The Selection of Significant Points from Grid DEM by High-Pass Filtering (하이-패스 필터링에 의한 격자형 수치표고모델의 중심점 추출)

  • In general, Digital Elevation Models(DEM) are constructed in a grid format for this form is advantageous to capture data automatically and is easy to manipulate. But, grid DEM requires vast volumes of data to represent terrain features finely and accurately as its data is sampled in a regular space. This paper aims at constructing compact DEM by selecting the significant points from grid DEM which affect well the terrain features. For the purpose, the significant points is detected by the high-pass filtering using Laplacian operator and gradient operator. The results of this study show that the Laplacian operator is more efficient than the gradient operator in selecting the significant points for compact DEM.

  • The importance of project performance management as an alternative for solving problems is rising, which are followed by the hardships of managing construction project in the construction industry. This research classifies and applies the improvements made by the operator's work, in order to apply factors of success on the construction project, as performance management factors. In addition, in order to predict the results reflecting the project characteristic of performance management factor un-improvable by the operator in the initial stage of construction, the effect of project characteristic to the performance was drawn by performance difficulty. Also, in order to improve the predicted performance, researches on setting valid best practices according to the performance territory through a correlation analysis between the best practices improvable through the operator's work, and the performance was made.

  • The Korean government, as of last year, is attempting to introduce a competitive system in the rail-market. However there are some pertinent issues which need to be addressed in order to select the best possible organization for optimum railway traffic control. As there are no standard guidelines in selecting an agency, objective evaluation factors need to be properly applied to ensure the best possible decision is made. Through literature review and various interviews with experts, appropriate criteria were selected to evaluate the suitability of each potential operator. As generally mentioned, both safety and efficiency play vital roles in the selection process but in addition, there are other factors such as security and fairness, which also need to be considered. The individual weight of these factors were calculated by the AHP, in which three groups of experts were interviewed to acquire their expertise. According to the results, as a potential operator, the score of a railway operating company and the management cooperation of railway is 2.75 and 3.85, respectively. In the future, in preparation towards becoming a competitive rail-market, this research is expected to assist in choosing the best party to control the rail traffic system.

  • Previous methods to evaluate the risk of dropped objects rely on personnel experience of the engineer or operator without analyzed data. However analyzing historical statistic data is the best approach to find the safest operation route and to achieve more reasonable and reliable calculation results. By counting the failure frequency and fatal accident rate the risk can be quantified, and so controlled or mitigated with best economical risk reducing measures. This analysis gives a crane operator with useful information for selecting the best crane operation route, and a designer with an estimation of risk level for the dropped objects from a safety point of view.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate crucial factors on HACCP system implementation in domestic livestock product plants, and to offer job satisfaction and the career prospect of HACCP system operators. The survey was carried out by selecting 150 HACCP system operators who implemented HACCP system. The respondents claimed that the most important contents in HACCP system operation were to assemble HACCP team (21.8%), and the second was to monitoring (20.0%). Documentation and recording (16.9%) and verification (11.1%) were followed. The respondents answered the major factor in sanitation management was cleaning/washing/disinfection (18.9%) and inspection (18.4%). The results showed that there were significant differences in the prospect of occupation in HACCP system operator by the gender (p < 0.015), age, livestock product facilities, service period, and position (p < 0.001). The respondents from HACCP system operator were satisfied with their job (73%) and also showed optimistic prospect of occupation (82%).

  • In this paper, the importance of including small image features at the initial levels of a progressive second generation video coding scheme is presented. It is shown that a number of meaningful small features called details shouuld be coded in order to match their perceptual significance to the human visual system. We propose a method for extracting, perceptually selecting and coding of visual details in a video sequence using morphological laplacian operator and modified post-it transform is very efficient for improving quality of the reconstructed images.

  • In this paper an advanced algorithm for selecting a seam line automatically, which used to be selected by human operator for mosaicked images is presented. In addition to four factors proposed by automation theory, the FOM(Figure Of Merit) of tie point were taken into account to suggest the method to select a seam line applicatively and the algorithm was applied to mosaic test images.

  • In this article, criteria and considerations for selecting a domestic Personal Communications Services (PCS) system in Korea are presented and upbanded IS-95 Common Air Interface (CAI) is asserted to be appropriate as a result of evaluation by the criteria. And Shinsegi Telecomm, Inc. (STI) is claimed to be a suitable operator to provide PCS by upbanded IS-95 considering the experiences as the cellular operator adopting IS-95 CDMA technology. The PCS R&D plan and strategies of STI are given and the joint R&D plan with domestic manufacturers to develop PCS systems are explained. The results from R&D so far are mentioned. The PCS network architecture and various services-basic voice service, value-added services and wireless data services-are discussed.

Development of a Dike Line Selection Method Using Multispectral Orthoimages and Topographic LiDAR Data Taken in the Nakdong River Basins

  • Dike lines are important features for describing the detailed shapes of dikes and for detecting topographic changes on dike surfaces. Historically, dike lines have been generated using only the LiDAR data. This paper proposes a new methodology for selecting an appropriate dike line on various dike surfaces using the topographic LiDAR data and multispectral orthoimages taken in the Nakdong River basins. The fi rst baselines were generated from the given LiDAR data using the modified convex hull algorithm and smoothing spline function, and the second baselines were generated from the given orthoimages by the Canny operator. Next, one baseline was selected among the two baselines at 10m intervals by comparing their elevations, and the selected baseline at 10m interval was defined as the dike line segment. Finally, the selected dike line segments were connected to construct the 3D dike lines. The statistical results show that the dike lines generated using both the LiDAR data and multispectral orthoimages had the improved horizontal and vertical accuracies than the dike lines generated only using the LiDAR data on the various dike surfaces.

A Traveling Control System with the X-Y Table Actuator for Unmanned Operation in the Greenhouse (시설재배용 무인작업기를 위한 X-Y 테이블형 이동 시스템 개발)

  • In this study. a traveling control system was developed to transfer a machine without an operator in the working zone. The dimension of the system was modelized to design and construct smaller than that of real configuration of a greenhouse. For this system, the fixed path type was used to detect exact position during operating a manless machine. and the X-Y table actuator type to escape a unique path, which had the disadvantage in a fixed path type environment. Based on the results of this research the following conclusions were made : 1. This system used two screws to move toward horizontal direction, and a Plate to reach at any points in the working zone. 2. The software combined the functions of path selection and motor operation to control into one program. The path selection program was a menu driven program written in Visual Basic, and the motor operation program was written in Borland C++ for actuating motors. 3. The path-select mode of the program was used by selecting the desired paths, and the user path-create mode by selecting a random path in the path-selection program. 4. The system proved to be a reliable system for operating a manless machine, since accuracy and precision to reach the positions were less than 1%.
