Electrical conductivity of$50Li_2O-xTiO_2-(50-x)P_2O_5$ glasses has been studied with an increase of the intermediate$TiO_2$content. Thermal properties were observed from TG-DTA measurement and the variation of glass structure was investigated by FT-IR. The density and glass transition temperature increased with an increase of the $TiO_2$ content. These results were attributed to the fact that bond strengthening was occurred because of the formation of P-O-Ti cross linkages in the glass. The ionic conductivity increased with $TiO_2$ content and a maximum value, $1.2{imes}10^{-6}$S/cm showed at x=20. The ionic conductivity showed a large increasement as a result that the pyrophosphate group become the predominant structural unit. This result can explain that Li ions mobility increased as a number of non-bridging oxygen on phosphate units increased.
Objectives : The purpose of this study was to gain an understanding of the effects of three exercise types on anthropometric and serum lipids and physiological index factors, which are known to be the three risk factors of cardiovascular disease in male workers. Methods : The experimental study period was 12 weeks. In this study, 30-40's males (N=31) were assigned to 3 experimental groups: regular aerobic(treadmill walking) exercise group, regular anaerobic(muscular endurance) exercise group, irregular aerobic & anaerobic exercise group and a control group using a stratified random assignment method. Results : In relation to anthropometric factors, the regular aerobic & anaerobic exercise groups showed significant decreases in Weight, Broca's index, WC, BMI, WHtR, WHpR and HRrest. With regard to the serum lipid factors, the TC was decreased, but the HDL-c increased among the regular aerobic & anaerobic exercise groups. However, no significant difference was found between the other groups in respect to the LDL-c and TG. Considering the physiological factors, the TC/HD-c, TC-HDL/HDL-c, LDL-C/HDL-c and NON-HDL-c ratios were decreased, but the HDL-c/TC ratio increased among the regular aerobic & anaerobic exercise groups. The TG/HDL-c and HDL-c/LDL-c ratios showed no significant differences between the groups. These results indicated that the positive change for each factor is much larger in the regular exercise groups, especially in the anaerobic exercise group. Conclusions : The results indicate that not only regular aerobic exercise, but also regular anaerobic(muscular endurance) exercise could be utilized in lessening the deleterious effects of the risk index factors for cardiovascular disease.
This study aims to investigate the effect of Neuromuscular Re-education Program and Traditional Intervention Program and is focusing on the difference between changes of experimental before and after on 30 stroke patient's body composition, blood lipid levels, physical motor function. The obtained results are as follows; 1. Change in body composition 1) The change due to the Neuromuscular Re-education Program and Traditional Intervention Program before and after, the Fat Mass and Soft Lean Mass were changed but not significantly. 2) In the comparison of change according to duration, Significant differences were not shown in Fat Mass and Soft Lean Masss between The experimental group and control group. 2. Change in blood lipid levels 1) The change due to the Neuromuscular Re-education Program and Traditional intervention Program before and after, the Cholesterol, Glucose and TG were changed but not significantly. 2) In the comparison of change according to duration, Significant differences were not shown in the Cholesterol, Glucose and TG between the Experimental group and Control group. 3. Change in physical motor function 1) The change due to Neuromuscular Reeducation Program before and after. The physical motor function was significantly changed(p<0.01; p<0.05). but Traditional Intervention Program was changed but not significantly. 2) In the comparison of change according to duration, Signicant differences between the Experimental group and Control group was significantly changed in only the Neuromuscular Reeducation Program(p<0.05). In conclusion, The Neuromuscular Reeducation Program were not changed significantly but it can be said that the Neuromuscular Reeducation Program was more suitable for intervention to improve physical motor function of stroke patients than Traditional Intervention Program. Therefore if further studies increase the experimental duration of Reeducation Program and make the patient's reeducation continuously for improvement of physical motor function in stroke patient are needed.

In order to study the preventive effects of hyperlipidemia depending on endogenous and exogenous methods of induction, after observing what happens when Nokyongdaebotang, a strengthening up treatment is orally administrated into the ways that cause hyperlipidemia either by the exogenous hyperlipidemia condition model method, which is the way where you orally administrate the cholesterol that was dissolved in olive oil, or the endogenous hyperlipidemia model method, where it uses the injecting the Triton WR-1339 vein method, or to the already inducted white rats, the following conclusions could be drawn. 1. The endogenous induction method, cholesterol diet, helps preventing Total Cholesterol, TG, and LDL-Cholesterol, Free Fatty Acid, Phospholipid's augmentation within the blood in the white rats that is being induced or just inducted with hyperlipidemia 2. The exogenous induction method, Triton WR injection, helps preventing Total Cholesterol, TG, and LDL-Cholesterol, Free Fatty Acid, Phospholipid's augmentation within the blood in the white rats that is being induced or just inducted with hyperlipidemia 3. The HDL-Cholesterol did not increase in regard. This is considered to be because when the geological features the HDL-Cholesterol increases proportionally. In deference to the above results, Nokyongdaebotang, which strengthens the vitality, showed that it helps prevent white rats that is being induced or just inducted with hyperlipidemia no matter whether it is endogenous or exogenous.
Recently, a lot of epidemiological studies revealed that low HDL-cholesterol level was a better predictor of risk for coronary heart disease than total cholesterol. This study investigated the anthropometric parameters, clinical blood indices, and dietary factors influencing serum HDL-cholesterol level by using a cross-sectional study for Korean female college students. The subjects were 94 female college students. They were divided into three groups according to their serum HDL-cholesterol levels, low HDL-cholesterol (<50 mg/dL, n=20), medium HDL-cholesterol (50 $\leq$, < 60 mg/dL, n=39) high serum HDL-cholesterol groups (60 $\leq$ mg/dL, n = 35). This study examined their demographic data and dietary intake throughout a questionnaire. Clinical blood indices were measured using an automatic blood chemistry analyzer (Selectra E), after 12 hours of fasting. BMI, body weight, fat mass, and waist circumferences were significantly increased according to low serum HDL-cholesterol levels. Serum lipid analysis showed a significantly higher level of TG, LDL-/HDL-Ratio, atherogenic index in the low HDL-cholesterol group. Serum levels of GPT, uric acid and alkaline phosphatase in the low HDL-cholesterol group were significantly higher than in the other group. The average consumption of energy was 1627 kcal and 77.76% of estimated energy requirement (EER). The mean ratio of calories from carbohydrate: protein: fat was 57:15:28. The low HDL-cholesterol group was significantly higher than the other groups in eggs, fat and oils consumption. Interestingly, milk and diary products consumption of low HDL-cholesterol group was half (p < 0.05) of those of the other groups. In conclusion, serum HDL-cholesterol levels appeared to be decreased by increasing BMI, fat mass, waist circumference, and serum TG level. In addition, some dietary factors seemed to be related to serum HDL-cholesterol levels. However, further research is needed to elucidate the exact relationship between serum HDL-cholesterol level and dietary factors.

Hydrophilicity and hydrophobicity of pottery bodies can be controlled via chemical substitution of layered clay with hydrophilic and hydrophobic organics. In this study, organo-clay nanocomposites were prepared by ion-exchange of montmorillonite with dodecylamine and hexadecylamine, respectively. Substitution sites of organics and the interval changes of layered materials are characterized by FT-IR and WAXD and organics amounts loaded and water comtents contained by C/S analysis and TG-DSC. The organics were selectively intercalated so that increase layer interval from 12${\AA}\; to\;16{\AA}$. Organo-modified clay is changed to more hydrophobic comparing to clay itself.
This study was carried out to examine the impacts of lower body meridian hand therapy on changes in obese women's body composition and blood lipid. 30 obese women participated in the experiment carried out twice a week for 5 weeks on 15 subjects in lower body meridian hand therapy group and 15 lower-body bathing/lower body meridian hand therapy group. For changes in body composition, BMI, body fat and waist-hip ratio decreased in both groups, while for changes in blood lipid, TC, LDL-C and TG decreased while HDL-C increased by 0.98% in the former group while 1.12% in the latter group. Thus, the 5-week treatment of lower body meridian hand therapy was effective for improving body composition, decrease of blood lipid and of middle-aged obese women, so which can be recommended as lower body obesity management program in esthetics.
Obesity is characterized by increased storage of fatty acids in an adipose tissue and closely associated with the development of insulin resistance and cardiovascular diseases (CVD) through secretion of adipokines. This study was done to compare serum insulin, leptin, adiponectin and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) levels according to body masss index (BMI) in Korean adult women aged 19 to 50. In addition, we examined the association of BMI, serum lipids and Homa-IR with serum adiponectin, leptin and hs-CRP levels. The subjects were divided into 3 groups by their BMI, normal weight (BMI ${\leq}$ 22.9, n = 30), overweight (23.0 ${\leq}$ BMI ${\leq}$ 24.9, n = 71) and obese group (25.0 ${\leq}$ BMI, n = 59). Serum levels of total-cholesterol, TG, and LDL-cholesterol were significantly higher in obese group than in normal weight group. LDL/HDL ratio and AI were significantly higher in obese group than in normal or overweight group. Fasting serum levels of glucose and insulin and Homa-IR as a marker of insulin resistance were significantly higher in obese group than in overweight group. Serum leptin level was significantly higher in obese group while serum adiponectin level was significantly lower in obese group compared to other two groups. hs-CRP was significantly increased in obese group. Correlation data show that serum adiponectin level was positively correlated with serum HDLcholesterol level and was negatively correlated with BMI, WC, TG, LDL-cholesterol, Homa-IR, hs-CRP and leptin. In addition, serum leptin level was positively correlated with BMI, WC, glucose, insulin, Homa-IR and hs-CRP. These results might imply that the regulation of key adipokines such as adiponectin might be a strategy for the prevention or treatment of obesity-associated diseases such as diabetes and CVD.
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: Successful recovery of an animal from exercise is essential, especially prior to the next exercise session. This study was conducted to find an effective exercise-to-rest period ratio for the restoration of energy sources and replenishment of anti-oxidative status in tissue after exercise. MATERIALS/METHODS: Thirty-two rats were assigned to either non-training or training exercise groups for 5 weeks. After that period, the two groups were subdivided into four smaller groups: non-exercise (NE), exercise 0.5 hour and rest 1 hour (ER0.5:1), exercise 1 hour and rest 1 hour (ER1:1), exercise 2 hours and rest 1 hour (ER2:1). RESULTS: In the training group animals and compared to the NE group, the levels of plasma glucose after the rest period were significantly high in all ER groups but highest in the ER2:1 group. Similarly, the liver glycogen level was highest in the ER2:1 group. The plasma FFA level reached the highest level in the ER2:1 group but was similarly high in the ER0.5:1 group. Liver TG level was unchanged in the ER2:1 and ER1:1 groups but was significantly high in the ER0.5:1 group. Muscle TG levels were decreased in all three ER groups. Plasma protein levels were significantly high in the ER2:1 and ER0.5:1 groups. In both training animal and non-training animals, the liver protein levels did not change significantly between the NE and ER groups, irrespective of the exercise-to-rest ratio. In the training animal group, muscle protein level was significantly low in the ER2:1 and ER0.5:1 groups. The activity levels of superoxide dismutase and catalase, as well as the malondialdehyde concentration, were not significantly different between NE and ER groups, irrespective of the exercise-to-rest period ratio. CONCLUSIONS: These results indicate that animals provided with a 0.5:1 to 1:1 exercise-to-rest period ratio can restore their muscle energy sources and recover their anti-oxidative defense system.
Photo-induced memory effect of an organic light-emitting diode(OLED) composed of a hydrazone-derivative(DBAH) dispersed in bis-phenol-A type polycarbonate polymer(PCA) in the presence of thio-Michler's ketone, was investigated by the measuring of the current density and luminance at the various conditions. After the light exposure, the current of the OLED was decreased approximately one order, and the luminance of the OLED also decresed. This memory effct was erasable by heating the OLED to the temperature higher than the glass transition temperature(Tg). As shown in this result, we found the memory effect was erased by heating and returned to its original state in the hole injecting layer(HIL) of the OLED. A series of these phenomena was suggested the possibility of the application to the imaging plate.
