In this paper, the dynamic stability of a rotating cantilever pipe conveying fluid with a crack is investigated by the numerical method. That is, the influence of the rotating angular velocity, mass ratio and crack severity on the critical flow velocity for flutter instability of system are studied. The equations of motion of rotating cantilever pipe are derived by using extended Hamilton's principle. The crack section of pipe is represented by a local flexibility matrix connecting two undamaged pipe segments. The crack is assumed to be in the first mode of fracture and always opened during the vibrations. Generally, the critical flow velocity for flutter is proportional to the rotating angular velocity of a pipe. Also, the critical flow velocity and stability maps of the rotating pipe system for the variation each parameter are obtained.
The vibration characteristics of a rotating cantilever beam undergoing impulsive force are investigated using wavelet transformation. The transient response induced by the impulsive force and the rigid body motion of the beam are calculated using hybrid deformation variable modeling along with the Rayleigh-Ritz assumed mode methods. The vibration characteristics of the beam can be analyzed in time-frequency domain with the wavelet transform method. Therefore, the effects of the impulsive force on the transient vibration characteristics of the beam can be investigated more effectively.
A modeling method for the modal analysis of a rotating composite beam is presented in this paper. Linear differential equations of motion are derived by using the assumed mode method. For the modeling, hybrid deformation variables are employed and approximated to derive the equations of motion Symmetrical laminated layers are considered for the composite beam. The effects of the dimensionless angular velocity, the hub radius and the fiber orientation angle parameter on the variations of modal characteristics are investigated.

In this paper, the equations of motion by which the natural vibration of rotating thick ring can be analyzed accurately are presented. These equations are derived from the theory of finite deformation and the principle of virtual work. The effects of variation in curvature across the ring cross-section can be considered in these equations. The ring models are called as thick ring model and thin ring model respectively as the effects of variation in curvature are considered or neglected. The radial displacement of ring which is rotating at constant angular velocity is determined by a non-linear equation derived from the principle of virtual work. The equations of the in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations at disturbed state are also formulated from the principle of virtual work. They can be expressed as the combination of the radial displacement at the steady state and the disturbed displacements about the steady state. The natural vibrations of rings with different thickness are analyzed by using the presented ring models and 3-dimensional finite element method to verify accuracy of the presented equations of motion. Its results are compared and discussed.
This paper presents theoretical analyses for unstable vibrations caused by the couple of bending and torsion in a rotating shaft driven through a universal joint. A driving shaft is assumed to be rigid and to rotate with a constant angular velocity. The driven shaft system consists of a flexible shaft with a circular section and a symmetrical rotor attached at a point between the shaft ends. Equations of motion derived hold with an accuracy of the second order of shaft deformations, and are analyzed by the asymptotic method. The vibrations become unstable when the driving shaft rotates with the angular velocity to be approximately equal to half of the sum of the natural frequencies for whirling and torsional vibrations.
In this paper a method for analysing aerodynamic characteristics of a rotating parachute in steady descending motion is presented Because of a complex geometric configuration of the parachute associated with side vents and discontinuous skirts, special procedure was adopted to handle the geometry in the analysis. A panel method was successfully applied to the present problem and yielded good results using above procedure. A CFD code using the full Navier-Stokes equations was also applied and produced good results. Parachute free drop and wind tunnel tests were performed to determine the fully developed canopy configuration and aerodynamic characteristics. The method can be used for optimizing the parachute size and side vent configurations.
In this paper, we present a real-time method to detect moving objects in a rotating and zooming camera. It is useful for camera surveillance of fixed but rotating camera, camera on moving car, and so on. We first compensate the global motion, and then exploit the displaced frame difference (DFD) to find the block-wise boundary. For robust detection, we propose a kind of image to combine the detections from consecutive frames. We use the block-wise detection to achieve the real-time speed, except the pixel-wise DFD. In addition, a fast block-matching algorithm is proposed to obtain local motions and then global affine motion. In the experimental results, we demonstrate that our proposed algorithm can handle the real-time detection of common object, small object, multiple objects, the objects in low-contrast environment, and the object in zooming camera.
The electro-magnetic vector equation(F=$qv{\times}B$ ; F:force, B:magnetic field, q:plus charge, v :velocity of the charge) explains well about the rotations of electron and positron under the magnetic field[Ref.1], as in Fig.1(a). Because the electro-magnetic wave is also a motion of the alternating charge and magnetic field as in Fig.2, the force vector has all the time inwarding direction and then the wave has a rotating motion. The positron in the proton has constant charge and alternating one at the same time[Ref.2] and then the alternating charge makes the absorbing force with the alternating charge of the rotating wave ($\pi$-ray) around the nucleus[Ref.2].
