  • When applying the MLFMM algorithm to a large scattering problem, the accuracy of the calculation of the transfer function has a crucial effect on the final simulation results. The numerical accuracy for the double integral on the unit sphere is strongly dependent on the sampling number. With an increasing the sampling points, the overall required memory and running time of the MLFMM simulation also increases. Hence, an optimal over-sampling rate for the number of the sampling points is numerically obtained, which is verified for a real large scattering problem.

  • A class imbalance problem arises when one class outnumbers the other class by a large proportion in binary data. Studies such as transforming the learning data have been conducted to solve this imbalance problem. In this study, we compared resampling methods among methods to deal with an imbalance in the classification problem. We sought to find a way to more effectively detect the minority class in the data. Through simulation, a total of 20 methods of over-sampling, under-sampling, and combined method of over- and under-sampling were compared. The logistic regression, support vector machine, and random forest models, which are commonly used in classification problems, were used as classifiers. The simulation results showed that the random under sampling (RUS) method had the highest sensitivity with an accuracy over 0.5. The next most sensitive method was an over-sampling adaptive synthetic sampling approach. This revealed that the RUS method was suitable for finding minority class values. The results of applying to some real data sets were similar to those of the simulation.

  • In this paper we point out another advantage of systematic sampling over simple random sampling, which have not yet been spelled out in the literature. After a single sample is drawn by a sampling scheme, it is important to check whether the achieved sample represents the pupulation well or out. Therefore, a sampling scheme which avoids the possibility of selecting non-preferred samples is desirable. The simulation results are given to illustrate that, in the ordered population, the possibility of selecting non-preferred sample by systematic sampling is lower than that by simple random sampling.

  • In this paper, stochastically dependent single and sequential acceptance sampling plans are dealt when the process follows a Polya process model. A Monte-Cairo algorithm is used to find the acceptance and rejection probabilities of a lot. The number of defectives for the test to be accepted and rejected in a probability ratio sequential test can be found by using these probabilities. The formula to measure performance of these sampling plans is developed. Type I and II error probabilities are estimated by simulation. Dependent multiple acceptance sampling plans can be derived by extending the sequential sampling procedure. In numerical examples, single and sequential sampling plans of a Polya dependent process are examined and the characteristics are compared according to the change of the dependency factor.

  • An interferometric microscope with an improved lateral resolution is presented. The nanometer resolution XY stage is integrated into standard temporal phase shifting interferometer. The nanometer resolution XY stage is used to position specimen in subpixel of CCD detector, therefore CCD detector's sampling is improved. Two scanning algorithms and those simulation results are also presented. The simulation results show that scanning algorithms improve CCD detector's sampling significantly, and interferometeric microscope's lateral resolution is improved also.

  • Standard acceptance sampling plans models the production pricess as a sequence of independent identically distributed Beruoulli random variables. However, the quality of items sampled sequentially from an ongoing production process of ten exhibits statistical dependency that is not accounted for in standard acceptance sampling plans. In this paper, a dependent production process is modelled as an ARMA process and as a two-state Markov chain. A simulation study of each is performed. A comparison of the probability of acceptance is done for the simulation method and for the approximation method.

  • This study examines the activity system of teaching and learning about informal statistical inference using sampling simulation, based on cultural-historical activity theory. The research explores what contradictions arise in the activity system and how the system changes as a result of these contradictions. The participants were 20 elementary school students in the 5th to 6th grades who received classes on informal statistical inference using sampling simulations. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the data. The findings show that a contradiction emerged between the rule and the object, as well as between the mediating artifact and the object. It was confirmed that visualization of empirical sampling distribution was introduced as a new artifact while resolving these contradictions. In addition, contradictions arose between the subject and the rule and between the rule and the mediating artifact. It was confirmed that an algorithm to calculate the mean of the sample means was introduced as a new rule while resolving these contradictions.

  • Purpose : This research aims to develop a data-driven inspection policy for radio stations utilizing the KS Q ISO 2859-1 sampling method, addressing potential regulatory relaxations and impending management challenges. Methods : Using radio station inspection big data from the past six years, we established a simulation model to evaluate the current policy. A new inspection sampling policy framework was designed based on the KS Q ISO 2859-1 method. The study compares the performance of the current and proposed inspection systems, offering insights for an improved inspection strategy. Results : This study introduced a simulation model for inspection system based on the KS Q ISO 2859-1 sampling method. Through various experimental designs, key performance indicators such as non-detection rate and sample proportion were derived, providing foundational data for the new inspection policy. Conclusion : Using big data from radio station inspections, we evaluated current inspection systems and quantitatively compared a new system across diverse scenarios. Our simulation model effectively verified the feasibility and efficiency of the proposed framework. For practical implementation, essential factors such as lot size, inspection cycle, and AQL standards need precise definition and consideration. Enhancing radio station inspections requires a policy-driven approach that factors in socio-economic impacts and solicits feedback from industry participants. Future study should also explore various perspectives related to legislative, institutional, and operational aspects of inspection organizations.

  • In this paper, a real-coefficient approach to Adaptive Frequency Sampling (AFS) technique is developed for efficient equivalent circuit modeling of RF components. This proposed method is advantageous than the vector fitting technique and the conventional AFS method in terms of fewer samples leading to a lower order of a rational function on a given data and to a direct conversion to an equivalent circuit for PSPICE(Personal Simulation Program with Integrated Circuit Emphsis) simulation, respectively. To validate the proposed method, the distributed equivalent circuit of a presented multi-layered RF low-pass filter is obtained using the proposed real-coefficient AFS, and then comparisons with EM simulation and circuit simulation for the device under consideration are achieved.
