In this study, we examined the effects of dietary fatty acids on the fatty acid composition of phospholipid fractions in regions of the brain and on behavioral development in rats. The Sprague Dawley rats were fed the experimental diets 3~4 wks prior to the conception. Experimental diets consisted of 10% fat(wt/wt) which were from either safflower oil (SO, poor in $\omega$3 fatty acids), mixed oil MO, P/M/S ratio : 1:1.4:1, $\omega$6/$\omega$3 ratio = 6.3), or mixed oil supplemented with vitamin E (+500 mg/kg diet). At 3 and 9 weeks of age, frontal cortex (FC), corpus striatum (CS), hippocampus (H), and cerebellum (CB) were dissected from the whole brain. The fatty acid content was determined in the different phospholipid fractions: phosphatidylcholine (PC), phosphatidyl-serine (PS), and phosphatidylethanolamine (PE) in the rat brain regions. In the visual discrimination test, the order of the cumulative errors made in Y-water maze test were SO > MO > ME. This suggested that the balanced diet supplemented with vitamin I had the most beneficial effect on learning ability. The overall characteristics of correlation between fatty acids and behavior development were that the frequency of cumulative errors were negatively correlated significantly with monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), ie., 18:1 $\omega$9 and 22:1 $\omega$9. Docosa-hexaenoic acid (22:6 $\omega$3) of PS in frontal cortex (FC) was negatively correlated with the number of errors made in the Y-water maze test.22:5 $\omega$6 PS in hippocampus (H), PC and PE in corpus striatum (CS), PC in cerebellum (CB) were positively correlated with cumulative errors. And these errors were negatively correlated with 20:4 $\omega$ 6 of PE in corpus striatum (CS) and PC in cerebellum (CB). Especially, O1eic acid (18:1 u 9) in all phospholipid fractions (PC, PS, PE) of hippocampus was negatively correlated with the number of errors. These findings demonstrate that the MUFAs were might be essential for proper brain development, especially in hippocampus which is generally thought to be the regions of memory and learning.
In this study, the relationship between mechanical properties and the effects of second phase in tri-phase steel which was composed of ferrite-martensite-bainite was investigated. In order to obtain different microstructure of ferrite+martensite(DP), ferrite+bainite(F+B), and ferrite+martensite+bainite(TP, different heat treatment has been accomplished. The effects of volume fraction and microstructure of each specimen were studied on tensile property, Charpy impact energy and stretch-flangeability. As the bainite content in triphase steels increased, the tensile strength, and yield strength decreased as well as the reduction of area and strength-uniform elongation increased. However, ferrite-bainite steel had high yield ratio and yield point elongation. The Charpy impact energy of TP and F+B steel was higher than that of DP steel. In addition, the characteristics of hole expanding limit($\lambda$) of TP steel and F+B steel were higher than that of DP steel. These mechanical properties of tri-phase steel have been improved, because bainite could be deformed easily within ferrite matrix. The effect of bainite on ductility in tri-phase steel has been found to be favorable. In this experiment, tri-phase steel contained within 27% bainite volume fraction had good nechanical properties and superior stretch-flangeability.
The purpose of this study was to develop an integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs and to examine its possible effects by analyzing musical expression ability, language expression ability and creativity. In order to verify the effect of the program developed in the study, 68 4-year old preschoolers were selected from 2 preschools to be divided into an experimental group and a control group. The experimental group was given the integrated music education program 16 times in total (two times a week for 8 weeks). The data were analyzed by t-test. The results of this study were : First, it was found that the integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs had a positive effect on children's musical expression ability and linguistic expression ability. Second, it was found that the integrated early childhood music education program using storytelling songs had a positive influence among the sub-areas of creativity.
Study was conducted to investigate the optimum amount of nitrogen fertilizer for the green forage production of Italian ryegrass at the paddy field after rice harvesting in southern part of Korea in 1987 and 1988. Effects of three levels of nitrogen fertilizer application (15, 30 and 45 kg N/10a) on the green yield and nitrate content of green forage at three cutting times (April 30, May 20 and June 10) were examined in 1988. The results were as follows. 1. Yield of green forage at all cutting times increased in order of 45 > 30 > 15 kg N/10a, and it increased about 14 percent in the 45 kg N/10a and decreased about 35 percent in the 15 kg N/10a compared with the 30 kg N/10a. 2. Nitrate content in the green forage at all cutting times was high with increasing amount of nitrogen fertilizer and with decreasing ratio of K/(Ca+Mg) in green forage. The nitrate content at the second and the third cutting times in the 45 kg N/10a might be outrunned the tentative limitation for cattle. 3. Maximum amount of nitrogen fertilizer was 48 kg/10a for total green forage production, but it was 38 kg/10a near at cattle's harmful limit of nitrate content in green forage.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of maternal parenting efficacy and emotional expression on infant's social emotional development. Methods: The subjects of this study were 269 infants and their mothers who attended day care centers in G district of S city and the data was collected by survey. The collected data were analyzed by frequency analysis, t-test and ANONA test using SPSS 16.0 program, $Scheff{\acute{e}}$ test by post test, correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis. Results: First, parenting efficacy, emotional expressiveness, and social emotional development of infants showed differences according to age, participation time, and academic background. Parenting efficacy showed a significant difference in age and parenting time, and emotional expressiveness showed significant difference in education and parenting time. Infant's social emotional development showed a significant difference in educational attainment and parenting time. Second, maternal parenting efficacy and emotional expressiveness were found to have an influence on infant's social emotional development. Conclusion/Implications: Maternal parenting efficacy and emotional expressiveness seem to influence the development of social emotions in infants, and these results suggest that, in order to grow the children healthy in social, emotional aspect, various education programs which could improve parenting efficacy and positive emotional expression are necessary.

This study proposed the ubiquitous learning system by finding the difficulties which students have in learning the course of science and analyzing the current learning applications that are used commercially. Through case studies, we found 4 problems. First, the request of long learning time by most of the existing video-based learning applications. Second, it is impossible to know their level of learning due to the lack of open learning contents. Third, it is difficult for learners to participate in interactive learning. Fourth, there are educational contents without considerations on the level of learners. To refine the difficulties due to these problems, we designed and implemented a new ubiquitous learning system which applies the small learning contents for short-term learning, open learning system and enhanced hierarchical learning contents. The system was implemented based on Android. It provides learners with useful science education. We conducted a questionnaire for third grade middle school students in order to show that the proposed system has a good educational effects. The questionnaire asks for the differences between the proposed ubiquitous learning system and the existing learning application. We concluded that the proposed system is better than the existing application by using t-test for improvement of learning effects using feedback with which students participate in interactive learning but not in unidirectional learning, and share the learning result.
This study analyzes the effects of global diversification level on discretion accruals and firm value. In order to verify the hypothesis of this study, the sample of securities companies was selected from 2012 to 2015, and the final sample is 2,139 firm-year. The results of this paper are as follows : First, discretionary accruals increased as the diversification level increased. We conducted an additional analysis as to whether the increase in information asymmetry due to international diversification affects discretionary accruals. As a result, the increase of information asymmetry due to international diversification increased discretionary accruals. This analysis is consistent with EI Mehdi and Seboui(2001)'s study. Second, we analyze the impact of international diversification on corporate value. In previous studies, there was no consistent conclusion about the relationship between international diversification and firm value(Christophe and Pfeiffer, 2002; Denis and Vost, 2002; Bodnar and Wenintrop, 1997; Bodnar et al., 2003). Therefore, this study hypothesizes that the increase in discretionary accruals, which have been driven by international diversification, will have an impact on firm value. Aa a result of the analysis, we found that the increase in discretionary accruals due to diversification declines the firm value. This means that the increase in discretionary accruals due to diversification is utilized as and opportunistic means by taking individual gain of managers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of elementary science instruction applying a Brain-Based Evolutionary (ABC-DEF) approach using Rapid-cycling Brassica rapa (RcBr) on the interests of elementary school students. For this study, two elementary school classes in Seoul and one elementary school class in Gyeonggi-do were selected. Comparison group received instruction using textbook and teacher's guidebook. A class taught using only brain-based evolutionary approach is experimental group A, and a class taught through brain-based evolutionary approach using RcBr is experimental group B. In order to analyze the quantitative differences about the interests of students, three kinds of test were administered to the students: 'Applied Unit-Related Interests', 'Follow-up Interests' and 'Interests in the observation material'. To get more information, qualitative data such as portfolios and interviews were analyzed. The major findings are as follows. First, for the test of applied unit-related interests, a statistically significant difference was found between comparison group and experimental group A, and between comparison group and experimental group B. As the results of interviews, the students have shown that the intensified exploration activities on plant in Brain-Based Evolutionary approach applied to experimental groups A and B had a positive effect. Second, for test of follow-up interests, we classified the students' follow-up interests into three types: extended-developed-deepened (EDD) type, simply expanded-maintained (SEM) type, and stopped or decreased (SD) type. Both experimental group A and experimental group B showed the highest percentage of EDD. Also, observation journal applying the evolutionary process (DEF) showed a positive effect on the students' interest. Comparison group showed the highest percentage of SEM. Third, for test of applied interests in the observation material, a statistically significant difference was found between comparison group and experimental group A, and comparison group and experimental group B. Experimental group B using RcBr showed the highest average score, while experimental group A showed a higher score than comparison group. Based on these findings, educational implications of Brain-Based Evolutionary approach and using RcBr are discussed.
We compared the hypoglycemic effects of Ginseng Radix Alba (GRA) and Mori Folium (MF) in multiple low dose (MLD) streptozotocin(STZ)-induced diabetic rats. In order to induce hyperglycemic state 25 mg/kg of STZ was injected intraperitoneally for 5 consecutive days. SD rats were randomly divided into diabetic control and treatment groups. Treatment groups were administered with either 500 mg/kg of GRA (G500), 500 mg/kg of MF (M500), or 250 mg/kg of GRA mixed with same dose of MF (GM250) for 3 weeks. Blood glucose level and body weight were measured every 5th day. G500 and M500 both significantly reduced blood glucose levels as compared to the diabetic control group (diabetic control, 458.3$\pm$25.4 mg/dl; G500, 275.0$\pm$12.0; M500, 278.0$\pm$15.4; GM250, 324.0$\pm$18.4). While body weight in diabetic control group was decreased slightly after 3 weeks, treatment groups showed gradual increases of body weight during 3 week-period. Plasma insulin level was increased by treatment with GRA, but those levels in M500 and GM250 groups were similar to the diabetic control (normal control, 32.0$\pm$13.9 $\mu$IU/mι; diabetic control, 12.4$\pm$1.9; G500, 17.5$\pm$3.4; M500, 11.1$\pm$3.2; GM250, 10.5$\pm$t3.7). Urine glucose levels were also remarkably reduced in all treatment groups (normal control, 0.0$\pm$0.0 g/day; diabetic control, 11.4$\pm$2.5; G500, 4.9$\pm$0.2; M500, 5.7$\pm$1.6 ; GM250, 8.2$\pm$0.2). At the second and third week of the treatment, food and water intakes were determined. At the third week, food and water intakes were significantly decreased in all treatment groups. Taken together, we may conclude that GRA and MF alone may prevent or delay the development of hyperglycemia, however, synergistic hypoglycemic activity was not be seen in group treated with mixed formula of GRA and MF when compared to GRA or MF alone.
The purpose of this study was to develop the level-defferentiated Web Based Instruction(WBI) program, to examine its effects on the science achievement self-directed learning characteristics, and the students’ perceptions on the WBI learning. For this purpose, the advanced and complementary WBI program of level-differentiated curriculum was developed to adapt to class fields and examine instruction facilitating efficiency. Designed and developed the WBI program make it possible to teach students according to the level-differentiated learning for the chapter, ‘weather and climate’ in high school science curriculum. The results of this study are as follows: First, level-differentiated WBI was effective to encourage self-concept, learning eagerness, future-oriented self-apprehension, creativity, self-assessment of the student’s self-directed teaming characteristics. There was no interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability at the self-directed learning characteristics. Second, the scores of science achievement of WBI group were significantly higher than those of conventional lecture group. There was interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability. However level-differentiated WBI has no effect on openness, initiative, responsibility of the student’s self-directed learning characteristics. There was interaction effect of treatment and students’ learning ability at the science achievement, Third, in the perception questionnaire of WBI teaming, many students showed the WBI teaming was good in terms of causing interaction between learners and web based learning materials including various images and animations. However there are several students who showed learning difficulties. For example they wonder which part is more important and what order is proper to study in hypertext environment.
