  • In this paper, a system that can collect GPS L1 C/A, GLONASS G1, and BDS B1I signals with single front-end receiver was implemented using a universal software radio peripheral (USRP) and its performance was verified. To acquire the global navigation satellite system signals, hardware was configured using USRP, antenna, external low-noise amplifier, and external oscillator. In addition, a value of optimum local oscillator frequency was selected to sample signals from three systems with L1-band with a low sampling rate as much as possible. The comparison result of C/N0 between the signal collection system using the proposed method and commercial receiver using double front-end showed that the proposed system had 0.7 ~ 0.8dB higher than that of commercial receiver for GPS L1 C/A signals and 1 ~ 2 dB lower than that of commercial receiver for GLONASS G1 and BDS B1I. Through the above results, it was verified that signals collected using the three systems with a single USRP had no significant error with that of commercial receiver. In the future, it is expected that the proposed system will be combined with software-defined radio (SDR) and advanced to a receiver that has a re-configuration channel.

  • To study the thickness variation of volcanic rocks of Jeju Island, microtremor data were recorded at eight and four sites using short-period and broadband seismometers, respectively, for 30 ~ 60 minutes with a 100 Hz sampling rate. During the daytime, these records show increased cultural noise at frequencies above 1.8 Hz. Natural noise occurs in the frequency range of 0.4 to 0.8 Hz in both daytime and nighttime data. Predominant frequencies determined by the H/V spectral-ratio method are in the range of 0.2 ~ 0.7 Hz. These frequencies decrease gradually as the central part of the Mt. Halla is approached. This may indicate that the basement is warped downward beneath the center of the island, which is consistent with previous gravimetric and magnetic models. Assuming an average shear-wave velocity of 1,800 m/s for the overburden basalts, the depths to basement are estimated to be between 640 and 2,140 m.

  • The stiffness of the asphalt concrete is represented by the complex modulus $E^*$, which is very important properties in the mechanistic design of flexible pavement system. The moduli of asphalt concrete were generally determined by dynamic modulus test. However, the dynamic modulus testing method is too complex, expensive, and time consuming to be applicable on a production basis. The IR(Impact Resonance) method has been shown to be a truly simple nondestructive testing method which produces very repetitive, consistent results. The major object of this study was to estimate of the effects on IR tests for determining modulus of asphalt concrete including impact position, specimen support condition, impact steel ball size and sampling rate. The variations of IR test results with various testing conditions are within ${\pm}2.7%$.

  • This paper presents the method of improving the data rate and BER in the inductive coupling link using a BPM signaling method. A complementary switching transmitter is used to remove invalid glitches at transmitted data, and the concept of pre-distortion is introduced to optimize received data. Also, an integrating receiver is used to increase the sampling margin and equalizing transistors are added in the pre-charge path of the integrator and comparator for high frequency operation. The transceiver designed with a 0.13 um CMOS technology operates at 2.4 Gb/s and consumes 5.99 mW from 1.2 V power supply.

  • As the Imperious surface is an important index for the estimation of urbanization and environmental change, the increase of impervious surfaces causes meteorological and hydrological changes like urban climate change, urban flood discharge increasing, urban flood frequency increasing, and urban flood modelling during the rainy season. In this study, the estimation of impervious surfaces is performed by using Landsat-7 ETM+ image in An-sung area. The construction of sampling data and checking data is used by IKONOS image. It transform to a tasselled cap and NDVI through the reflexibility rate of Landsat ETM+ image and analyze various variables that influence on impervious surface. Finally, the impervious surfaces map is accomplished by regression tree algorithm.

  • This paper presents a 10-bit 10-MS/s asynchronous successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) which consists of a digital-to-analog converter (DAC), a SAR logic, and a comparator. The designed asynchronous SAR ADC with a rail-to-rail input range uses a binary weighted DAC using metal-oxide-metal (MOM) capacitor to improve sampling rate. The proposed 10-bit 10-MS/s asynchronous SAR ADC is fabricated using a 0.18-${\mu}m$ CMOS process and its active area is $0.103mm^2$. The power consumption is 0.37 mW when the voltage of supply is 1.1 V. The measured SNDR are 54.19 dB and 51.59 dB at the analog input frequency of 101.12 kHz and 5.12 MHz, respectively.

  • Indoor air quality tends to be the dominant contributor to personal exposure because most people spend over 90% of their time indoors. For some contaminants, exposure to indoor air poses a potentially greater health threat than outdoor air exposures. Indoor nitrogen dioxide ($NO_2$) levels are mainly affected gas range, flue gas spillage, kerosene heaters, wood-burning appliances and cigarette smoke. In addition, indoor $NO_2$ levels are influenced by such house characterization as surface reaction and air exchange rate. In this study, the measurements of indoor and outdoor $NO_2$ concentrations were taken using identical protocols, and information was collected on housing characteristics using identical questionnaires in 14 houses out of 15 houses for daily 30 daily 30 days in Brisbane, Australia. The usage of gas range was the most contributing factor in indoor $NO_2$ concentration in relation to house characteristics. Average indoor and outdoor ratios of NO2 concentration in electronic and gas cooking houses were $0.6{\pm}0.1$ and $0.9{\pm}0.2$, respectively. The frequency distributions of $NO_2$ concentration in each house were approximately log-normal Geometric mean of indoor $NO_2$ concentrations of electronic and gas cooking houses for daily 30 days ranged from 2.5 ppm to 11.5 ppm with a mean 6.8 and from 4.7 ppm to 28.6 ppm with a mean 15.6 ppm, respectively. The $NO_2$ concentrations between electronic and gas cooking houses were significantly different (p<0.05). Since each house has different life-style and house characteristics, sampling interval to measure the $NO_2$ levels was recommended above 7 days.

  • Previous works for detecting arrhythmia have mostly used nonlinear method such as artificial neural network, fuzzy theory, support vector machine to increase classification accuracy. Most methods require higher computational cost and larger processing time. Therefore it is necessary to design efficient algorithm that classifies PVC(premature ventricular contraction) and decreases computational cost by accurately detecting feature point based on only R peak through optimal R wave. For this purpose, we detected R wave through optimal threshold value and extracted RR interval and R peak pattern from noise-free ECG signal through the preprocessing method. Also, we classified PVC in realtime through RR interval and R peak pattern. The performance of R wave detection and PVC classification is evaluated by using 9 record of MIT-BIH arrhythmia database that included over 30. The achieved scores indicate the average of 99.02% in R wave detection and the rate of 94.85% in PVC classification.

  • Owing to the advances in ADC and DSP technologies, signals in If band, which once had to be processed in analog technology, can new be digitally processed. This is referred to as "Digital IF" or "Digital Radio", which is a preliminary stage of SDR. Applying the digital radio technology to a multi-carrier receiver design, a processing gain is generated through an over-sampling of input data. In the digital receiver, decimation is performed for reducing the computational complexity CIC and half band filter is used together with the decimation as an anti-alising filter. The CIC filter, however, should introduce the roll-off phenomenon in the passband, which causes the receiving performance to be considerably degraded due to the distorted Passband flatness of receiving filter. In this paper, we designed a CIC roll-off compensation filter for W-CDMA digital receiver. The performance of the proposed compensation filter is confirmed through computer simulations in such a way that the BER is minimized by compensating the roll-off characteristics.off characteristics.
