  • Much researches have studied for seamless mobility service. Those focused on minimizing the delay time due to the handover. In this paper, we suggest seamless mobility service with the network-based preemptive operations. With these operations, if it's found that the MT(Mobile Terminal)'s handover using L2-trigger event, old access network buffers the delivering data. Therefore this can decrease the data drop rates. And also, this can deal with the ping-pong's phenomenon of MT. At the end of MT's movement, these operations can provide seamless mobility service sending buffered data after checking the MT's movement. This mechanism uses MPLS-LSP(MultiProtocol Label Switching-Label Switched Path) in core network for fast process.

  • This paper proposes a path prediction-based seamless handover scheme to minimize service disruption and packet loss due to handovers for mobile networks such as Dams. This scheme exploits a peculiar characteristics of trains which move on a predetermined path. The mobile router on the train can predict a handover point and then perform network-layer handover before link-layer handover occurs. This leads to the reduction of handover latency and packet loss during handovers. The performance evaluation showed that the proposed scheme could provide excellent performance, compared with the NEMO basic support scheme.

  • To provide IPTV service over mobile networks, the mechanism that reduce packet loss and interrupt of multimedia service during the handover should be supported. Especially, buffering based mechanism is preferable for supporting IPTV services in the way of preserving streaming service using stored data and recovering non-received data after handover. But previous research doesn't consider the buffer allocation for applying various environments which can change handover time or end to end delay of relay node. This paper propose DBAHAJ mechanism that optimize buffer size of mobile nodes and relay node for supporting seamless IPTV service over mobile environments. Mobile node determines buffer size by checking handover time and maximum difference of sequence to keep playing video data. And multicast agent recovers packet loss during the handover by sending buffered data. By these two procedure, node supports seamless IPTV service on mobile networks. We confirm performance of this mechanism on NS-2 simulator.

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive handover scheme in wireless network. The proposed handover scheme is a hybrid type of virtual path extension and rerouting. The proposed handover scheme chooses the virtual path management scheme according to the service QoS instead of the network topology which is used in the previous hybrid handover schemes. The proposed scheme supports the seamless service and small buffering during virtual path rerouting handover through the multicasting service. To evaluate the performance of the proposed scheme, we computed the number of signaling message used for handover and perform computer simulation. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme provides more efficiency in the handover delay and seamless service than the previous methods.

  • The existing protocols proposed in network mobility (NEMO) environment can require many computational costs and can bring about a delay of binding update. To solve these problems, in this paper we propose an authentication protocol supporting secure seamless handover in NEMO environment. The proposed protocol can handle quickly mutual authentication between a mobile router (MR) and an access router (AR), which uses group key among ARs and a master key (MK) issuing from key issuing server (KIS) for reducing the time of binding update as much as possible. In performance, the proposed protocol can process quickly binding update with little computational cost comparison with the existing binding update protocols and it results in robustness against existing attacks.

  • This paper proposes a multihoming-based vertical handover scheme using Proxy binding update to minimize handover delay and packet loss while a mobile node moves to a heterogeneous access network. When a mobile node moves to a heterogeneous access network, the proposed scheme can provide a mobile node with fast and seamless handover by performing layer-3 handover using its new interface while the other interface is still communicating in the old access network. The proposed Proxy binding update is different from the Mobile IP binding update in that it includes home addres (HoA) of the old interface instead of the new interface. The performance analysis shows that the proposed scheme can efficiently reduce vertical handover delay and packet loss.

  • DVB-H(Digital Video Broadcasting for Handhold) is a new standard, currently being developed, which defines mobile enhancements for the DVB-T (DVB-Terrestrial) standard. For the reception of service via mobile handheld devices, seamless mobility and power saving are essential requirements of DVB-H. For seamless handover, the receiver should monitor neighboring cells and it increases the power consumption. And so, power efficient handover scheme to support both mobility and power saving is required. In this paper, we propose power efficient handover scheme to reduce power consumption by reducing the number of frequency scanning during the handover. Through the numerical evaluation, we analyze the performance of handover schemes.

  • In this paper, we propose a handover scheme for seamless mobile multicast service in next generation access networks. For this, we drew optimum handover scheme when applying MIP(mobile IP), FMIP(Fast MIP), HMIP(Heterogeneous MIP), PMIP(Proxy MIP) to XG-PON1. And, we analyze handover scheme for seamless mobile multicast service in XG-PON1. The prosed handover scheme remove tunnel convergence and reduces handover delay, packet delivery cost.

  • In order to provide the Mobile Stations operating in IEEE 802.11 Wireless LAN network with seamless handover, a comprehensive study on the functions of handover considering various networking environments and characteristics of Mobile Stations is required. Note that the channel scan process finding a new AP takes the major portion of handover time, and this is the most significant issue with seamless handover for real-time multimedia service in WLAN environment. In this paper the functions required to provide seamless handover in IEEE 802.11 WLAN network are identified, and a new scanning technique is proposed with which the Mobile Stations can selectively scan the channels to reduce the channel scan time in various network environments. Here each Mobile Station awares of the channels the neighbor APs are using by scanning them in advance according to the proposed technique. Afterwards, when handover is actually required, the optimal AP is decided quickly by scanning only the predetemined group of channels and order of scan without unnecessary scan of all the channels. In addition, proposes to enter the Scan Trigger Value and Handover Threshold Value in mobile phones in order to prevent the phenomenon can not handover.

  • Most of the current mobility management protocols such as MIPv4/6 and its variants standardized by the IETF do not support global seamless handover. This is because they require comprehensive changes of the existing network infrastructure. In this article, we propose a simple mobility management protocol (SMMP) which can support global seamless handover between homogeneous or heterogeneous wireless networks. The idea is that the SMMP employs separate location management function as done in SIP to support global user and service mobility. In addition, the bidirectional tunnels are dynamically constructed to support seamless IP mobility by extending the IEEE 802.21 MIH standards. The detailed architecture and functions of the SMMP have been designed. Finally, the simulation results, using NS-2, show that the proposed SMMP outperforms the existing MIPv6 and HMIPv6 in terms of handover latency, packet loss, pear signal noise ratio (PSNR).
