  • A rectifying inspection plan which assumes a gamma - prior distribution on the lot percent defective is considered. This sampling inspection plan is developed for finite lot sizes with matching OC curves and generated from an initial plan selected from KS A 3102 single sampling by attributes. Comparisons are made with each plan by three examples.

  • In this paper, chain-shaped multi-level skip-lot sampling plan is designed, which is a normal inspection plan between Choi(1993)'s tightened inspection plan and Choi(1995)'s reduced inspection plan. In every skipping inspection of the proposed plan, when designed numbers of consecutively inspected lots are accepted, switch to the next skipping inspection, and when a lot is rejected, switch to the skipping inspection of two-level lower. Also, the formulae of the operating chareacteristic function, average sampling number and average outgoing quality for the proposed skip-lot sampling plan are derived using the morkov chain approach and their properties are studied and graphically compared with those of the other multi-level skip-lot sampling plans.

  • Reliability assurance problem is an important issue in advanced company with good R&D capacity. In Korea, long-term and large-scale project for reliability improvement and certification have been conducted from 2000, 4 years ago. Generally, assurance is composed of system assurance and lot assurance. For reliability lot assurance. it is prerequisite to development reliability sampling plan with time-saving and minimum cost. In this paper, we aim to investigate previous study on reliability lot assurance focused on reliability sampling plans and propose some suggestions for the future study.

  • Various linear cost models have been proposed that can be used to determine a sampling plan by attributes. This paper is concerned with this sampling cost model when the probability that the number of nonconforming item is smaller than the break-even quality level is known. In addition to this situation, a constraint by AOQL is considered. Under these conditions, optimal sampling plan which minimize the average cost per lot is suggested.

  • A fixed-precision-level sampling plan was developed to establish control of the two-spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae, in two strawberry greenhouses (conventional plot, natural enemy plot). T. urticae was sampled by taking a three-leaflet leaf (1 stalk) from each plant (3 three-leaflet leaves) from each sampling position. Each leaflet was divided into three different units (1-leaflet, 2-leaflet, and 3-leaflet units) to compare relative net precision (RNP) values for selection of the appropriate sampling unit. The relative net precision values indicated that a 1-leaflet unit was more precise and cost-efficient than other units. The spatial distribution analysis was performed using Taylor's power law (TPL). Homogeneity of the TPL parameters in each greenhouse was evaluated by using the analysis of covariance (ANCOVA). A fixed-precision-level sequential sampling plan was developed using the parameters of TPL generated from the combined data of the conventional plot and natural enemy plot in a 1-leaflet sampling unit. Sequential classification sampling plans were also developed using the action threshold of 3 and 10 mites for pooled data. Using the results obtained in the independent data, simulated validation of the developed sampling plan by Resampling validation for sampling plan (RVSP) indicated a reasonable level of precision.

  • This paper deals with a group acceptance sampling plan for time truncated tests which are based on the total number of failures from the whole group assuming that the life time of an item follows the Dagum (inverse Burr) distribution. This study is developed when a multiple number of items as a group can be tested simultaneously in a tester. The minimum number of groups required for a given group size and acceptance number is determined such that the producer and consumer risks are satisfied simultaneously at the specified quality level, while the termination time and the number of testers are specified. Comparisons are made between the proposed plan and the existing plan on the basis of size of the groups. Two real examples are provided.

  • In this paper, the design of ALT(Accelerated Life Test) requires a sampling plan based on failure-censored(Type II censored) ALT with lognormal life distribution. Specially the environmental effect of products has been emphasized, so we considered the upper life limit as well as lower life limit in the ALT sampling plan. The optimal plan with a high stress and a low stress is used as test plan, and the total sample size for test and lot acceptability constant which minimize an asymptotic variance of maximum likelihood estimator of assumed model parameters and satisfy the given producer's risk and customer's risk are drawn out. These values can be acquired by means of the computer program that we coded for resolving the difficulty and complexity of calculation.

  • Bemisia tabaci is one of polyphagous insect pests that transmits Tomato Yellow Leaf Curl Virus (TYLCV) and Cassava Brown Streak Disease (CBSD). Insecticides are primarily applied to control B. tabaci, but it has limits due to the development of resistance. As a result, a fixed precision sampling plan was developed for its integrated pest management (IPM). The tomato plants were divided into top (more than 130cm from the ground), middle (70 cm to 100 cm above the ground), and bottom (50 cm or less above the ground) strata, before visual sampling of the larvae of B. tabaci. The spatial distribution analysis was conducted using Taylor's power law coefficients with pooled data of top, middle, bottom strata. Fixed precision sampling plan and control decision-making were developed with precision levels and action threshold recommended from published scientific papers. To assess the validation of the developed sampling plans, independent data not used in the analysis were evaluated using the Resampling Validation for Sampling Plan (RVSP) program.

  • These days, customers have attached great importance to the function of product liability and quality assurance. In Korea, the single rectifying sampling inspection for attribute (KS A 3105) has been used. But this inspection plan given by tables (KS A 3105) has some defects. There are limitations in the range of applications and irrationality of approximate probability and the double rectifying sampling inspection is not mentioned. Moreover, ATI (average total inspection) does not reflect sampling costs and the loss of nonconforming item. Therefore, the objectives of this study is to develope new algorithms and computer program that provide the optimal sampling inspection plan based on minimum linear costs (single & double inspection plan). The result of this study revealed that the new algorithm is less than KS A 3105 in ATI and basically, double inspection plan is more economical. Also it comes over restrictions in KS A 3105. So, it is definite that the optimal solution can be obtained considering cost factors in manufacturing and sampling process, and costs can be saved in the long term.
