This study is aiming at analyzing correlation between flashover's time and maximum smoke production rate's time on sandwich panel specimens. For this analysis, KS F ISO 137481-1 has been performed for 23 kinds of sandwich panels which mainly consist of EPS, PIR, PUR, Glass wool and so on. KS F ISO 13784-1 represents real scale reaction-to-fire test and focuses on measuring flashover phenomenon rather than other tests as like ISO 5660-1 and SBI.
The mechanical properties and failure mechanisms of through-the-thickness stitched plain weave glass fabric/polyurethane foam/epoxy composites were studied. Hybrid composites were fabricated using resin infusion process (RIP). Stitched sandwich composite increased drastically the flexural properties as compared with the unstitched fabrics. The breaking of stitching yarns was observed during the flexural test and this failure mode yielded relatively high flexural properties. Composites with stitched sandwich structure improved the mechanical properties with increasing the number of stitching yarns. From this study, it was concluded that proper combination of stitching density and types of stitching fiber is important factor for through-the-thickness stitched composite panels.
In this paper, the sandwich panel composites consisting of core material and face sheet were studied to evaluate the mechanical properties, noise level and fire resistance including flammability, smoke, and toxicity. Four types of sandwich panel were prepared using various kinds of panel and honeycomb materials. It was observed that Al honeycomb/Al skin composite materials had the excellent flatwise tensile strength and edgewise compressive strength compared with other types of composites. The flatwise compressive strength and flexural strength of Nomex honeycomb/Al skin composite were higher than those of other composites. PMI form/Al skin composite showed the higher core shear strength and facing bending strength. From the experimental results of flame resistance tests, it can be said that the phenol based skin composite has the excellent flame retardation properties, which are similar to those of the commercial skin composites.
Nonlinear forced vibration properties of three-layered plates containing graphene platelets (GPL) filled skins and an auxetic core have been inquired within the present paper. Owning reduced weight as well as reduced stiffness, rectangle-shaped auxetic cores have been frequently made from novel techniques such as additive manufacturing. Here, the rectangle shape core is amplified via the graphene-filled layers knowing that the layers possess uniform and linear graphene gradations. The rectangle shape core has the equivalent material specifications pursuant to relative density value. The sandwich plate is formulated pursuant to Kirchhoff plate theory while a numerical trend has been represented to discretize the plate equations. Next, an analytical trend has been performed to establish the deflection-frequency plots. Large deflections, core density and GPL amplification have showed remarkable impacts on dynamic response of three-layered plates.

This paper describes an experimental program to investigate the shear behavior of insulated concrete sandwich panels (CSPs) with different types of GFRP shear connector. The study included testing of 13 insulated CSP specimens with two types of surface conditions for extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation and various shapes of shear connectors. All specimens were loaded in direct shear by means of push-out and were consist of three concrete panels, two insulation layer and four rows of GFRP shear connectors. Load-relative slip between concrete panel and insulation response of CSP specimens has been established through push-out shear test. Test results indicate that the surface condition of insulation has a significant effect on the bond strength between concrete panel and insulation. The specimen used XPS foam with 10mm deep slot shows higher bond strength than those used XPS foam with meshed surface. Corrugated GFRP shear connectors show equivalent strength to grid GFRP shear connectors. Cross-sectional area and embedded length of shear connector have a notable effect on overall response and inplane shear strength of the CSP specimens.
The paper reports the characteristics of conduction heat transfer to the backside part according to the heating temperature of a composite wall in a lightweight partition used for indoor space compartments. Stud partitions, SGP partitions, sandwich panels, urethane foam panels, and glass wool panels. which are generally used as light-weight partition walls, were selected as experiment samples, and the characteristics of conduction heat transfer to the backside part as the top surface were analyzed by applying heating temperatures of $200^{\circ}C$, $300^{\circ}C$, $400^{\circ}C$, and $500^{\circ}C$ to the bottom surface for 1800 s. According to the experimental results, the maximum backside temperatures at the maximum heating temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ was $51.6^{\circ}C$, $63.6^{\circ}C$, $317.2^{\circ}C$, $124.9^{\circ}C$, and $42.2^{\circ}C$ for the stud partition, SGP partition, sandwich panel, urethane foam panel, and glass wool panel, respectively. The maximum conduction heat- transfer rates at $500^{\circ}C$ were 17.16 W, 18.39 W, 136.65 W, 14.34 W, and 5.57 W for the stud partition, SGP partition, sandwich panel, urethane foam, and glass wool panel, respectively.

Composite materials have been applied widely in interior panels of buildings and transport vehicles. Recently good fire performance and weight reduction are key issues in the fields. In the present study we investigated effects of processing parameters on the performance of honeycomb sandwich panels, especially peel strength of the panel and fire performance. The processing parameters considered were types of matrix resin, resin contents, panel cure conditions, and surface painting process conditions. The results showed that the higher resin content provides the better peel strength. Controled cure steps are also needed to obtain good pee] strength. Paint processing parameters including base putty thickness and paint drying conditions and paint thickness are important to obtain good paint adhesion and good fire performance.

This study is a trial to make a design chart of sound insulation for multiple panel. Dilatational frequency, ${\Large f}_d$ becomes a key factor for optimal design since it acts like a turning point in sound insulation performance of such panels. Hence, in tuning the ${\Large f}_d$ optimally, elastic modulus of core material and thickness of the skin panel is designated to parameters. Based on these parameter, a design chart of sound insulation for multiple panel is made. Its applicability is proved by the case study of High noise reduction panel.
Honeycomb panel has a constructive advantage because it is constructed with a honeycomb core, so it has relatively higher strength ratio to weight. Therefore honeycomb panel has been used as the light weight panels in the high-speed railway technology and high-speed ship like as cruise yachts. Also it has been used in the aircraft and aerospace industry as a structural panel because light weight structure is indispensible in that field of industry. Recently, the honeycomb panel is embossed in the viewpoints of high oil prices as the lightweight panel of the transport machine, however the sound insulation capacity of the honeycomb panel is poorer than those of uniform and another sandwich panels. In this paper a method to improving the sound absorption coefficient of a honeycomb panel Is studied by using the Helmholtz resonator. The sound absorption coefficients for some kinds of honeycomb cores are demonstrated by the normal incident absorption coefficient method.

This study deals with the performance of a simplified test apparatus for measurement of sound insulation of panels. In order to investigate its performance, results from experiment and theory of the sound transmission loss for single and double panels are compared. Comparative results show that in evaluation of the sound insulation performance, the test apparatus has a cumbersome problem at the low frequency region, i.e. below 315 ㎐, presumably because of the poor diffuse sound field in the chambers. Meanwhile at the high frequency, it shows a considerable results comparable to the theoretical prediction. One of the objective of this study that compares measured results between a real reverberation chamber and a simplified test apparatus, by using a specimen of a sandwich panel. It shows qualitatively resonable agreement from which one can find a potential to provide a design tool.
