surveyed, distributed, and collected from workers who were or were performing tourism guide duties in Asia and Europe, and 203 questionnaires were used for analysis. The empirical survey was conducted in a self-written manner through a simple random sampling method, and the statistical package was conducted with frequency analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and correlation analysis using the spss 21.0 program. Findings - First, among the positive psychological capital factors, two factors, hope and optimism, have a significant positive (+) effect on job satisfaction. Second, among the positive psychological capital factors, two factors, self-efficacy and optimism, have a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment. Third, job satisfaction has a significant positive (+) effect on organizational commitment Research implications or Originality - The implications of this study are that the research results have had a positive (+) effect on the variables of positive psychological capital, job satisfaction, and organizational commitment of tourism guides, and have laid the foundation for academic research on research topics. In practice, it is expected to increase the positive psychological capital of tourism guides and have a significant impact on the organization's performance by actively supporting and supporting individuals related to the sustainable growth of travel products.

심리적 자본이 이직의도에 미치는 영향과 조직몰입의 매개효과에 대한 연구 : 건설업 종사자를 중심으로 (A Study on Effect of Psychological Capital on Turnover Intention & Mediating Effect of Organizational Commitment: Focusing on Construction Industry Workers)

  • 본 연구는 건설업체 종사자들을 대상으로 심리적자본과 조직몰입 그리고 이직의도와의 관계를 실증적으로 검증하고자 하며 이직의도를 낮추거나 완화시키기 위한 방안을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 주어진 환경에서 조직 구성원들의 태도나 행동이 어떠한 영향을 주는지 확인하기 위해 심리적 자본을 희망, 복원력(탄력성), 자기효능감, 낙관성의 4개 요인으로 구분하였다. 이를 위해 수도권 지역의 건설업 종사자를 대상으로 310부를 분석에 활용하였으며 심리적자본이 조직몰입과 이직의도에 영향을 미치는지, 조직몰입이 이직의도에 어떠한 영향이 있는지, 조직몰입이 심리적자본과 이직의도의 관계에서 매개효과를 나타내는지 검증하고자 하였다. 심리적자본과 이직의도의 관계를 분석한 결과, 희망과 자기효능감은 이직의도에 부(-)의 영향을 미치며, 복원력과 낙관성은 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 심리적자본과 조직몰입의 관계를 분석한 결과, 희망, 복원력, 낙관성은 조직몰입에 정(+)의 영향을 미치며, 자기효능감은 유의한 영향을 미치지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 조직몰입 매개효과를 검증한 결과, 심리적 자본의 하위요인 중 희망과의 관계에서 이직의도에 유의한 매개효과를 나타내는 것으로 확인되었다. 기존 선행연구들은 건설업 종사자들의 이직의도에 대한 외부적인 측면을 주로 고려하였다면, 연구를 통해 심리적인 측면에 접근하여 조직몰입을 더 높이고, 이직의도를 완화시키고자 했다는 점에서 학문적 시사점이 있다. 실무적 시사점으로는 건설업 종사자들의 심리적 요인 중 자기효능감과 조직에서의 직무에 대한 희망이 높을수록 심리적 안정 속에서 직무를 이행하기 때문에 이직의도가 낮아진다는 것을 확인하였다. 따라서, 자기효능감과 희망을 향상 시킬 수 있도록 직무 자율성 부여, 유연한 근무 등과 같은 다양한 제도 정비가 마련되어야 할 필요가 있다.

Evaluation of a Smart After-Care Program for Patients with Lung Cancer: A Prospective, Single-Arm Pilot Study

  • Background: The efficacy of telemedicine among cancer survivors is uncertain. The Smart After-Care Program (SAP), which is an interactive, smartphone-based remote health monitoring system, was developed to help patients manage their health after leaving the hospital. This study was designed to evaluate the efficacy of our remote health care program for lung cancer patients. Methods: We enrolled 50 patients with lung cancer. Self-monitoring devices were supplied to all patients, who were instructed to enter their daily vital signs and subjective symptoms to the Smart After-Care app. The app also provided information about rehabilitation exercises and a healthy diet for lung cancer patients. All patients received health counseling via telephone once a week and visited an outpatient clinic during weeks 6 and 12 to assess satisfaction with the SAP and changes in quality of life and physical performance. Results: Overall satisfaction with the SAP was very high (very good, 61.9%; good, 26.2%). In the multivariate analysis to identify factors affecting satisfaction, the distance between the patient's residence and the hospital was the only significant independent factor (p=0.013). Quality of life improved along all functional scales (p<0.05). Muscle strength significantly improved in the lower limbs (p=0.012). Two-minute walk distance also significantly improved (p=0.028). Conclusion: This study demonstrated that the SAP was acceptable for and supportive of patients with reduced pulmonary function after lung cancer treatment. The SAP was found to be particularly useful for patients living far from the hospital.

창업기업 QFD 교육 훈련 학습자 특성이 학습 전이의도에 미치는 조절 효과에 관한 연구 (Moderating Effects of 3 years over Startup QFD Training Participants' Characteristics on Transfer Intension)

  • 본 연구는 대기업, 중견기업에서 주로 사용되어온 QFD (Quality Function Deployment)를 창업기업에 접목하여 초기성장기의 창업 기업들의 성장 도태, 매출 정체에 대한 해결 방안으로 QFD 교육 훈련 프로그램에 참여하였던 창업 벤처기업들을 그 연구 대상으로 하였다. QFD 교육 훈련과정에서 임직원들이 배웠던 내용을 현업에 실제로 접목하고자 하였는지 즉 교육 훈련 성과가 있는지에 관하여 연구하는 과정에서 학습전이 의도 영향 요인과 그 경로 구조에 학습자의 개인적 특성이 조절 기능을 하는 지에 대해 실증적으로 규명하고자 하였다. 실증분석의 결과는 학습자준비상태와 훈련내용의 타당성인지가 자기 효능감을 통해 학습전이의도에 영향을 미치는 관계에서 학습자의 인구통계학적 특성의 조절효과는 성별이 부분 조절효과, 직급이 조절효과가 있는 것으로 나타났고, 연령과 학력수준, 창업경력은 통계적으로 유의한 결과가 나타나지 않았다. 본 연구의 시사점은 현실에 접목하기 쉽게 실천중심으로 설계된 훈련 프로그램을 진행할 때 프로그램 결과가 그 기업에 직접적으로 성과를 달성하도록 하기 위해서는 창업기업의 의사결정에 큰 영향력을 미치는 대표이사가 참석하도록 의무화하는 것이 훈련 프로그램의 성과를 높이는데 큰 효과가 있다는 것을 실증적으로 규명한 것이다. 이를 통해 창업기업대상 교육 훈련 프로그램을 진행하는 집행 기관의 교육 기획 단계에서 정책적 시사점을 제공하는 것을 목적으로 하였다.
