This study examined the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety among male and female college students. This study included 441 college students (211 male and 230 female students) with an average age of 22.2. Pearson correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis were conducted. As a result, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness on the relationship between self-criticism and social anxiety was significant for male students. A higher level of self-criticism tended to result in a higher level of social anxiety that was strengthened in the group of lower level of self-forgiveness versus a tendency for self-criticism to increase male social anxiety was weaker in the group with a higher level of self-forgiveness. However, the moderating effect of self-forgiveness was not significant in female students and only the main effect of self-criticism on social anxiety was significant. The results provide a basis to understand the psychological processes of social anxiety in college students. The results suggest the necessity to intervene and strengthen self-forgiveness as a protective factor to alleviate the negative effects of self-blame on social anxiety in male college students.
The Purpose of the study was to analysis high school girl's clothing behavior according to self-criticism and self-satisfaction for a synthetic understanding of the relationship between self-concept and clothing behavior. The study also intended to provide useful data and information for effective counseling activities in high schools. Normative-descriptive survery method was employed to implement the present study. Won-Shik Jung's standardized self-concept test was used for the measurement of Self Criticism and Self Satisfaction. A questionnaire was used to measure clothing behavior. The subjects were 436 2nd year high school girls at three girl's high schools located in Pocheun, Kyunggi-do and at three girl's high schools located in Dobong-ku and Gangnam-ku, Seoul. The results of the study are as follows: (1) The present high School girls have the sound ability to criticize themselves positively, and they are generally satisfied with themselves. (2) Self criticism affects clothing behavior except practicability and has a bigger influence on the group having the lower score of individuality, fashionability, aesthetics, satisfaction and psychological clothing-dependence than on the group having the higher score of them. The group having the high self criticism score has high individuality, aesthetics, and satisfaction in clothing behavior. Compared with group having low self satisfaction, the group having high self satisfaction has the lower psychological clothing-dependence. (4) Those who are responsible for student guidance program need to keep in mind that one's self-criticism and self-satisfaction level, which are quite difficult to grasp, can be assumed by the observation of characteristics of clothing behavior.

This study examined whether parental psychological control influences adolescents' depressive feelings through personality features of dependency and self-criticism. Participants were 315 high school students (M=16 years) who completed questionnaires tapping two types of parental psychological control and student personality and depressive symptoms. Both girls and boys perceived equal levels of maternal and paternal separation-anxious psychological control. Boys perceived higher achievement- oriented psychological control of fathers than mothers; girls perceived equal levels of maternal and paternal achievement-oriented control. Structural relations between types of psychological control, personality features, and depressive symptoms were equivalent for both mothers and fathers and for both boys and girls. Results confirmed that separation-anxious and achievement-oriented control have negative effects on adolescents' adjustment through differential pathways; dependency and self-criticism, respectively.

Purpose: This study was undertaken in order to suggest self-leadership as a way to promote organization efficiency of nursing organization. So the relation between self-leadership and outcome of nursing practice in organization was studied. Method: The subjects of study were nurses as a population who were working for the 2 of university hospitals which have over 500 beds in Kyong Ki Province as well as who have been working for over 6 months. The data was collected by questionnaires from 215 nurses and analyzed using descriptive statistics, perason correlation coefficient, t-test and ANOVA on SAS Program. Results: Self-leadership of nurse got 3.51 grade out of 5 as a mean point. Each of the segments got 3.74 in self-compensation, 3.57 in self-expectation, 3.53 in goal-setting, 3.45 in rehearsal, 3.37 in self-criticism and 3.30 in constructive thinking in order. Independent performance of nursing practice at each items of outcome of nursing practice showed the highest correlations with the self-expectation among self-leadership segments. Constructive thinking, self-compensation, rehearsal, goal-setting were related like this in order, but self-criticism was related just a little. Dependent nursing practice has the highest correlation with the self-expectation, goal-setting, rehearsal, constructive thinking, self-compensation were similar as aboves in order, but self-criticism didn't show any similar correlations. Relationship practice has the highest correlation with the self-expectation, and goal-setting, constructive thinking, self-compensation, rehearsal were similar, while self-criticism did not show any correlations. Conclusion: In conclusion the result was obtained that self-leadership is much correlated with outcome of nursing practice. Therefore, as a way to promote efficiency of nursing organization, the constant study about self-leadership with the various aspects is needed focusing on self-management and inner motivation as a new leadership paradigm.
The purposes of this study were to identify 1) the effect of physical growth on body criticism from others and body image,2) the effect of body criticism from others on sociocultural attitude toward appearance, body image, and self-esteem, 3)the effect of sociocultural attitude toward appearance on body image, 4)the effect of body image on self=esteem and clothing attitude, and 5) the effect of self-esteem on clothing altitude on Korean female teenagers. The data were collected from 436 high school girls living in Seoul, Korea, via self-administered questionnaires, and were analyzed by factor analysis and LISREL models. The result of this study were as follows: 1) Among three measurement variables of physical growth, the height had a negative effect on body criticism from others. Sexual maturation positively influenced the affective aspect of body image. 2) Body criticism from others had a positive effect on the sociocultural attitude toward appearance and a negative effect on the affective aspect of body image. 3) The sociocultural altitude toward appearance had a negative effect on the affective aspect of body image and a positive effect on the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image.4) The affective aspect of body image had a positive effect on the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image, self-esteem, and clothing attitude. However, the cognitive/behavioral aspect of body image had a positive effect on clothing attitude.5) Self-esteem had no significant effect on clothing attitude.
The study examined the influence of socially-prescribed perfectionism (SPP) on depression and social anxiety, and further investigated the mediating effects of self-focused attention and self-criticism. The questionnaires designed to measure multidimensional perfectionism, social anxiety, depression, self-focused attention, self-criticism scale for adolescents were administered twice at an interval of three weeks to 273 students (83 men, 190 women) enrolled at high schools in Gyeonggi-do Province. The findings for the present study were as follows. First, SPP, depression, social anxiety, self-focused attention, and self-criticism showed all positive correlations. Second, the mediation effect from the SPP to depression via self-focused attention was statistically significant, whereas the indirect effect from the SPP to depression via self-criticism was not. Third, the pattern in depression was the same in social anxiety. The results provide indirect support for the social anxiety cognitive model (Clark & Wells) with regards to social anxiety particularly in Korean high school students. Finally, the implications and limitations of this study and suggestions for future research were discussed.

The purpose of this study was to explore the direct and indirect effects of premarital adult child's perceived self-differentiation and parent-child dynamics of emotional system on trait anxiety. The subjects of the study numbered 277, and correlation and path analysis was used with SPSS 10.0. The major findings were as follows: 1. It was shown that self-differentiation, over involvement and perceived criticism of premarital adult children were correlated with trait anxiety. And, among demographic variables, education, income, and marital status of the subjects' parents were related with trait anxiety. 2. Parent-child differentiation, over involvement, perceived criticism, and sex had direct effects on premarital adult child's self-differentiation. The variables that had direct effects on trait anxiety, which was the final dependent variable were self-differentiation, parent-child differentiation, perceived criticism, and income while over involvement an indirect effect on it.
Objectives: The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of social characteristics and self leadership on stress coping method in the dental hygiene students. Methods: A self-reported questionnaire was completed by 436 dental hygiene students in J area from November 10 to December 10, 2013. The questionnaire consisted ofsocial characteristics of the subjects, self leadership, and stress coping method. The reliability was evaluated by Cronbach alpha. Data were analyzed by frequency, one-way ANOVA, multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 12.0 statistical package program. The self leadership was developed by Mans and adapted and modified by Kim and Park. The leadership included 18 questions of self expectation, rehearsal, goal setting, self reward, self criticism, and constructive area. The stress coping method was developed by Folkman and Lazarus, and adapted and modified by Park. The stress coping method included 24 questions of problem focused coping, seeking social support, emotion focused coping, and wishful thinking. Results: The best stress coping method was wishful thinking and the score was 2.81. The priority order of stress coping method included social support, problem focused coping, and emotion focused coping. The self-expectation, goal setting, self-criticism proved to be highly relevant factors. The explanation power of stress coping method was 29.1 percent. The self expectation, rehearsal, self reward, and self criticism were passive coping methods and the explanation power was 15.4 percent. Conclusions: The self leadership is the most important factor to fulfill the interpersonal relationship abilities, major satisfaction, and satisfaction with clinical practice. The self leadership leads to stress coping ability.
Although acclaimed as George Eliot's masterpiece, Middlemarch: A Study of Provincial Life (1871-72) has been attacked by feminists since shortly after it was serialized. The main cause of feminist criticism is that she portrays her heroine, Dorothea Brooke, in an androcentric viewpoint and describes her lived experiences through male discourses. In order to identify what such feminist criticism originates in, this article places the novel in the sociopolitical contexts where Dorothea lived while authoring herself, and then analyzes it with M. M. Bakhtin's two important concepts, self-authoring and architectonics. As a result, Middlemarch has many shortcomings in the phases of the heroine's self-authoring and eventually the architectonics. In case of self-authoring, Eliot does not fully explain Dorothea's responses to her first husband and egoistic priest Edward Casaubon, and then her second husband and English-Polish dilettante Will Ladislaw until she reaches her ultimate marriage conclusions. Incessant authorial intervention obstructs the heroine's smooth interactions with her two husbands. In addition, the novel does not provide any sufficient comments about Dorothea's responses to Middlemarchers' opinions even if handling their opinions in the heroine's self-authoring influences the novel's persuasiveness. Dorothea's story has proved its own limitations by its frequent omissions and authorial intrusions. In Bakhtin's terminology, Middlemarch does not properly contain I-formyself, the-other-for-me, and I-for-the-other. It can be said that these shortcomings resulting from Eliot's cross-dressing narrative have caused attacks by feminists.
