Impurity profiling analysis of methamphetamine seized in Korea was investigated for the evidential and intelligent purpose. Samples were extracted with ethylacetate which contai ns internal standard of dioctylsebacate under basic condition and extracts were analyzed by GC-FID. Ephedrine, chloroephedrine & 1,2-dimethyl-3-phenylaziridine were identified impurities in illicit methamphetamine by GC-MS. These impurities revealed that most of abused methamphetamine in Korea were synthesized from ephedrine as a starting material. For the classification of samples. firstly, 24 impurity peaks were selected after inspection of every peak in 50 samples as the specific markers of impurities. Secondly, corresponding peak retention time and area ratio to the internal standard were calculated and database was created with values of 24 peaks by in-house program. Finally, cluster analysis was attempted with the resultant profiles using the STAR plot, which was based on the Euclidian distance for evaluating similarity among samples. A total of 76 samples were divided into 8 different groups within 90% statistical similarity and inter-batch samples showed similar impurity patterns by this procedure. In conclusion, the analysis of impurities is a suitable index for estimation the common or different origin of methamphetamine sample.
Woolen tapestry curtains possessed by the Seoul Museum of Craft Art were used to hung on the wall or used for carpets in the winter season in the late Joseon dynasty. Since similar artifacts were only used for the curtain as functional aspects, woolen tapestry curtains were a rare case. In this study, scientific analysis on the accessory ornament of woolen tapestry curtains such as components of metal accessories and frame bar were conducted with the microscope, p-XRF, and SEM. Result of frame bar pigments, organic pigments such as ink stick were likely been used in woolen tapestry curtain 1. In woolen tapestry 2, lead red (Minium) was used in the frame bar. The result of metal parts, copper, and zinc were analyzed by p-XRF. This suggests that metal accessories were crafted using brass. Frame bar of woolen tapestry curtain 2 was made of soft pine (Pinus spp.) analyzed with the scanning electron microscope. Artifacts like woolen tapestry curtains are rare in Korea and scientific analysis databases were scarce, so it is important to construct components analysis data of woolen tapestry curtains. It is expected that additional scientific analysis and interpretation on the artifact's crafting technique can be merged with the analytical data gathered in this study to be utilized on the conservation and restoration of not only woolen curtains but curtain artifacts of the late Joseon dynasty in general.
An analysis of the railroad industry for R&D investments has been insufficient whereas there are lots of analysis of accumulation of technology, economic performances and ripple effects for macroscopic view and other industry of R&D investments. This study decided intellectual rights, patent, and paper as common indicators of scientific and technological performances for setting up performance targets through surveying and analysis of preceding study and verified a appropriateness of scientific and technological performances for railroad R&D 11 projects which were successfully finished. Preceding study has been set up performance targets by research investments as input, but this study made a performance target by model through a cross-sectional and residual analysis of performances of railroad R&D 11 Projects in applying research investments, capital investments, inner labor cost and inner labor cost per man and research time as inputs, and verified a validity and a empirical analysis through analysis of other project.
The majority of forensic autopsies in Korea are performed by the National Institute of Scientific Investigation (NISI), and the NISI has carried out about 4,000 cases annually. Total 4,578 autopsies were performed by NISI in 2009, among them 2,918 cases (64%) were carried out at main office of NISI in Seoul, which is in charge of Seoul, Incheon and Gyeonggi province. In this study we investigated pattern of drugs & poisons in autopsy cases for recent three years in Korea. Postmortem specimens (bloods, gastric contents, etc) from autopsy cases by main office of NISI during 2007~2009 were screened for drugs & poisons. Using laboratory information management system of NISI (iLIMS), the kinds of drugs & poisons and the frequency were investigated. As the results, 1,705 cases were negative to drugs & poisons, it occupied 58% of total 2,918 autopsy cases in 2009. During three years (2007~2009), the kinds of drugs & poisons detected in specimens were 206, 185 and 203, respectively, and top three drugs were atropine (anticholinergic), chlorpheniramine (antihistamine) and lidocaine (local anaesthetic/anti-arrythmic). These drugs were supposed to be used not so much for suicidal or homicidal purpose as for therapeutic purpose in hospital. Meanwhile cyanide showed the highest frequency of poisons during 2007~2009, and the frequency was 32 cases in 2009. In case of pesticides, poisoning by paraquat (herbicide, 17 cases) showed the highest frequency, and methomyl (insecticide, 9 cases) and glyphosate (herbicide, 7 cases) were followed. Finally we selected 62 drugs as target drugs for systematic toxicological analysis (STA) for Korea. Poisons such as pesticides, natural toxins, volatile compounds should be included for STA in further study.
The present study tested the hypothesis that maturation of the prefrontal lobes is a crucial factor determining the performance of scientific reasoning tasks, Functions of the prefrontal lobes, such as activating relevant information, sequential planning and monitoring, and inhibiting irrelevant information, are related thinking patterns with scientific reasoning. Therefore, we inferred the idea that the prefrontal lobes play an important role in scientific reasoning. To test the hypothesis. the present study investigated a prefrontal lobe patient's task solving procedures in scientific reasoning tasks and the correlation and regression analysis between a test of prefrontal lobe function and two scientific reasoning tasks, The perseverative errors in the Wisconsin Card Sorting Test(WCST) was used as a measure of the prefrontal lobe function, The Melinark Type Task and the Classroom Test of Scientific Reasoning were used as measures of scientific reasoning abilities. Ages and Group Embedded Figure Test were also used as measures of two alternative hypotheses, general maturation and field independency respectively. The prefrontal lobe patient showed a crucial deficiency in solving scientific reasoning tasks. In the tasks, the patient could not used the reasoning of If... and... then... therefore pattern. In correlation study, the perseveration errors of the WCST showed a significantly negative correlation with two scientific reasoning tasks. Multiple regression study also showed that the perseveration errors measured as a function of the prefrontal lobes have more contribution to scientific reasoning ability than contributions of alternative hypotheses. Therefore, the present study supported the hypothesis that prefrontal lobes play a crucial role in scientific reasoning ability, What function of the prefrontal lobes do play crucial role in scientific reasoning? The present study provided an explanation for the question, which inhibiting ability of the prefrontal lobes is responsible for the scientific reasoning ability, in a part at least. That is, perseverative tendency in task-solving procedures causes a deficiency of an ability to inhibit the wrong information to solve a task. The present study provided a possibility of neuropsychological approach in science education research. The present study also showed an importance of the prefrontal lobe development in the performance of scientific reasoning task.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the attitudes toward science and support for scientific activities of the scientific gifted students' parents and the general students' parents in elementary school. The objects of the study were 99 scientific gifted students and their parents and 433 general elementary school students and their parents. The instruments for the measurement of attitudes toward science included three scales: cognition :About value of science, affection toward science and science learning, and cognitive participation in scientific activities. The instrument to measure parents' support for scientific activities included two scales: indirect support and direct support. The results of the study showed that the attitudes toward science of scientific gifted elementary students' parents were more positive than the attitudes toward science of general elementary students' parents. Also the gifted elementary students' parents supported many more scientific activities for their children with various methods than the general elementary students' parents. Their preferring support methods for scientific activities included 16 items including the collection of information about science education, the record of TV science programs, purchase of scientific books, subscription of periodical publication about science, preparing material for scientific activities, and reading scientific book with children.
The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of emotional intelligence and achievement goal orientation on career maturity for elementary scientific gifted students. For this purpose, emotional intelligence test, achievement goal orientation measure and career maturity test were used. Sample of the study was consisted of 107 science gifted students and 98 general students in Y City, Gyeonggi Province. The results of this study were as follows. First, scientific gifted students showed higher score than general students, whereas general students had highest score in type of avoidance goal orientation of achievement goal orientation. Also, scientific gifted students showed highest score in mastery goal orientation of those. Second, the correlation between emotional intelligence and career maturity of scientific gifted students showed significantly positive score in almost all the subelements. As a result of conducting a regression analysis on the influence of emotional intelligence on career maturity of scientific gifted students, job planning and self-understanding of career maturity were impacted by emotional intelligence, whereas independence was low influence by emotional intelligence. Third, for the correlation between achievement goal orientation and career maturity of scientific gifted students, mastery goal orientation of achievement goal orientation had positive relationship in almost all the subelements, whereas mastery avoidance goal orientation and performance-avoidance goal orientation had negative correlation. Also, as a result of conducting a regression analysis on the influence of achievement goal orientation on career maturity of scientific gifted students, achievement goal orientation had influence on all the subelements of career maturity.
This study aims to analyse the relationship between multiple intelligence and scientific creativity of science-gifted elementary students focusing on the subject of biology. For this, 37 science-gifted fifth-graders in the Science-Gifted Education Center at an Office of Education conducted a multiple intelligence test. In addition, researchers collected science-gifted students' results of scientific creativity activity at the botanical garden field trip. The main findings from this study are as follows: First, strong intelligence was logical-mathematical intelligence for gifted students, and weak intelligence was found to be naturalistic intelligence for them. Second, there was no significant correlation in the relationship between multiple intelligence and scientific creativity of science-gifted students. Third, as a result of independent two sample t-test for each intelligence and scientific creativity scores divided into the upper and lower groups, only verbal-linguistic intelligence statistically differed significantly at the level of p<.05 (t=2.13, df=35, p=0.04). Fourth, as a result of conducting a two-way analysis to see if there were any interaction effects, verbal-linguistic and visual-spatial, logical-mathematical and visual-spatial, logical-mathematical and bodily-kinesthetic, and visual-spatial and musical-rhythmic intelligence all showed significant values at the level of p<.05 level in interaction effects on originality element comprising scientific creativity. Fifth, an analysis of students with high naturalistic intelligence showed that their scores of scientific creativity tasks conducted at the botanical garden field trip were all lower. Based on the results of this study, this study discussed the implications of scientific creativity learning linking multiple intelligence in primary science education and gifted education.
The purpose of this study was getting the information for successful application to the national curriculum and students' core competencies enhancement, through investigation about competencies discussed in 2015 revised national curriculum development process and analysis about perception of 150 elementary school teachers in study. On elementary school teachers' awareness, inquiry model is the most effective in enhancing of scientific thinking and the ability of inquiry performance. And STS instruction model is in the other. PBL learning model and experimental inquiry model is the most effective in enhancing a competency has the highest feasibility like scientific thinking or the ability of inquiry performance.
Korea has good mutual relations with Russia and China in many fields, not just in science and technology, but also in trade. That is, it stands on a point of time in which an epoch-making turning point for mutual interests could be realized depending on how to join Russia's high technology with Korea's industrial technology with capital, or how to connect Korean -Chinese mutual concern and each other's advanced technology. The purpose of this study is to present scientific and technical information management policy for efficient su n.0, pport for technical cooperation with Russia and China. Bearing this purpose in mind, the concept of technical cooperation along with scientific and technical information management policy was closely examined. The correlation between the progress of technology and the type of scientific and technical information was examined, while the flow of scientific and technical information accompanying technical cooperation was studied. The methodology adopted for this study includes document research, empirical analysis and fact-finding survey. For document research, the writer analyzed the contents of scientific and technical information managing operations and the types of information to be utilized in the course of technical cooperation by examining domestic and foreign documents on international technical cooperation. For empirical analysis, the contents of actual results of scientific and technical information managing operations for technical cooperation with Russia and China were put in order and analyzed, while contents of survey conducted by organizations related to these countries for technical cooperation were synthesized and examined for fact -finding survey.
