Behavior of Nano-patterns with PS-b-PMMA Block Copolymer by Substrates and Process Conditions (기판 및 공정조건에 따른 PS-b-PMMA 블락 공중합체의 나노패턴 형상 거동)

  • 상변화 메모리 소자의 고집적화를 위한 새로운 패터닝 공정을 위하여 블락 공중합체의 자가 조립 특성을 적용한 고분자 패턴을 TiN기판 위에 적용화기 위한 연구를 진행하였다. 블락 공중합체의 자기 조립에 의한 패턴의 모양은 각 기판과 블락 공중합체간의 상호작용에 따라 sphere, cylinder, lamellar 형태의 모양을 띄게 된다. 표면처리가 안된 TiN기판 위의 PS-b-PMMA 블락 공중합체의 패턴의 형태는 cylinder와 lamellar 구조가 섞여 있는 구조로써 PS-r-PMMA 랜덤 공중합체로 기판 표면을 처리해 줄 경우 좀 더 균일한 cylinder 패턴 구조를 얻을 수 있었다. PS-r-PMMA로 기판 표면 처리 전 후의 상호 작용의 변화를 알아보기 위하여 물방울 접촉각 테스트를 하였으며 랜덤 공중합체와 블락 공중합체의 표면 처리 열처리 조건에 따른 패턴 행태의 변화를 관찰하기 위하여 모두 24,48,72시간으로 변화시켜 열처리 하였다. 최종 열처리 후 블락 공중합체의 패턴 형태의 주사 전자 현미경 관찰을 위하여 acetic acid에 60분 동안 침지시켜 PMMA를 제거 후 괄찰하였다.

Development of automatic die bonder system for semiconductor parts assembly (반도체 소자용 자동 die bonding system의 개발)

  • In this paper, the design and implementation of a multi-processor based die bonder machine for the semiconductor will be described. This is a final research results carried out for two years from June, 1986 to July, 1988. The mechanical system consists of three subsystems such as bonding head module, wafer feeding module, and lead frame feeding module. The overall control system consists of the following three subsystems each of which employs a 16 bit microprocessor MC 68000 : (i) supervisory control system, (ii) visual recognition / inspection system and (iii) the display system. Specifically, the supervisory control system supervises the whole sequence of die bonder machine, performs a self-diagnostics while it controls the bonding head module according to the prespecified bonding cycle. The vision system recognizes the die to inspect the die quality and deviation / orientation of a die with respect to a reference position, while it controls the wafer feeding module. Finally, the display system performs a character display, image display ans various error messages to communicate with operator. Lead frame feeding module is controlled by this subsystem. It is reported that the proposed control system were applied to an engineering sample and tested in real-time, and the results are sucessful as an engineering sample phase.

Visualization of Gene Transfer into Live Cells Using Fluorescent Semiconductor Nanocrystals

  • We have developed the method for the conjugation of biotinylated DNA to streptavidin-coated QDs. QD-DNA conjugates and a high-sensitive fluorescence imaging technique are adopted to visualize gene transport across the membrane of the live cell in real time. Endocytotic cellular uptake of oligonucleotide and electrically-mediated plasmid DNA transfer into the live cell are monitored by a quantitative microscopic imaging system. Long-term kinetic study enables us to reveal the unknown mechanisms and rate-limiting steps of extracellular and intracellular transport of biomolecules. We designed experimental protocols to conjugate the oligonucleotide or the plasmid DNA to commercially available streptavidin-coated QDs. Gel electrophoresis is used to verify the effect of incubation time and the molar ratio of QDs and DNA on the conjugation efficiency. It is possible to fractionate the QD-DNA conjugates according to the DNA concentration and obtain the purified conjugates by a gel extraction technique.

Bio-functionalized Gold Nanoparticles for Surface-Plasmon- Absorption-Based Protein Detection

  • Bio-functionalized gold nanoparticles (AuNPs), which bio-specifically interact with biotin-(strept)avidin, were investigated in this study. AuNPs were functionalized with a synthetically-provided biotin-linked thiol (BLT), which was synthesized by amidation of the active ester of biotin with 2-mercaptoethylamine. The BLT-attached AuNP was bio-specific for streptavidin, making it potentially useful for biosensor applications. To test the bio-specific interactions, the colors, absorption spectra and TEM images were investigated for proteins such as streptavidin, cytochrome C, myoglobin and hemoglobin. The colors and absorption spectra changed when streptavidin was added to the BLT-attached AuNP solution. However, the color and spectra did not change when the other proteins were added to the same solution. These results show that the AuNPs provided a colloidal solution with excellent stability and highly selective absorption characteristics for streptavidin as a target molecule. Proteins were also screened in order to identify a general strategy for the use of optical biosensing proteins based on AuNPs. In addition, TEM images confirmed that streptavidin led the BLT-attached AuNPs to aggregate or precipitate.

Nanohybridization of Polyoxometalate and Nanomaterials for Electrochemical Application (전기 화학 응용을 위한 폴리옥소메탈레이트와 나노물질의 나노하이브리드화)

  • Polyoxometalates (POMs) have outstanding properties and a great deal of potential for electrochemical applications. As POMs are highly soluble, the implementation of POMs in various functional materials is required to fully use their potential in electrochemical devices. Here, we will review the recently developed immobilization methods to incorporate POMs into conductive nanomaterials, such as nanocarbons and conducting polymers. Various immobilization strategies involve POMs entrapped in conducting polymer matrix and integration of POMs into nanocarbons using a Langmuir-Blodgett technique, a layer-by-layer self-assembly, and an electrochemical in-situ polymerization. In addition, we will review a variety of electrochemical applications including electrocatalysts for water oxidation, lithium-ion batteries, supercapacitors, and electrochemical biosensors.

A Study on the Architectural Document and Constructions of Gimlyong-sa(金龍寺) in 17~19th Century (17~19세기 김룡사의 불사(佛事) 관련 기록물 현황과 영건(營建)활동)

  • Gimlyong-sa temple has played an important role of Buddhist culture in Gyeongsangdo Provinces(嶺南地域) in the late Joseon Dynasty as the 31st head temple(本山) in the Japanese occupation. There are lots of architectural documentary records remained nevertheless, most of cultural heritages are destroyed by fire in 1997. There were 85 articles in five kinds of books which contained historical achievements of Gimlyong-sa temple and hermitages(Daeseongam(大成庵), Hwajangam(華藏庵), Yangjinam(養眞庵), Geum seondae(金仙臺), Dosoram(兜率庵), Myeongjeogam(明寂庵)). It is possible to understand the five situational peculiarities in the 17~19th century. At the first, they were compiled in 1914 to around 1930 by Kwon Sangro(權相老) to clarify the historical facts. Second, confirmed the formation process of the foundation narrative. Third, the meaning of Seolseondang(設禪堂), Manseru(萬歲樓) and Hyangnojeon(香爐殿) were recorded, it is possible to look at the concept of people at that time. Fourth, the great masters portraits were enshrined in hermitages, not in Gimlyong-sa temple. It means that a hermitage is not for only self-discipline or living but assembly of religious orders(門派). Fifth, Chimgye(枕溪), the great Buddhist clergy and carpenter of Gimlyong-sa, was nationwide active worker in 19th century because he was also in a charge of investment manager for construction.

  • Top-down processes based on photolithography technology have been developed by using light sources with short wavelength, however, the processes are expected to meet their limits in higher integration of semiconductor integrated circuits. To overcome the limits, researches on bottom-up processes have been proceeded. One of those, fabrication of nanodevices by using nanoparticles has been on research. But it is difficult to align nanoparticles at appropriate positions. To resolve this, studies has been proceeded to form nanowires by bonding DNA molecules which have self-assembly property and positive-charged functionalized gold nanoparticles. There are negative-charged phosphates in backbones of DNA molecules. By using the attractive force between the negative charge of the phosphates and the positive charge of gold nanoparticles, the Au-DNA nanowires are made. However, bonding Au nanoparticles only on DNA molecules, not other nanoparticles, is to be solved. So we studied to resolve this problem. In the formation of Au nanoparticles, we changed the charge of Au nanoparticles by adding HCl to control pH of the functionalized nanoparticles, measured zeta potential. Then we bonded the nanoparticles and DNA molecules and made observation by using FE-SEM and AFM.

  • 3-layer polysilicon 표면미세가공공정을 이용하여 micro zone plate 렌즈와 미러 및 이를 구동하기 위한 구동기를 일체화시킨 마이크로 구동형 광학소자를 설계, 제작하였다. 650nm의 파장대역에서 초점거리가 $500{\mu}m$가 되도록 마이크로 zone plate 렌즈를 설계하였으며, 렌즈의 광학축은 실리콘 기판 상에서 $121{\mu}m$거리에 위치하도록 제작하였다. 마이크로 hinge와 스프링 latch 및 측면지지 plate를 이용하여 마이크로 렌즈와 미러가 실리콘 기판상에서 out-of-plane동작이 가능하도록 하였다. 마이크로렌즈 초점거리의 가변을 위하여 6개의 SDA(Scratch Drive Actuator)어레이를 설계, 제작하였다. 또한 빔 반사를 위한 마이크로 미러를 설계하고 $45^{\circ}$ self-assembly를 위하여 마이크로 hinge와 SDA array를 제작하였다.

Detection of Pathogenic Salmonella Using a Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor (표면플라즈몬공명 바이오센서를 이용한 살모넬라 검출)

  • Rapid detection of foodborne pathogens has been a major challenge for the food industry. Salmonella contamination is well known in all foods including pasteurised milk. The possibility of specific detection of Salmonella Enteritidis by surface plasmon resonance (SPR) biosensor was explored using a commercially available portable SPR sensor. Self assembly technique was adopted to immobilize anti-Salmonella antibodies on the gold sensing surface of the SPR sensor. The concentration of polyclonal antibody for use in the SPR biosensor was chosen to 1.0 mg/mL. Experiments were conducted at near real-time with results obtained for one SPR biosensor assay within 1 hour. The limit of detection for Salmonella Enteritidis was determined to be $10^6$ CFU/mL in both PBS buffer and milk samples. The assay sensitivity was not significantly affected by milk matrix. Our results showed that it would be possible for employing the SPR biosensor to detect Salmonella Enteritidis in near real-time.

Control of Inverted Pendulum using Twisted Gyro-Wheel (비틀림 자이로휠을 이용한 인버티드 펜듈럼의 제어)

  • A control system for stabilizing a small robot or inverted pendulum using twisted gyro wheel is proposed. Conventional stabilizer using inertial wheel employs action-reaction force/torque to control a pendulum, which can generate relatively small torque and short period of output. In this paper, a novel actuation method using twisted gyro torque in 3-dimentional space was proposed to stabilizing a pendulum by twisting the assembly including a rotating gyro wheel. In addition, two special control functions for this type of twisted gyro wheel were designed. One is the function of self-adjusting the mass center of the robot and the other is the torque reloading configuration for continuous torque generation. The proposed system was verified by experimental result and simulation. The designed twisted gyro wheel control system can be easily packed in a small size module and installed in a humanoid robot or inverted pendulum type mechanism.
