  • The objectives of this study were to assess the current practices of implementing selective menus and to identify the perception of foodservice manager and customer on selective menus for hospital foodservice would be fulfilled. Two types of questionnaires for hospital foodservice managers as well as customers were developed. Questionnaires were distributed to managers of 8 hospital foodservice department and 317 customers of patient meal service, and 6 managers and 139 customers were responded. The data were analyzed using frequency and t-test. The results of this study can be summarized as follows : 1. In hospital foodservice operations, the selective menu pattern was first introduced by L hospital on June 1994 in Seoul and recently 8 hospitals were currently implementing selective menus. But using rate of selective menus by patients were relatively low(23.2%), ranging from 15% to 32%. 2. Customers' needs for selective menus were rated significantly higher in the group of patients(4.24/5) who chose the selective menus than their counterpart(3.88/5). 3. The main reason not choosing selective menus was identified by patients as 'not knowing the implementation of selective menus'(52.6%), inconvenient factors in using selective menus for customer were also identified as orders : 'lack of nutrition information on menu item'(38.6%), 'complexity in procedure'(29.8%), and 'lack of menu variety'(26.3%). However managers considered 'managerial burden' and 'limited human resource' as main obstacle to implement the selective menu pattern. 4. Customers indicated 'variety of menu', 'active public relations' as effective methods to enhance using rate of selective menus, however, foodservice manager indicated 'variety of menu'(50%), 'improvement of quality'(16.7%), and 'simplicity in procedure'(16.7%). Based on the results of this study, following recommendations have been suggested : Managers in patient meal service should recognize customer needs for implementing selective menus and pay more attention in implementing selective menus and activating this program. For more effective implementation of activating selective menu program, the foodservice department should establish action plan on 'active publicity work', 'simplicity in procedures', 'variety of menu' and 'improvement of quality'. Especially nutrition informations on meals should be provided for customers in order to elevate participation rate.

  • This study has extracted observation data by spatial factor for the analysis of subjects' selective attention with the objects of public space at the entrance of subway stations. The methods extracting observation data can be summarized as the following. First, the frequency analysis by lattice was prevalent for those methods, but there is a limitation to the analysis of the observation data. On the contrary, the method extracting observation data by factor applied in this study can make it clear if any sight is concentrated on any particular factors in a space. Second, the results from the extracted data corresponding to the observation area can be objectified while the method setting up the observation area by applying the radius of fovea. Third, time-sequential trace of observation results of relevant factors was possible through hourly analysis of spatial factors. The consideration of the results of "corresponding spatial scope" which is the object of this study will reveal that the more the observation time, the less the degree of attention it receives. Fourth, the frequency of observation superiority was applied for the analysis of the sections with selective attention by time scope; this revealed that men and women had intensive observation in time scope I (52.4 %) and in time scope IV (24.0 %), respectively.

  • This study aimed to determine how 15 weeks of Tai Chi training affected attention and brain waves. Thirty-six university students (mean age = 24.27 years; SD = ±1.054) participated in this experiment. Participants practiced form postures from the first section of form 85 of the traditional Yang style of Tai Chi Chuan. The Frankfurt Attention Inventory (FAIR) was used to assess each participant's level of attention. The sensorimotor rhythm (SMR) power analysis demonstrated that participants in the Tai Chi group show higher SMR power than the control group. This study showed that Tai Chi Chuan increases theta and alpha waves by relaxing the body and mind, as well as through soft and slow movement and deep breathing. It reduces fast beta waves, which stabilizes the brain and improves attention. FAIR results showed that 15 weeks of Tai Chi training improved selective ability, control index, and persistence index. These findings suggested that Tai Chi is an exercise that helps improve attention.

  • Selective epitaxial growth (SEG) of silicon has attracted considerable attention for its good electrical properties and advantages in building microstructures in high-density devices. However, SEG problems, such as an unclear process window, selectivity loss, and nonuniformity have often made application difficult. In our study, we derived processing diagrams for SEG from thermodynamics on gas-phase reactions so that we could predict the SEG process zone for low pressure chemical vapor deposition. In addition, with the help of both the concept of the effective supersaturation ratio and three kinds of E-beam patterns, we evaluated and controlled selectivity loss and non-uniformity in SEG, which is affected by the loading effect. To optimize the SEG process, we propose two practical methods: One deals with cleaning the wafer, and the other involves inserting dummy active patterns into the wide insulator to prevent the silicon from nucleating.

  • Femtosecond laser micro-processing received much attention in the past decade. The nature of ultra-short light-matter interaction permits femtosecond laser to overcome the diffraction limit and realize precise micro-processing. The ultrahigh light intensity of the femtosecond laser allows sapece-selective microscopic modifications to materials based on multiphoton processes. In this paper, we review our recent research development on space-selective precipitation and control of functional crystals in glasses by an infrared femtosecond laser. The technique will open new possibilities in the fabrication of micro-optical components with various optical functions.

  • Ad-hoc networks are characterized by multi-hop wireless links, frequently changing network topology and the need for efficient dynamic routing protocols. In an Ad-hoc network, each host assumes the role of a router and relays packets toward final destinations Because a packet is broadcast to all neighboring nodes, the optimality criteria of wireless network routing is different from that of wired network routing. tn this paper 1 point out the more important cost factor than the number of links in the Ad-hoc network. A class routing protocols called on-demand protocols has recently found attention because of their low routing overhead since it performs a blind flooding to look for a path. In this paper, 1 propose the method which reduces overhead by using the information of neighboring nodes and doing a selective flooding. Simulation results demonstrate better reduction of routing overheads with this scheme.

  • Metal-binding antibiotics are very attractive choices as cation selective ionophores. The ability of tetracycline (TC) antibiotics to bind to metal ions has obtained much attention. TCs exhibit the potentiometric performance changes for various cations dependant on several experiment conditions. In this report, we investigated the potentiometric performance changes of TC as the modification of TC's possible metal binding site. We found that the selectivity alter with the blocking main binding site of ionophores for cations. And, additionally it is possible to control the selectivity of sensors with chemical modification of ionophores.

  • The study aims to verify the effects of volleyball programs on the fitness and attention-intensive abilities of students with intellectual disabilities in middle school. Physical strength and attention concentration were analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the volleyball program. The volleyball program was applied to the experimental group three times a week, 90 minutes a week, a total of 36 times for 12 weeks. To verify the effectiveness of physical strength and attention concentration, the PPS-D intellectual disability student test and ATA concentration test were used to verify the effectiveness of attention concentration The six-minute walking figure related to cardiopulmonary functions was improved compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate in the volleyball program, the report showed. We can see improvements in muscular function-related sit-ups and flexibility-related sit-ups compared to those with intellectual disabilities who did not participate, and significant changes have been seen in the distance of the place-wide jump related to net worth. We could also confirm that it had a positive effect on the improvement of selective attention concentration, and that the change in self-control, continuous attention, and selective attention among middle school students had a positive effect on the improvement.
