  • In this paper, a numerical method to be obtain the radar cross section(RCS) of three- dimensional bodies with arbitrary geometry and material compositions on the electromagnetic field with arbitrary incident angle is described. The RCS is obtained by solving the individual surface integral equation about multilayers scatterer using the three-dimensional bonudary element method(BEM). To show propriety and usefulness as to the three-dimensional BEM in this paper, the choice of a geometry is a multi-regular hexahedron and multi-right-angled hexahedron out of oblique incident electric field, and is considered to apply to every condition with loss sufficiently.

  • A new method is presented for the isolation of resonances from scattered waves for elastic wave resonance scattering problems. The resonance scattering function consisting purely of resonance information is defined. Elastic wave resonance scattering from a water-filled cylindrical cavity imbedded in an aluminum matrix is numerically analyzed. The classical resonance scattering theory and the new method compute different magnitudes and phases of the resonances from each partial wave, and therefore. their total resonance spectra are quite different. The exact $\pi$ - radians phase shifts through the resonance and anti-resonance frequencies show that the proposed method properly extracts the vibrational resonance information of the scatterer compared to resonance scattering theory.

  • In recent years, subsidence due to excessive groundwater withdrawal is a major problem in the Kathmandu Basin. In addition, on 25 April 2015, the basin experienced large crustal displacements caused by Mw 7.8 Gorkha earthquake. In this study, we applied StaMPS- Persistent Scatterer InSAR (StaMPS PS-InSAR) technique to estimate the spatio-temporal displacements in the basin after the mainshock. 34 Sentinel-1 C-band SAR data are used for measuring subsidence velocity during 2015-2017. We found the maximum subsidence velocity of about 9.02 cm/year and mean subsidence rate of about 8.06 cm/year in the line of sight direction, respectively, in the central part of the basin.

  • This study aims to monitor the displacement of the bridges using Stanford Method for Persistent Scatterers (StaMPS) time-series Persistent Scatterer Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar analysis. For case study bridges: Kimdaejung bridge and Deokyang bridge, we acquired 60 and 33 Cosmo-Skymed Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data over the Mokpo region and Yeosu region, respectively from 2013 to 2019. With single-look interferograms, we estimated the long-term time-series displacements over the bridges. The time-series displacements were estimated as -8.8 mm/year and -1.34 mm/year at the mid-span over the selected bridges: Kimdaejung and Deokyang bridge, respectively. This time-series displacement provides reliable and high spatial resolution information to monitor the structural behavior of the bridge for preventing structural behaviors.

  • We report a novel optical structure for bottomemitting white OLEDs. The structure includes, reformulated color filter, dielectric mirror to enforce cavity resonance, and micro-scatterer to extract more light and diffuse the viewing angle dependency. With the new structure, the color gamut was 104% of that of NTSC, the combined transmission efficiency of the color filter was 83%/3 and the color shift at $45^{\circ}$ was maintained below 0.02 in the 1976 CIE color space. The color performance of White OLED + color filter system can match comparably that of RGB OLED + microcavity system.

  • The Resonance Scattering Theory(RST) provides the physical explanation of the scattered field that appears in the vicinity of the resonance frequency. The theory suggests that the amplitude of each Partial-wave mode can be divided into two components : resonance and non-resonant background. The long-standing difficulty in the application of RST is that it always requires background components. We have applied the RST to the electromagnetic scattering problems by a penetrable spherical scatterer and a cavity. In this paper, we show some numerical results, and validate background coefficients.

  • This paper presents an experimenal proof for criteria of selecting an optimum adaptive beamforming (ABF) algorithm for a large distorted phased array. A single point target embedded in clutter model is suggested to compare four well-known ABF algorithms. These algorithms are tested to low variance and high variance real data for self-calibrating a large distored phased array. It is shown that these algorithms require at least one dominant scatterer with large radar cross section (RCS) or multiple scatterers with moderate RCS in the field of view. Experimental results are provided to demonstrate the comparisons of the four algorithems in terms of gain loss and image correlaion coefficient, along with corresponding reconstructed cross-range images and range-azimuth images.

  • In this paper, we propose an efficient regularization technique (The Method of Regularized Ratios) for the reconstruction of the shape of a rigid elastic scatterer from far field measurements. The approach used is based on the factorization method and creates via Picard's condition ratios, baptized Regularized Ratios, that serve to effectively remove unwanted singular values that may lead to poor reconstructions. This is achieved through the use of a sophisticated algorithm that progressively adjusts an initially set moderate tolerance. In comparison with the well established Tikhonov-Morozov regularization techniques our new algorithm appears to be more computationally efficient as it doesn't require computation of the regularization parameter for each point in the grid.

  • Current distributions are the basis of analyzing and designing the antenna. In this paper, a method of deriving the current distribution of a spiral shaped thin wire scattere is proposed when plane wave is incident on it. The calculated results are also shown for severla spiral sizes and incidence angles selected. For numerical calculation, the method of point matching is used with a cubic B-spline function as a basis function.

  • The simulation of target-scattered echo with the moving sonar platform and target in 3-dimensional ocean environment is essential to validate and evaluate the performance of a sonar system. This paper presents the improved target signal simulation on the basis of the highlight(HL) model and its realtime algorithm. In order to simulate the scattering highlight, the highlight is represented as a directional scatterer. The realtime generation algorithm of the target signal is realized by use of DSP chip, TMS320C40, where the 40 channels are equally separated to form a parallel processing task in 4 processors. The presented realtime-version of target signal simulation can be used as a target signal simulator in the development of ACM(Acoustic Counter Measure) and advanced sonar signal processing techniques.
