The aims of this study were to identify the significant predictors of the sexual behavior of middle school students. The subjects consisted of 603 middle school students (male 344, female 259). The data was collected through self-report questionnaires, which were constructed to include the attitudes to sexual behavior, sexual permissiveness, perceived behavioral control, sexual behavioral intention, father's child-rearing attitudes, mother's child-rearing attitudes, friends' attitudes to sex, exposure to pornography, and sexual behavior. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 19.0 program. The significant predictors of sexual behavior of middle school students that explained 51.0% of the variance in sexual behavior were the friends' attitudes to sex, alcohol drinking experience, experience of sexual abuse, sexual permissiveness, exposure to pornography, sexual behavioral intention, perceived behavioral control, father's child-rearing attitudes, and mother's child-rearing attitudes. These findings suggest that the approach to a sexual education promotion program for middle school students should consider multisystemic predictors.

The purpose of this study was to investigate how extracurricular science club activities affect sciencerelated attitudes of female elementary school students. The experimental group was organised with thirty female elementary school students selected from a school in a small city and two schools in a town at Jeju special selfgoverning province. The students were encouraged to participate in a variety of scientific experiences and inquiry activities for ten months. The control group consisted of another thirty girl students chosen from the same schools. The pre-test and post-test on science-related attitudes were administered to both the experimental and control groups. The result of this study shows that meaningful changes have been observed in science-related attitudes of the experimental group, whereas the control group reveals no meaningful changes. Science-related attitudes have been analyzed in three categories such as cognition, interests, scientific attitude. The experimental group shows meaningful changes in all of the three categories, while the control group shows no change in any category. When the female students from small city and those from the town were separated, the result shows that the latter shows more positive changes in science-related attitudes through science club activities than the former.

The purpose is to explore elementary students' attitudes towards money and the effects of parents' educational involvement on children's economic behaviors. The subjects are elementary students(N= 123) from first grade to sixth grade. The survey consists of question items of money ethics, attitudes towards money, consumer ethics, parents' attitudes toward economic education, and children's economic practices such as management of allowance, income, saving and savings account. The results are as follows: first, the elementary students show the double standard in attitudes to money, thinking of money as positively being important, at the same time, as being negative social value. Second, the parents play positive models in children's economic education. However, their efforts are not enough so that their children could have desirable economic habits. Therefore, economic education is first needed for the parents and then for children.
This study investigated the structural relationships between parental attitude, social support, self-esteem, and levels of adjustment to school life of children from multicultural families. Participants were 177 elementary school children from multicultural families in 1st to 6th grade of elementary school in the Daegu-Gyeongbuk area of South Korea. The major findings were as follows. 1) Parenting attitude, social support, and self-esteem had direct effects on levels of children's adjustment to school life. 2) Parental attitudes and social support had direct effects on children's levels of self-esteem. 3) Parental attitudes and social support also had indirect effects on levels of adjustment to school life of these children. This study suggested that various concern and supports from multi level of society are required to improve adjustment to school life in children from multicultural families.

The purposes of this study were: 1) to investigate four aspects of high school students' clothing attitudes as compared with their needs and family value orientations. 2) to ascertain whether differences existed between toys and girls on four aspects of clothing attitudes. Needs were measured through The Need Diagnosis Scale (Jaung-Ku Whang: 1965). Family value orientations were measured through The Home Environment Inventory(Won-Sik Jung : 1970). Four aspects of clothing attitudes were assessed by means of Lee; Kahng; Lee; Yang's questionnaires. The questionnaires were administered to a sample of 576 senior high school students(285 boys and 291 girls) in Won-Ju. The data was analyzed by correlations, multiple regression, t-test. The results were as follows : 1) Need for exhibition was positively related to clothing exhibition and fashion interest for both boys and girls, and clothing conformity for boys only. Need for exhibition was negatively related to clothing modesty for boys only. Need for affiliation was positively related to clothing exhibition for both boys and girls, fashion for girls only, and clothing conformity for boys only. 2) Social climber family value orientation was positively related to clothing conformity and clothing modesty for boys only. Materialistic family value orientation was positively related to clothing exhibition. Traditional family value orientation was positively related to clothing modesty for both boys and girls, and negatively related to clothing exhibition. 3) Girls scored significantly higher than boys on attitudes toward fashion and clothing modesty, whereas boys scored significantly higher than girls on attitudes toward clothing conformity.
This study investigated the correlations among the health consciousness, nutrition knowledge, dietary habits and nutrition attitudes of school teachers. The subjects of this study were 75 male and 152 female leachers in elementary and middle schools in Masan city. The survey was conducted by using a questionnaire. Even though the average body mass index (BMI) and the obesity index were normal in both male and female subjects, 33.3% of the male subjects were overweight/obese, while 18.5% of the female subjects were underweight, according to the obesity index. The food components of most concern during mealtime were (in order of importance) salt, MSG and cholesterol by male subjects, and salt, fat and MSG by female subjects. The subjects considered self-relaxation as the most important factor in maintaining optimal health status, followed by resting, bathing or use ova sauna, moderation in diet, exercise, decreasing alcohol intake, and no smoking. Newspapers/magazines and TV/radio were the primary sources of nutrition and health information of the subjects. As the degree of health consciousness increased, scores of the dietary habits and nutrition attitudes increased. Nutrition knowledge scores and nutrition altitudes scores increased with subjects'increased level of perception of the importance of acquiring nutrition knowledge and nutrition information. There was a highly significant correlation between the degree of health consciousness and dietary habit score (${\gamma}$ : 0.3, p<0.001). The degree of health consciousness was also significantly correlated (${\gamma}$=0.6, p<0.001) with nutrition attitudes scores. But the correlation between the degree of health consciousness and nutrition knowledge was not statistically significant. The degree of the perception of the importance of nutrition knowledge showed a positive correlation with nutrition attitude (${\gamma}$:0.4, p<0.001) and dietary habit (${\gamma}$:0.3, p<0.001). The degree of perception about the importance of nutrition knowledge and nutrition information was positively correlated with nutrition knowledge (${\gamma}$:0.2, p<0.001) and nutrition attitudes (${\gamma}$:0.3, p<0.001).
This paper is a descriptive study that aims to investigate attitudes towards menstruation, symptoms and coping behaviors in order to develop a program for building positive attitudes toward menstruation in primary school students. The mean age of menarche was 12.3 years, and students generally showed negative attitudes towards menstruation. Students who experienced menarche had relatively more positive attitudes than those who did not. However, no significant difference was exhibited. Menstrual symptoms occurred rarely or at a moderate level by showing a low score of 2.12 points. Of all sub-factors, 'pain' was the most serious. The most common coping behaviors during menstruation was 'I take a warm shower' and 'I take a rest or nap', while respondents rarely checked 'I take vitamin B supplements' and 'I take painkiller'. Based on the above findings, the study intends to perform a systematic study to further identify the factors affecting menstrual attitudes in primary school students. In addition, this paper suggests effective healthcare education on menstruation to build positive attitudes towards menstruation and education and counseling programs for adopting appropriate coping strategies to deal with menstrual symptoms.
The purpose of this study was to examine female consumers' attitudes and purchase intentions toward intimate apparel brands. To understand female consumers' shopping behaviors for intimate apparel products, this study examined interrelationships among brand familiarity, perceived risk, attitudes, and purchase intentions toward intimate apparel brands. A conceptual model was developed by adopting perceived risk theory (Cox, 1967) and theory of reasoned action (Ajzen & Fishbein, 1980). A pre-survey using a paper and pencil was conducted to identify the most familiar intimate apparel brand to young female consumers. The majority of pre-survey respondents (66 female college students) indicated Victoria's Secret as the most prominent intimate apparel brand. Therefore, Victoria's Secret was used to examine possible effects of brand familiarity on perceived risk and attitudinal and behavioral responses toward the brand. Using a web-based survey, 384 complete responses were collected from young female college students between the ages of 18-29 at a Mid-southern U.S. university. A structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed research model and hypotheses. Results showed positive, statistically significant associations among the four variables (e.g., brand familiarity, perceived risk, attitudes, and purchase intentions). The findings suggested that young female consumers who are familiar with a particular intimate apparel brand are likely to perceive a low level of risk, leading to positive, strong attitudes with purchase intentions toward that particular intimate apparel brand. This suggests establishing brand familiarity through integrated marketing communication is crucial for risk reduction strategy in intimate apparel shopping.

The purpose of this study was to assess the adolescents' perceptions of AIDS by reviewing the research findings on adolescents' knowledge and attitudes about AIDS, and to provide basic data for the development of AIDS prevention education program. Literature for the analysis was searched by using the terms 'AIDS', 'HIV', 'Adolescent', 'Student'. Finally, 17 articles from Korea and 3 from abroad were analysed. Major conclusions were as follows: 1. For the knowledge level of AIDS, most of the adolescents knew the definition, high risk group, and infection rout of AIDS. On the contrary, the knowledge level of the treatment of AIDS was low. 2. For the attitudes toward AIDS, the level of perceived severity was high. But the level of perceived susceptibility found to be low. Middle and high school students showed more positive attitudes toward AIDS patients than college students. Attitudes toward AIDS prevention education program were positive, but taking the blood test for the detection of AIDS was negative. 3. The experience rates of AIDS Education were ranged from 13.6% to 60%. Major channel for getting AIDS information were TV, newspaper and radio. The experience rates of sexual intercourse were ranged from 4% to 48.3%. The intention of using condom was 66.7%, but the rate of condom use was 38.4%. AIDS infection rates have been increasing rapidly among teens in recent years. Therefore, It is urgent to identify the determinants affecting AIDS related perception and preventive behavior, and to develop the prevention program for AIDS.
