  • Neonatal intestinal perforation is mainly caused by necrotizing enterocolitis, intestinal atresia, meconium ileus or unknown etiology. Occasionally, Hirschsprung's disease presents with neonatal intestinal perforation, of which, it is known that total colonic aganglionosis is common. Therefore, Hirschsprung's disease should be considered as a cause of neonatal intestinal perforation. The authors have experienced 3 cases of neonatal Hirschsprung's disease associated with colonic perforations. Cecal perforations were noted in 2 cases with aganglionosis from descending colon and sigmoid perforation in a case with aganglionosis in rectum. These cases will be discussed with literature review.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to address a case of a Parkinson's disease with anorexia and nausea. Methods: A patient diagnosed with Parkinson's disease with anorexia and nausea was treated with Korean medicine therapies including herbal medication (Hyangsayukgunja-tang), acupuncture, electro-acupuncture, and moxibustion for 7days. To evaluate the therapeutic effect, we used a visual analogue scale(VAS). Results: After the treatment, the VAS score for anorexia and nausea had decreased. Conclusion: These results suggested that Korean medicine therapies with Hyangsayukgunja-tang have a beneficial effect on the gastrointestinal symptoms of Parkinson's disease.

  • The purposes of this study were to present the basic reference data of age and specipic gait parameters for Parkinson's disease patients. The basic gait parameters were extracted from 20 patients of parkinson's disease and 20 healthy control subjects using VICON 512 Motion Analyzer. The temporal gait parameters and kinematic parameters is data of Parkinson' s Disease Patients. The results were as follows: (1) In patients' group, cadence, walking velocity were less than control group (p<.05). (2) In patients' group, maximum flexion of hip, maximum adduction of hip and maximum flexion of the knee were less than control group (p<.05). (3) In patients' group, maximum varus of the knee were more than control group (p<.05).

  • Angiolymphoid hyperplasia with eosinophilia(Kimura's disease) is a relatively uncommon chronic benign disorder of unknown etiology, predominantly in the head and neck region and associated with lymphadenopathy or salivary gland enlargement. The treatment options are still controversial including medical therapy, surgery, and radiation. Kimura's disease of bilateral postauricular involvement has rarely been reported. We report a male patient with sequentially developed Kimura's disease involving the bilateral postauricular region and was treated by combined surgical excision and steroid therapy.

  • Objectives : This in vitro research was conducted to investigate the effect of the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus. on the cytokine protein release and Nitric oxide release in releted to Alzheimer's disease. Methods : Specifically, the effects of the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract on $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$ of BV2 microglia cell line treated with lipopolysacchride. Results: The Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract suppressed the production of inflammatory cytokine protein $IL-1{\beta}$, IL-6, $TNF-{\alpha}$ and in BV2 microglia cell line treated with lipopolysacchride. Conclusion: These results suggest that the Ginseng Radix plus Crataegi Fructus extract may be effective for the prevention and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Investigation into the clinical use of the Gin-CHF extract for Alzheimer's disease is suggested for future research.

  • We present here the case of a 13-year-old male patient with Alexander's disease who underwent surgical correction of a femur fracture. Alexander's disease is a rare and fatal disorder that affects the white matter in the brain and it causes developmental delay, psychomotor regression, spasticity, megaloencephaly and seizure. The patient had the possibility of a seizure attack during the perioperative period. We discuss the anesthetic management of a patient with Alexander's disease and we review the relevant literature.

  • In this paper, a stacked convolutional autoencoder model is proposed in order to classify Alzheimer's disease with high accuracy in PET/CT images. The proposed model makes use of the latent space representation - which is also called the bottleneck, of the encoder-decoder architecture: The input image is sent through the pipeline and the encoder part, using stacked convolutional filters, extracts the most useful information. This information is in the bottleneck, which then uses Softmax classification operation to classify between Alzheimer's disease, Mild Cognitive Impairment, and Normal Control. Using the data from Dong-A University, the model performs classification in detecting Alzheimer's disease up to 98.54% accuracy.

  • Purpose: Mondor's disease is commonly known as a benign breast condition after augmentation mammaplasty, and some authors have also reported its association with other breast surgeries such as reduction mammaplasty or axillary lymph node biopsy. Here we report two cases of Mondor's disease after immediate breast reconstruction with silicone implant. Methods: Two women, 51-year-old and 36-year-old, underwent immediate breast reconstruction with silicone implants after nipple-areolar skin-sparing mastectomy. Results: Subcutaneous cord-like firm lesion appeared on upper abdomen, axillary area following surgery. The lesion was painless and spontaneously subsided with no medications. Conclusion: To our knowledge, this is the first report of Mondor's disease developed after immediate breast reconstruction using silicone implant.

  • Objectives This study is about a "Taeumin" parkinson's disease patient with bradykinesia, tremor, weakness and dysautonomia etc. In this case, we evaluated the effect of Yuldahanso-tang gagam for parkinson's disease. Methods This patient was treated by Sasang constitutional herbal medication based on "Donguisusebowon". Acupuncture and west medications were used together. We evaluated the clinical progress through two methods, DITI(Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging) and VAS(Visual Analogue Scale). Results During 11months treatment, chief complaints and symptoms of this patient were improved. Conclusions This study shows that Yuldahanso-tang gagam is an effective treatment for "Taeumin" parkinson's disease patients.
