  • SCR(selective catalytic reduction) pilot plant for reduction of the nitrogen oxides using diesel oil as a reductant was installed at the NG(natural gas) fired combined cycle and the activity of Pt(0.3%)/Zeolite catalyst was studied in real flue gas condition according to the amount of reductant. reaction temperature and space velocity. NOx conversion gradually increased with increasing the diesel oil concentration up to C/N ratio 5.5(C/N ratio: the ratio of the number of carbon atom to the number of NOx molecules included in the flue gas). Increasing the reaction temperature. NOx conversion increased and reached a maximum conversion of 50% at $190^{\circ}C$. NOx conversion did not changed with increasing the space velocity up to 18,500/hr and then gradually decreased. These results reveal the potential for diesel oil as a reductant for de-NOx SCR process.

  • $V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$ catalysts promoted with Mn were prepared and tested for selective catalytic reduction of NOx in $NH_3.$ The effects of promoter content, degree of catalyst loading were investigated for NOx activity while changing temperatures, mole ratio, space velocity and $O_2$ concentration. Among the various $V-{2}O_{5}$ catalysts having different metal loadings, $V-{2}O_{5}$(1 wt.%) catalyst showed the highest activity(98%) under wide temperature range of $200-250^{\circ}C.$ When the $V-{2}O_{5}$ catalyst was further modified with 5 wt.% Mn as a promoter, the highest activity(90-47%) was obtained over the low temperature windows of $100-200^{\circ}C.$ From Mn-$V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$, it was found that by addition of 5 wt.% Mn on $V_{2}O_{5}/TiO_{2}$ catalyst, reduction activity of catalyst was improved, which resulted in the increase of catalytic activity and NOx reduction. According to the results, NOx removal decreased for 10%, but the reaction temperature down to $100^{\circ}C.$

  • Numerical analysis was done to evaluate the chemical reaction and the reduction rate inside of selective non-catalytic reduction to denitrification in combustion process. The $NO_X$ reduction in selective non-catalytic reduction is converted to not only nitrogen but also nitrous oxide. Simultaneous $NO_X$ reduction and nitrous oxide generation suppressing is required in selective non-catalytic reduction because nitrous oxide influences the global warming as a greenhouse gas. The current study was performed compare the computational analysis in the same temperature and amount of NaOH, and in comparison with the previous research experiments and confirmed the reliability of the computational fluid dynamics. Additionally, controlling the addition amount of NaOH to predict the $NO_X$ reduction efficiency and nitrous oxide production. Numerical analysis was done to check the mass fraction of each material in the measurement point at the end of selective non-catalytic reduction. Experimental Value and simulation value by numerical analysis showed an error of up to 18.9% was confirmed that a generally well predicted. and it was confirmed that the widened temperature range of more than 70% $NO_X$ removal rate is increased when the addition amount of NaOH. So, large and frequent changes of the reaction temperature waste incineration facilities are expected to be effective.

  • The new MPV type reagent, Al-trifluoromethanesulfonyldiisobutylalane ($DIBAO_3SCF_3$), has been prepared and its reducing characteristics in the reduction of selected organic compounds containing representative functional groups have been examined, and compared its reactivity with that of Al-methanesulfonyldiisobutylalane ($DIBAO_3SCH_3$) in order to understand the fluorine-substituent effect on its reactivity. In general, the reactivity of $DIBAO_3SCF_3$ appears to be much higher than that of $DIBAO_3SCH_3$, apparently due to the acidity increase by the electron-withdrawing fluorine-substituent. The reagent reduced aldehydes and ketones readily, but showed a perfect selectivity in the reduction of $\alpha,\beta$-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones to produce the corresponding allylic alcohols in an absolutely 100% purity. In addition, the reagent achieved the regioselective cleavage of phenyl- or/and alkyl-substituted epoxides to the less substituted alcohols in a perfect regioselectivity. Moreover, the reagent also showed an high stereoselectivity in the reduction of substituted cycloalkanones to produce the thermodynamically more stable alcohol epimers exclusively.

  • The new MPV type reagent, Al-methanesulfonyldiisobutylalane ($DIBAO_3SCH_3$), has been prepared and its reducing characteristics in the reduction of selected organic compounds containing representative functional groups have been examined in order to find out a new reducing system with high selectivity in organic synthesis. In general, the reagent is extremely mild, showing only reactivity toward aldehydes, ketones and epoxides. The reagent exhibits a unique reducing applicability in organic synthesis. Thus, the reagent can achieve a clean 1,2-reduction of $\alpha,\beta$-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones to produce the corresponding allylic alcohols in 100% purity. In addition, the reagent shows an excellent regioselectivity in the ring-opening reaction of epoxides. Finally, $DIBAO_3SCH_3$ shows a high stereoselectivity in the reduction of cyclic ketones to produce the thermodynamically more stable epimers exclusively.

  • In this experimental, selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of NO with NH3 over manganese sulfates and manganese sulfates was investigated with catalytic activity, kinetics, temperature programmed reduction (TPR) and TGA. Manganese oxides showed high catalytic activity for SCR at temperature below $200^{\circ}C$. In case of manganese sulfates, the temperature at which SCR of nitric oxide appears shifted to high temperature with sulfation degree, and the maximum catalytic efficiency decreased. The temperature of the onset of reduction for manganese oxides and manganese sulfates is about $160^{\circ}C$ and over $280^{\circ}C$, respectively. We suggest that the onset of reduction in TPR correlates with the onset of SCR activity. Because the pre-exponential factor of manganese sulfates is lower as 1/1000 times than that of other catalysts, catalytic activity of manganese sulfates for NO showed low. The reduction temperature of natural manganese ore which consists of various metal oxides showed lower than that of pure manganese oxides.

  • The new MPV-type reagent, Al-fluorodiisobutylalane (DIBAF), has been prepared and their reducing characteristics in the reduction of selected organic compounds containing representative functional groups have been examined in order to find out a new reducing system with unique applicability in organic synthesis. In general, the reagent is extremely mild, showing only reactivity toward aldehydes, ketones, and epoxides. The reagent achives a clean 1,2-reduction of enals to the corresponding allylic alcohols in a 100% purity, but shows no reactivity toward enones. The reagent also shows an excellent regioselective cleavage of substituted epoxides. In addition, DIBAF produces the thermodynamically more stable alcohol epimer in high stereoselectivity in the reduction of cyclic ketones.

  • Details are described of reaction of carbonyl compounds with diisobutyldialkylaminoalane (DIBAL-NR2; R=Et, i-Bu, Ph) in order to establish their reduction characteristics. The reagents were extremely mild and reduced only aldehydes and ketones effectively in ethyl ether at 25 ℃. The stereoselectivity in the reduction of representative cyclic ketones appeared not so high but quite different from that obtained by DIBAL-H itself. The reagents reduced α,β-unsaturated aldehydes and ketones to the corresponding allylic alcohols without any detectable 1,4-reduction products. DIBAL-NR2 also achieved the selective reduction of aldehydes or ketones in the presence of keto or other readily reducible functional group, however the chemoselectivity was less satisfactory than that achieved by diisobutylethoxyalane (DI-BAL-OEt).

  • Purpose: This study aimed to explore and understand the experience of decision making among women undergoing or forgoing selective fetal reduction who have higher-order multiple pregnancies through assisted reproductive techniques. Methods: A qualitative study was conducted from August 1, to October 30, 2013. Eight participants were interviewed and the interviews were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Six persons participated in in-depth interviews in person and two participated over the telephone. A thematic analysis was conducted. Results: Four themes were identified and carefully named: Confusion after higher-order multiple pregnancy; Obstacles to choice: Uncertain safety; Weighing between reality and ideality and; Influences of medical professionals. Conclusion: The results demonstrated a wide range of factors considered by women when making decisions about selective fetal reduction, and mothers' feelings of conflict and distress in the decision-making process. The results suggest that it is important for nurses to provide emotional support and consolation, in addition to sufficient information. These findings will help nurses improve their counseling techniques by understanding the situation of infertile couples.
