  • A better selection model on management innovative enterprises is needed since the Korean government provides multi benefits to those selected enterprises. However, the selection model's propriety is suspicious because of the shortage of consideration of assessment items. In particular, the most important two assessment items, strategy and performance are suspected of multicollinearity because of high correlation scores. No consideration on multicollinearity among those items leads to erroneous selection which doubly counts the same components with different item names. The principle component analysis is applied to factor out the uncorrelated items. Using the resulted principle components, the new estimations are carried out. The comparison between estimated results from using principle components and non principle components shows that the present selection model overly considers the performance items compared to the real effect of items, which is a result of multicollinearity between performance and strategy.

  • In this paper, we studied Dongssi' acupuncture therapy via the consideration of development process of Oriental medicine in history. We investigated the distribution chart and naming of Dongssi' acupuncture point in human body, artificial selection principle of Dongssi' acupuncture point to therapy (選穴原則) on the various diseases, the therapy of pyo-bon (標本理論) and the therapy of Geun-Gyeal (根結理論) and compared GeoZa-principle (巨刺法) and MuZa-principle (繆刺法) with artificial selection principle of Dongssi' acupuncture point. And we also studied the acupuncture therapy of DongGi (動氣鍼法), DoMa (倒馬鍼法) and SaeIn (索引鍼法), which is the unique principle in Dongssi' acupuncture theraphy, to consider with the other Oriental medicine theory which is the theory of ZangSang (臟象學說) and BiWi (脾胃學說) etc. Our desire in this study is the giving aid to treatment diseases with the acupuncture therapy in Oriental medicine.

  • This paper defends Stalnaker's theory of indicative conditionals. His theory consists of selection functions and pragmatic constraints. The selection function takes a certain possible world(W) and a proposition(A) to yield a possilble world that is similar to W and in which A is true. And the pragmatic constraints plays role to make selection functions apply just to indicative conditionals. According to Stalnaker, as indicative conditionals has strong truth-value, uncontested principle always holds but passage principle does not always hold. However, his theory can explain why passage principle sometimes holds by means of pragmatic constraints. Also, this paper argues that Stalnaker's theory is the most acceptable one among others, by replying to criticisms suggested by Adamsians and the problem raised by Gibbard and other criticisms.

  • PyoBon GeunGyul - one of the twelve regular meridians theory - play a important role on the principle of point selection and point prescription in acumoxibustion. PyoBon explain the connection of the concentration and diffusion of channel qi, GeunGyul explain the relation of both poles of channels flow. So, Geun and Bon means the starting point of channel qi, and Pyo and Gyul means the terminal point of channel qi. But the flow of channel qi on PyoBon GeunGyul different from today's circulation courses of twelve regular channels based on Kyungmaek(經脈) chapter of Youngchu. Thus this study investigate the contents of PyoBon GeunGyul and consider its connection with channel flow. The results are as follows : 1. PyoBon GeunGyul theory explain that the relation of the limbs and trunk at meridian and emphasize that the connection of meridian and the importance of the limb acupoints. 2. PyoBon GeunGyul theory can be understandable in the view of the primordial qi and explain that the primordial qi of twelve regular channels acts from the limbs to the trunk. 3. PyoBon GeunGyul theory is based on the system of primordial qi channel which circulates from fingers and toes facing toward heart or the head, different from today's circulation courses of twelve regular meridians. 4. PyoBon GeunGyul theory act as a basis of principle of a part or distant point selection which applicated widely in acumoxibustion.

  • We investigate both the design-based and model-based inferences, which are usual inferential methods in survey sampling. While the design-based inference is on the basis of randomization principle, The motel-based inference is based on likelihood principle as well as conditionality principle. There have been some disputes between two inferences for a long time and those have not yet been determined. In this paper we reviewed some issues on two inferences and compared their advantages and disadvantages in some viewpoints.

  • Variable selection is one of the most crucial tasks in supervised learning, such as regression and classification. The best subset selection is straightforward and optimal but not practically applicable unless the number of predictors is small. In this article, we propose directly solving the best subset selection via the genetic algorithm (GA), a popular stochastic optimization algorithm based on the principle of Darwinian evolution. To further improve the variable selection performance, we propose to run multiple GA to solve the best subset selection and then synthesize the results, which we call ensemble GA (EGA). The EGA significantly improves variable selection performance. In addition, the proposed method is essentially the best subset selection and hence applicable to a variety of models with different selection criteria. We compare the proposed EGA to existing variable selection methods under various models, including linear regression, Poisson regression, and Cox regression for survival data. Both simulation and real data analysis demonstrate the promising performance of the proposed method.

  • In sample surveys, we expect preferred samples that reduce the survey cost and increase the precision of estimators will be selected. Goodman and Kish (1950) introduced controlled selection as a method of sample selection that increases the probability of drawing preferred samples, while decreases the probability of drawing nonpreferred samples. In this paper, we obtain the controlled plans using the maximum entropy principle, and when the order of nonpreferred samples is considered, we propose the algorithm to obtain a controlled plan.

  • G. Gruenhage gave a characterization of paracompactness of locally compact spaces in terms of game theory ([6]). Starting from that result we give another such characterization using a selective version of that game, and study a selection principle in the class of locally compact spaces and its relationships with game theory and a Ramseyan partition relation. We also consider a selective version of paracompactness.

  • This presentation is a short summary of the Finnish process for selection and characterisation of potential sites for geological deep disposal of spent nuclear fuel. The process lasted nearly two decades from 1983 to 2000, and was concluded by the Government's Decision in Principle (DiP) on the construction of a repository in Olkiluoto. This presentation gives an outline of the early site selection criteria and a description of this process.

  • This paper deals with manufacturing process design of a simplified gun tube applying CE principle. A concept and characteristics of CE, mathematical model for understanding interaction between design and manufacturing, basic elements and related equations for process planning and cost estimating are introduced. A Knowledge-based Computer-Aided Process Planning System(KCAPPS) is constructed, yielding optimal production cost/time for the shape input and selection of appropriate machines and tools.
