  • Particle filter algorithm has been proven very successful for non-linear and non-Gaussian estimation problem and thus it has been widely used for object tracking for video signals. If the object moves significantly, particle filter needs very large number of particles to track object and this results high computational cost. In this paper, modified particle filter by adopting motion vector is proposed for tracking vehicle in low frame rate(LPR) video input, which the object moving significantly and randomly between consecutive frames. In the proposed algorithm, motion vector is applied in selection and observe step. The experimental result shows that the proposed particle filter can track vehicle successfully in the case when previous one fails. And it also shows the propose method increases the precision of tracking.

  • A new vehicle detection algorithm based on the multiple optimal Adaboost classifiers with optimal feature selection is proposed. It consists of two major modules: 1) Theoretical DDISF(Distance Dependent Image Scaling Factor) based image scaling by site modeling of the installed cameras. and 2) optimal features selection by Haar-like feature analysis depending on the distance of the vehicles. The experimental results of the proposed algorithm shows improved recognition rate compare to the previous methods for vehicles and non-vehicles. The proposed algorithm shows about 96.43% detection rate and about 3.77% false alarm rate. These are 3.69% and 1.28% improvement compared to the standard Adaboost algorithmt.

  • The learning speed of the neural networks, the most important factor in applying to real problems, greatly depends on the learning rate of the networks, Three approaches-empirical, deterministic, and stochastic ones-have been proposed to date. We proposed a new learning-rate selection algorithm using an evolutionary programming search scheme. Even though the performance of our method showed better than those of the other methods, it was found that taking much time for selecting evolutionary learning rates made the performance of our method degrade. This was caused by using static intervals (called static windows) in order to update learning rates. Out algorithm with static windows updated the learning rates showed good performance or didn't update the learning rates even though previously updated learning rates shoved bad performance. This paper introduce a window control scheme to avoid such problems. With the window control scheme, our algorithm try to update the learning ra es only when the learning performance is continuously bad during a specified interval. If previously selected learning rates show good performance, new algorithm will not update the learning rates. This diminish the updating time of learning rates greatly. As a result, our algorithm with the window control scheme show better performance than that with static windows. In this paper, we will describe the previous and new algorithm and experimental results.

  • This study was done to examine the relationship between serum chemical values (urea nitrogen, glucose, total protein and cholesterol) of recipients and pregnancy rate following embryo transfer. Blood samples were taken from 184 Holstein heifers or cows on Day 6 or 7 (Day 0=day of estrus) to analysis for serum urea nitrogen, glucose, total protein and cholesterol concentrations. After selection of recipients, frozen Holstein embryos were thawed and directly transferred to recipients non-surgically. The average serum concentrations of urea nitrogen, glucose, total protein and cholesterol were 13.8 mg/dl, 56.5 mg/dl, 7.2 mg/dl, 124.8 mg/dl, respectively. The average concentrations of serum urea nitrogen and cholesterol were lower (P<0.05) in pregnant recipients (10.7 mg/dl, 99.2 mg/dl) than in non-pregnant recipients (13.0 mg/dl, 122.2 mg/dl), respectively, although the concentrations of glucose and total protein were not different. These results show serum urea nitrogen and cholesterol concentrations can be used important factors for selection of recipients in Holstein.

  • Seveval Chinese and Japanese varieties with good characters were used in the breeding. After 5 years (15 generations), a pair of robust and high quality silkworm variety with NPV resistance was bred by means of a combination of crossing and pedigree selection complemented by the selection of NPV resistance. The variety was identified jointly nationwide in 2003 and 2004, and appraised by National Mulberry and Silkworm Appraising Committee. Results are as follows: its cocooning rate is over 93%, shell rate 23-25%, filament length 1200-1300 meters, reelability 75-88%, Length of non-broken cocoon filament 900-1100 meters, raw silk rate 17-19%, neatness 95-97 points, and cocoon crop, cocoon shell weight and raw silk weight per 10000 larvae is higher than those of the control variety by 7-10%, 14-19% and 14-18%, respectively. The variety is not only robust, resistant to high temperature and NPV, easy to rear, uniform in hatching, molting and maturing, but also lays more eggs, and its fecundity is high. It is suitable to rear in the Yangtze River Basin, the Yellow River basin and the Pearl River basin of China.

  • In this paper, three coordinated random beamforming (CRBF) schemes are analyzed in a two-cell symmetric interference channel. A simple partial coordination of RBF with base station selection (BSS) is shown to achieve the same average sum rate performance of CRBF with joint encoding (JE). To improve the sum rate performance further, we also propose a transmission mode selection (TMS) between the BSS and JE which is shown to have additional sum rate gain for the large number of users. Simulation results verify the eectiveness of the proposed CRBF schemes and accuracy of the proposed analysis.

  • The purposes of this study were to identify and compared the selection conditions of spouses and the perceptions of marriage and childbirth by sex. Moreover, this study tried to find the number of child the study subjects want to have in their marriage and what factors were important for whether they have no or one child or more than two children. The study subjects were college students who were belong to 6 health care related departments selected randomly from all health care related departments in one metropolitan area. In the selection conditions as their spouses, they ranked 'love', 'personality' and 'wealthiness' as important factors in order. Male ranked females' employment as 10th but female ranked it 5th. In conclusion, there were concordances and dis-concordances on the perceptions of marriage and child birth by sex. Understanding these factors caused by gender roles in our society could contribute to making new policies for promoting marriage rate in younger age and overcoming the problems of low birth rates by giving more specific data to policy makers for increasing child birth rate.

  • In this work, we compared several feature selection methods in the field of spam mail filtering. The proposed fuzzy inference method outperforms information gain and chi squared test methods as a feature selection method in terms of error rate. In the case of junk mails, since the mail body has little text information, it provides insufficient hints to distinguish spam mails from legitimate ones. To address this problem, we follow hyperlinks contained in the email body, fetch contents of a remote web page, and extract hints from both original email body and fetched web pages. A two-phase approach is applied to filter spam mails in which definite hint is used first, and then less definite textual information is used. In our experiment, the proposed two-phase method achieved an improvement of recall by 32.4% on the average over the $1^{st}$ phase or the $2^{nd}$ phase only works.

  • In this study the classified researches the artificial and natural flaws in welding parts are performed using the pattern recognition technology. For this purpose the signal pattern recognition package including the user defined function was developed and the total procedure including the digital signal processing feature extraction feature selection and classifi-er selection is teated by bulk,. Specially it is composed with and discussed using the statistical classifier such as the linear discriminant function the empirical Bayesian classifier. Also the pattern recognition technology is applied to classifica-tion problem of natural flaw(i.e multiple classification problem-crack lack of penetration lack of fusion porosity and slag inclusion the planar and volumetric flaw classification problem), According to this result it is possible to acquire the recognition rate of 83% above even through it is different a little according to domain extracting the feature and the classifier.
