  • In the present study, we have examined the crossability of four species in the A. jaluense complex to provide additional information on their delimitation and levels of differentiation. Crosses between diploid A. chiisanense and the tetraploid species including A. jaluense s. str., A. triphyllum, and A. pseudoproliferum yielded no fruit- or seed-set, indicating that the former species is reproductively completely isolated from the latter three species. In interspecific crosses between the tetraploid species, combinations involving A. jaluense s. str. resulted in much reduced fruit- and seed-set, indicating that A. jaluense s. str. is more or less reproductively isolated from the other tetraploid species. However, crossing data revealed the absence of reproductive isolation between A. triphyllum and A. pseudoproliferum These results strongly support the relationships that have been previously suggested for the A. jaluense complex on the basis of morphology, chromosome number, and flavonoid chemistry.

Frequently used materials were sesame oil, honey, ear mushroom, shiitake mushroom, kelp, walnut seed, hemp seed, groundnut, glutinous rice, apricot stone, yellow bean peel, radish, potato, spinage, and spring onion. Conclusion : Though dietary therapy for the constipation is not based on clinical or experimental data, but through experience. It is mostly based on Yin-Yang and five elements, visceral manifestation, channels and their collateral channels and chinese herbal medicine theories. If we use them properly according to oriental medicine method, it will be effective on treating and preventing the constipation.

  • NdAl3(BO3)4 have been developed for miniature solid state laser material. Single crystals of NdAl3(BO3)4 were grown by TSSG technique using BaB4O7 flux. The effects of growth conditions such as cooling rate, seed orientation and rotation speed on crystal quality and the morphology were studied. At the cooling rate of 2.4$^{\circ}C$/day and the crystal rotation speed of 30~40rpm with the seed orientation in <201> or <100> directions, transparent and light violet colored crystals in size of 10$\times$15$\times$20㎣ with well developed {010}, {111}, {111}, {021}, {001}, {102}, {112}, {021} faces were obtained. By X-ray diffraction analysis, the space group was determined as C2/c, and the X-ray powder data was obtained.

  • Sustainability became the keyword of our society worldwide, and it is undoubtful that buildings are mainly responsible for green house gas emission and energy consumption. Among different project types, educational facility was selected in this study to find out what needs to be addressed in order to provide students better learning environments. Scorecards from 32 LEED certified school projects went through analysis and essential components as design strategies in sustainable educational facilities were extracted based on application rate of each credit in LEED for School(2009). The extracted data were further analyzed in comparison with related components in G-SEED. The results would be used as guidelines for those of who design sustainable education facilities and prepare green building certifications. and it would further foster architect's responsibility towards green society in Korea.

  • Three species of seed beetles, Acanthoscelides pallidipennis (Motschulsky, 1874), Bruchidius terrenus (Sharp, 1886), and Kytorhinus senilis Solsky, 1869, from South Korea are reported for the first time. These three species can be morphologically distinguished from other Korean bruchid species by the distinctive color pattern of the elytra, presence of subapical spines on hind femur, and exposed last three tergites of abdomen, respectively. In this study, partial sequences of mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase subunit I from Korean specimens of these species were generated. In addition, host plants, distribution maps, and photographs of the dorsal habitus and live specimens of each species are also included.

  • In hippocampal morphology Abnormalities, including unilateral or bilateral volume loss, are known to occur in epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease, and in certain amnestic syndromes. To detect such abnormalities in hippocampal morphology, we present a method that combines region growing and dynamic contour model to detect hippocampus from MRI brain data. The segmentation process is performed two steps. First region growing with a seed point is performed in the region of hippocampus and the initial contour of dynamic contour model is obtained. Second, the initial contour is modified on the basis of criteria that integrate energy with contour smoothness and the image gradient along the contour. As a result, this method improves fairly sensitivity to the choice of the initial seed point, which is often seen by conventional contour model. The power and practicality of this method have been tested on two brain datasets. Thus, we have developed an effective algorithm to extract hippocampus from MRI brain data.

  • Xanthoceras sorbifolia seed coat (XSSC) is a processing residue of the bioenergy crop. This work aimed to evaluate the applicability of using the steam explosion to modify the residue for dye biosorption from aqueous solutions by using methylene blue as a model cationic dye. Equilibrium, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters for the biosorption of methylene blue on the steam-exploded XSSC (SE-XSSC) were evaluated. The kinetic data followed the pseudo-second-order model, and the rate-limiting step was the chemical adsorption. Intraparticle diffusion was one of the rate-controlling factors. The equilibrium data agreed well with the Langmuir isotherm, and the biosorption was favorable. The steam-explosion pretreatment strongly affected the biosorption in some respects. It reduced the adsorption rate constant and the initial sorption rate of the pseudo-second-order model. It enhanced the adsorption capacity of methylene blue at higher temperatures while reduced the capacity at lower ones. It changed the biosorption from an exothermic process driven by both the enthalpy and the entropy to an endothermic one driven by entropy only. It increased the surface area and decreased the pH point of zero charge of the biomass. Compared with the native XSSC, SE-XSSC is preferable to MB biosorption from warmer dye effluents.

  • Parallel processing in block cryptographic algorithm is difficult, because Feistel structure that is basis structure of block cryptographic algorithm is sequential processing structure. Therefore this paper changes these sequential processing structure and Feistel structure made parallel processing to be possible. This paper that apply this modified structure designed DES that have parallel Feistel structure. Proposed parallel Feistel structure could prove greatly block cryptographic algorithm's performance such as DES and so on that could not but have trade-off relation the data processing speed and data security interval because block cryptographic algorithm can not use pipeline method because of itself structural problem. Therefore, modified Feistel structure is going to display more superior security function and processing ability of high speed than now in case apply way that is proposed to SEED, AES's Rijndael, Twofish etc. that apply Feistel structure.

  • Background: To address the lack of evidence supporting invasion by three invasive plant species (Imperata cylindrica, Lantana camara, and Chromolaena odorata) in tropical ecosystems, we compared the ecophysiological and leaf anatomical traits of these three invasive alien species with those of species native to Sempu Island, Indonesia. Data on four plant traits were obtained from the TRY Plant Trait Database, and leaf anatomical traits were measured using transverse leaf sections. Results: Two ecophysiological traits including specific leaf area (SLA) and seed dry weight showed significant association with plant invasion in the Sempu Island Nature Reserve. Invasive species showed higher SLA and lower seed dry weight than non-invasive species. Moreover, invasive species showed superior leaf anatomical traits including sclerenchymatous tissue thickness, vascular bundle area, chlorophyll content, and bundle sheath area. Principal component analysis (PCA) showed that leaf anatomical traits strongly influenced with cumulative variances (100% in grass and 88.92% in shrubs), where I. cylindrica and C. odorata outperformed non-invasive species in these traits. Conclusions: These data suggest that the traits studied are important for plant invasiveness since ecophysiological traits influence of light capture, plant growth, and reproduction while leaf anatomical traits affect herbivory, photosynthetic assimilate transport, and photosynthetic activity.
