  • Sony has recently launched a remote play service that connects PC and PlayStation4 using the Internet. This service enables the network connection between the external network and PS4 network. After the service released, additional security threats may arise in remote environments with new services. Therefore, those threats should have been analyzed. In this paper, as applying threat modeling to remote play system, threats have been analyzed and identified. After cost-effective and usability analysis, finally, reasonable security measure of each threat has been suggested.

  • Purpose This study discusses the contradictory behavior of smart-phone users who consider security is important, but they do not follow the security recommendations. We found through literature research that this contradictory behavior is resulted from a low level of efficacy. Design/methodology/approach Research hypotheses were set based on Extended Parallel Process Model, Control Theory, and Self Efficacy Mechanism. The data were collected from undergraduate students. Total of 178 data were used for the analysis. Findings Results of the analysis, first, showed that the relationship between threat and security attitude varies with the level of coping efficacy. Second, showed that the relationship between threat and fear does not vary with the level of coping efficacy. Both the groups with high coping efficacy and low coping efficacy had a statistically significant effect on the relationship between threat and fear.

  • In this paper, we analyze the security requirement for a circulation of the classified documents. During the whole document process phases, including phases of drafting, sending/receiving messages, document approval, storing and saving, reading, examining, out-sending and canceling a document, we catch hold of accompanied threat factors and export every threat factors of security. We also propose an appropriate and correspondent approach for security in a well-prepared way. Last, we present the security guidelines for security architecture of the classified documents circulation.

  • The method which research a standardization from real time cyber threat is finding the suspicious indication above the attack against cyber space include internet worm, virus and hacking using analysis the event of each security system through correlation with the critical point, and draft a general standardization plan through statistical analysis of this evaluation result. It means that becomes the basis which constructs the effective cyber attack response system. Especially at the time of security accident occurrence, It overcomes the problem of existing security system through a definition of the event of security system and traffic volume and a concretize of database input method, and propose the standardization plan which is the cornerstone real time response and early warning system. a general standardization plan of this paper summarizes that put out of threat index, threat rating through adding this index and the package of early warning process, output a basis of cyber threat index calculation.

  • The connected car services are one of the most widely used services in the Internet of Things environment, and they provide numerous services to existing vehicles by connecting them through networks inside and outside the vehicle. However, although vehicle manufacturers are developing services considering the means to secure the connected car services, concerns about the security of the connected car services are growing due to the increasing number of attack cases. In this study, we reviewed the research related to the connected car services that have been announced so far, and we identified the threats that may exist in the connected car services through security threat modeling to improve the fundamental security level of the connected car services. As a result of performing the test to the applications for connected car services developed by four manufacturers, we found that all four companies' applications excessively requested unnecessary permissions for application operation, and the apps did not obfuscate the source code. Additionally, we found that there were still vulnerabilities in application items such as exposing error messages and debugging information.

  • In order to build a secure electric vehicle charging infrastructure, security research is required because various data including charging and payment data are transmitted in the electric vehicle charging infrastructure. However, previous researches have focused on smart grid related security research such as power system infrastructure rather than charging infrastructure for electric vehicle charging. In addition, research on charging infrastructure is still lacking, and research using a systematic methodology such as threat modeling is not yet under way. Therefore, it is necessary to apply threat modeling to identify security threats and systematically analyze security requirements to build a secure electric vehicle charging infrastructure. In this paper, we analyze the electric vehicle charging infrastructure by accurately identifying possible threats and deriving objective security requirements using threat modeling including Data Flow Diagram, STRIDE, and Attack Tree.

  • Today many companies are offering IoT-enabled products and place emphasis on security from the planning stage to protect their products and user information from external threats. The present security levels, however, remain low because the time and resources invested in developing security requirements for each device are far from enough to meet the needs of a wide range of IoT products. Nevertheless, vulnerabilities of IoT devices have been reported continuously, which calls for more detailed security requirements for home IoT devices. In this context, this research identified threats of home IoT systems by using Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool. It then suggested measures to enhance the security of home IoT devices by developing security assessment items through comparative analysis of the identified threats, domestic and global vulnerability assessment standards and related research. It also verified the effectiveness of the developed security requirements by testing them against the existing ones, and the results revealed the security requirements developed in this research proved to be more effective in identifying vulnerabilities.

  • Industrial control systems in nuclear facilities are facing increasing cyber threats due to the widespread use of information and communication equipment. To implement cyber security programs effectively through the RG 5.71, it is necessary to quantitatively assess cyber risks. However, this can be challenging due to limited historical data on threats and customized Critical Digital Assets (CDAs) in nuclear facilities. Previous works have focused on identifying data flows, the assets where the data is stored and processed, which means that the methods are heavily biased towards information security concerns. Additionally, in nuclear facilities, cyber threats need to be analyzed from a safety perspective. In this study, we use the system theoretic process analysis to identify system-level threat scenarios that could violate safety constraints. Instead of quantifying the likelihood of exploiting vulnerabilities, we quantify Security Control Measures (SCMs) against the identified threat scenarios. We classify the system and CDAs into four consequence-based classes, as presented in NEI 13-10, to analyze the adversary impact on CDAs. This allows for the ranking of identified threat scenarios according to the quantified SCMs. The proposed framework enables stakeholders to more effectively and accurately rank cyber risks, as well as establish security and response strategies.

  • The security requirements identification in the software development has received some attention recently. However, previous methods do not provide clear method and process of security requirements identification. We propose a process that software developers can build application specific security requirements from state transition diagrams at the security threat location. The proposed process consists of building model and identifying application specific security requirements. The state transition diagram is constructed through subprocesses i) the identification of security threat locations using security failure data based on the point that attackers exploit software vulnerabilities and attack system assets, ii) the construction of a state transition diagram which is usable to protect, mitigate, and remove vulnerabilities of security threat locations. The identification Process of application specific security requirements consist of i) the analysis of the functional requirements of the software, which are decomposed into a DFD(Data Flow Diagram; the identification of the security threat location; and the appliance of the corresponding state transition diagram into the security threat locations, ii) the construction of the application specific state transition diagram, iii) the construction of security requirements based on the rule of the identification of security requirements. The proposed method is helpful to identify the security requirements easily at an early phase of software development.
