Salt, as food, is the most essential element for human survival due to its significant physiological functions. Here, we report the simultaneous detection of Pb and Cd in sea salt by square wave anodic stripping voltammetry (SWASV). Stripping voltammetric measurements were conducted using a manufactured rotating disk electrode system (MRDES). The detection limit was $3.6{\pm}0.18{\mu}gL^{-1}$ for Pb and $3.9{\pm}0.37{\mu}gL^{-1}$ Cd in NaCl solution. When the pH increased from 5.5 to 8.5, the peak currents of Pb and Cd decreased. At a pH of 8.3, the ratio of the current drop compared with that at a pH of 5.5 was 0.6 for Pb and 0.73 for Cd. The concentrations corrected by the current drop are in agreement with the concentrations obtained with ICP (inductively coupled plasma). This system demonstrates the reliable detection of heavy metals in aqueous media and, at a high $Na^+$ concentration, the successful application for the determination of Pb and Cd in sea salts.

Small valves including ball valves, gate valves and butterfly valves have been adopted in the fields of steam power generation, petrochemical industry, carriers, and oil tankers. Butterfly valves have normally been applied to fields where in narrow places installing the existing valves such as gate valves and ball valves have proven difficult due to the surrounding area and the heavier of these valves. Butterfly valves are used to control the mass flow of the piping system under low pressure by rotating the circular disk installed inside. The butterfly valve is benefitted by having simpler structure in which the flow is controlled by rotating the disc circular plate along the center axis, whereas the weight of the valve is light compared to the gate valve and ball valve above-mentioned, as there is no additional bracket supporting the valve body. The manufacturing company needs to acquire the performance and life test equipment, in the case of adopting the improving factors to detect leakage and damage on the seat of the valve disc. However, small companies, which are manufacturing the industrial valves, normally sell their products without the life test, which is the reliability test and environment test, because of financial and manpower problems. Furthermore, the failure mode analysis of the products failed in the field is likewise problematic as there is no system collecting the failure data on sites for analyzing the failures of valves. The analyzing and researching process is not arranged systematically because of the financial problem. Therefore this study firstly tried to obtain information about the failure data from the sites, analyzed the failure mode based on the field data collected from the customers, and then obtained field data using measuring equipment. Secondly, we designed and manufactured the performance and life test equipment which also have the real time monitoring system with the naked eye for the butterfly valves. The concept of this equipment can also be adopted by other valves, such as the ball valve, gate valve, and various others. It can be applied to variously sized valves, ranging from 25 mm to large sized valves exceeding 3000 mm. Finally, this study carries out the life test with square wave pressure, using performance and life test equipment. The performance found out that the failures from the real time monitoring system were good. The results of this study can be expanded to the other valves like ball valves, gate valves, and control valves to find out the failure mode using the real time monitoring system for durability and performance tests.

As the problems of global warming are brought up recently, many skillful solutions for developing new renewable energy are suggested. One of the most remarkable things is ocean energy. Korea has abundant ocean energy resources owing to geographical characteristics surrounded by sea on three sides, thus the technology of commercialization about tidal current power, wave power is demanded. Especially, Tidal energy conversion system is a means of maintaining environment naturally. Tidal current generation is a form to produce electricity by installing rotors, generators to convert a horizontal flow generated by tidal current into rotating movement. According to rotor direction, a tidal current turbine is largely distinguished between horizontal and vertical axis shape. Power capacity depends on the section size crossing a rotor and tidal current speed. We therefore investigated three dimensional flow analysis and performance evaluation using commercial ANSYS-CFX code for an 100 kW class horizontal axis turbine for low water level. Then We also studied three dimensional flow characteristics of a rotating rotor and blade surface streamlines around a rotor. As a result, We found that torque increased with TSR, the maximum torque occurred at TSR 3.77 and torque decreased even though TSR increased. Moreover we could get power coefficient 0.38 at designed flow velocity.

A Mobile Radio Wave Measurement System (MRWMS)is a vehicle-mounted system designed to be operating in a single mission. The mission characteristic for mobile measurement requires mobility. For this, we must consider the arrangement and embedded method of MRWMS's antennas. In this paper, we described the measurement method design of direction detecting accuracy for MRWMS and designed the direction finding antenna mast capable of rotating itself by using a slip ring without turntable for Direction Finding (DF) accuracy test. As we removed the dependency of a limited local area by designing a measurement method of direction detecting accuracy, Equipment Under Test (EUT) zero-Adjustment and mounted process shortened. So, we the reduced production costs. We expect an improved cable loss value by shortening the RF cable length in accordance with our design. In addition, due to the same phenomenon, the entire system is lighter and the mobility is improved.
The heterogeneous rate constants for the electrochemical reduction by $trans-[Co(en)_2X_2](ClO_4)_n$(where X is cyanide, nitrite, ammonia, and isothiocyanate) at mercury and glassy carbon electrode were investigated by cyclic voltammetry, DC polarography, and by using rotating disk electrode. The good linear relationship was obtained between the activation energy of reduction and absorption wave number of complexes on glassy carbon electrode. At mercury electrode, $NO_2^-$ ligated complex showed the large deviation from the linear relationship. The difference in the value of rate constants for $NO_2^-$ ligated complex between mercury and glassy carbon electrode was about three order of magnitude which was much larger than the other complexes. It was suggested that $NO_^-$ ligated complex was reduced by inner-sphere mechanism on mercury electrode from the larger value of activation energy and entropy on mercury than carbon electrode.

We propose a algorithm to calculate power factor of fundamental waveform in an environment where the voltage and current have been distorted by harmonics. In the proposed power factor computation algorithm, voltage and current are converted to rotating DQ reference frame, and power factor is calculated from active power and reactive power. We compare the proposed method with the conventional power factor measurement method as mathematically. In a condition that voltage and current are distorted by harmonics, the proposed method accurately measure the power factor of fundamental wave, and it is confirmed by simulation using MATLAB. If the proposed power factor measurement method is applied to an automatic power factor control system, a power factor compensation performance can be maximized in harmonic distortion environment. As a result, it is possible to reduce electricity prices, reduce line loss, increase load capacity, ensure the transmission margin capacity, and reduce the amount of power generation.

Objectives: This study aimed to compare two nickel-titanium systems (rotary vs. reciprocating) for their acceptance by undergraduate students who experienced nickel-titanium (NiTi) instruments for the first time. Materials and Methods: Eighty-one sophomore dental students were first taught on manual root canal preparation with stainless-steel files. After that, they were instructed on the use of ProTaper Universal system (PTU, Dentsply Maillefer), then the WaveOne (WO, Dentsply Maillefer). They practiced with each system on 2 extracted molars, before using those files to shape the buccal or mesial canals of additional first molars. A questionnaire was completed after using each file system, seeking students' perception about 'Ease of use', 'Flexibility', 'Cutting-efficiency', 'Screwing-effect', 'Feeling-safety', and 'Instrumentation-time' of the NiTi files, relative to stainless-steel instrumentation, on a 5-point Likert-type scale. They were also requested to indicate their preference between the two systems. Data was compared between groups using t-test, and with Chi-square test for correlation of each perception value with the preferred choice (p = 0.05). Results: Among the 81 students, 55 indicated their preferred file system as WO and 22 as PTU. All scores were greater than 4 (better) for both systems, compared with stainless-steel files, except for 'Screwing-effect' for PTU. The scores for WO in the categories of 'Flexibility', 'Screwing-effect', and 'Feeling-safety' were significantly higher scores than those of PTU. A significant association between the 'Screwing-effect' and students' preference for WO was observed. Conclusions: Novice operators preferred nickel-titanium instruments to stainless-steel, and majority of them opted for reciprocating file instead of continuous rotating system.

The outer-most electrons of metal atoms and the remaining valence electrons of any molecular atoms make three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings. The rotating electrons on the three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bonding orbitals of atoms make $\pi$-far infrared rays. Longitudinal wave is a propagation of a bundle of $\pi$-far infrared rays, which are produced by a dynamic impact on a solid bar. The $\pi$-far infrared rays make three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings in the material, which reproduce the same $\pi$-far infrared rays. If a current signal is input into water molecules under a given electric potential field with $\pi$-far infrared rays (input information), the signal can be amplified because the $\pi$-far infrared rays make the $\pi$-bondings, which reduce electric resistance. The three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings can induce normal electrons to move from one orbital to next one with a aid of potential electric field. Quantum Resonance Spectrometer is composed of tesla coil absorbing $\pi$-far infrared rays, tesla coil emitting varying electromagnetic waves signal generator, signal storage, human body amplifier, signal analyzer and data indicator. The absorbing tesla coil making varying magnetic field and downward and upward electric field, which resonates the $\pi$-far infrared rays coming out from specimen and absorbs them. The modulated current signal from the input square signal can generate and emit varying electromagnetic waves from the tesla coil. The varying electro-magnetic waves make the three-dimensional crystallizing $\pi$-bondings and the $\pi$-far infrared rays in the water molecules.

Assessment and management of fisheries abundance in fresh water like a river or a lake is very important to maintain fisheries itself as well as tourist industry even if their scale is not much large. The species for catch in fresh water are mainly a mandarin fish, a carp, an eel, and others. Because oriental river prawn is a main prey of these species and the change in its abundance is directly related to their abundance change in fresh water, information on the abundance and distribution of the species are necessary. Hydroacoustic survey is known to one of the efficient method among several methodology. Information on acoustic target strength is key parameter to estimate abundance for acoustic survey. In this study, measurements on oriental river prawn, Macrobrachium koreana, were conducted for two high frequencies(200kHz and 420kHz) with tilt angle using automatic rotating system. The results of acoustic target strength obtained from the experiment were compared with those of acoustic scattering model, Distorted Wave Born Approximation(DWBA) model. For 200kHz, the result of acoustic target strength experiments was expressed in terms of the averaged target strength dependence on the body langth(BL, cm) as a following relationship; < $TS_{200kHz}$ > = 45.9log(BL) - 107.4. These results provide basic information for studying acoustic target strength and conducting acoustic survey of oriental river prawn.

Most of the aerospace propulsion is based on the Brayton cycle, in which the combustion is held through the constant pressure process, but further improvement of performance by increasing compression ratio is challenged by mechanical limits. Detonation propulsions, regarded promising for high-speed propulsion for a lase decade, is more rigorously studied in these days as a game-changer for the improvement of thermodynamic efficiency of propulsion and power generation systems. Since, the additional compression by the strong shock of the detonation wave is considered increasing thermodynamics efficiency that is hardly achievable by the conventional compression systems. Present paper will give an introduction the latest technical trends on the Pulse Detonation Engines(PDEs) and the activities on the Pressure Gain Combustion (PGC) based on Constant Volume Combustion (CVC).
