  • The priorities of siting restriction was derived from quantification of environmental hazard according to industrial classification based on 'Chemical Ranking and Scoring System(CRS)' which is handling the discharge characteristics of 31 industrial classifications regulated from locating at 'Industrial Complex in Rural Area(ICRA)'. CRS that is utilizing the data of 'Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers(PRTR)' is applied to determine human health risk and ecological risk which are calculated by discharged amount and materials $LC_{50}$ according to water, soil and air media based on industrial classification. From this process, exposure assessment and toxicity assessment for integrating the adverse environmental impact and the mitigation effect of environmental risk according to the development of environmental technologies into establishing the rational landuse management method for the 31 industrial classifications regulated from locating at ICRA was analyzed. From the assessment result of the siting restriction removal at ICRA for 31 industrial classifications, based on 2012 year reference 6 industries that includes Manufacture of Guilt Coloration Surface Processing Steel Materials, Manufacture of Biological Product, Manufacture of Smelting Refining and Alloys of Copper, Dyeing and Finishing of Fibers and Yarns, Manufacture of Other Basic Iron and Steel n.e.c., Rolling Drawing and Extruding of Non-ferrous Metals n.e.c. are calculated as having relatively lower environmental hazards, thus it is judged that the siting restriction mitigation at ICRA is possible for the 6 industrial classifications that are not discharging the specific hazardous water contaminants during manufacturing process.

  • Currently, highway design speed is determined by considering highway function, area type, and terrain type. Sometime it is pointed out that determining a reasonable design speed which is both efficient and safe is not an easy task and that Practicing engineers often select an unsuitable design speed on purpose, capitalizing on some ambiguous and discretionary expressions in describing the highway design speed. This undesirable Problem is arising mostly due to the fact, that the current geometric design standard fails to include rolling terrain type and can not reflect the whole characteristics of land use patterns adjacent to the design highway route. A recent research was Published considering this problem and it attempted to improve the highway design speed determining process. In this research Project, tn see the effects of this recently developed procedure, a new and reduced design speed was calculated based on the new Procedure and subsequently another highway design route was selected. The travel time. construction cost. and the expected degree of safety associated with the new route were assessed to be compared with the ones with the existing procedure. As a result. it was found that the new procedure was successful in reflecting the localities such as terrain type and area type into better determining highway design speed, eliminating much of highway engineers' discretion when applying engineering judgments. Also the new Procedure is keen to produce a more economical highway project. In other words, despite of producing reduced amount of user benefits accrued, in the new highway route, the construction cost has been cut significantly leading to higher values in B/C. NPV, and IRR. Also EMME-II output, which Provided the link assigned volumes, rendered only a slightly reduced Levels of Service along surrounding links in the study network. This reduction was believed to occur because of lower design speed and it had been expected from the beginning.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of post heat treatment on bonding properties of roll cladded Ti/MS/Ti materials. First grade Ti sheets and SPCC mild steel sheets were prepared and then Ti/MS/Ti clad materials were fabricated by a cold rolling and post heat treatment process. Microstructure and point analysis of the Ti/MS interfaces were performed using the SEM and EDX Analyser. Diffusion bonding was observed at the interfaces of Ti/MS. The thickness of the diffusion layer increased with post heat treatment temperature and the diffusion layer was verified as having $({\epsilon}+{\zeta})+({\zeta}+{\beta}-Ti)$ intermetallic compounds at $700^{\circ}C$ and an $({\zeta}+{\beta}-Ti)$ intermetallic compound at $800^{\circ}C$, respectively. The micro Knoop hardness of mild steel decreased with post heat treatment temperature; however, those of Ti decreased at a range of $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ and showed a uniform value until $800^{\circ}C$ and then increased rapidly up to $900^{\circ}C$. The micro Knoop hardness value of the diffusion layer increased up to $700^{\circ}C$ and then saturated with post heat treatment. A T-type peel test was used to estimate the bonding forces of Ti/Mild steel interfaces. The bonding forces decreased up to $800^{\circ}C$ and then increased slightly with post heat treatment. The optimized temperature ranges for post heat treatment were $500{\sim}600^{\circ}C$ to obtain the proper formability for an additional plastic deformation process.

  • This study aimed to provide basic data for establishing the clinical basis for dental hygienist-led dental hygiene process of care by identifying multiple risk factors for self-support program participants in Gangneung city; we also compared oral health status and behavioral changes through customized oral health care. Four dental hygienists who were evaluated for degree of conformity provided dental hygiene process of care to eight self-support program participants who were selected as having an oral health risk among people in the self-support center. The clinical indicators measured during dental hygiene assessment and evaluation and behavioral changes due to dental hygiene intervention were compared and analyzed. With respect to clinical indicators, at the time of probe, the retention rate of patients with gingival bleeding decreased from 61.4% to 14.7% after intervention (p=0.004). Furthermore, the retention rate of patients with a periodontal pocket >4 mm decreased from 15.6% to 5.8% (p=0.001). The average modified O'Leary index of the patients improved from 23 to 40 (p=0.002). Previously, all eight subjects used the vertical or horizontal method of brushing; after dental hygiene care interventions regarding method and frequency of toothbrushing, use of oral care products, and individual interventions, they started using the rolling or Bass method of toothbrushing. Four of eight subjects reported using interdental toothbrushes after intervention. As a result of applying the change model to the transtheoretical behavior change of the subject, the result of strengthening the health behavior was confirmed. For promotion of oral health by the prevention-centered incremental oral health care system, dental hygienist-led dental hygiene management and maintenance is essential. It is thought that continuous research, such as for feasibility evaluation, cost benefit analysis, and preparation of legal systems, is needed to establish and activate dental hygiene management.

  • This study was performed to find out the optimum adhesive conditions on manufacturing a cross-laminated timber (hereinafter CLT) with using domestic Korean Pine (Pinus koraiensis). The adhesive conditions including a applied amount of the glue and a Pressure are the one of the most important key factors on establishing CLT production process. The shear strength was examined with differing the adhesive conditions while using Phenol Resorcinol Formaldehyde Resin Adhesive (PRF resin). The optimum adhesive conditions was confirmed to be: glue spread of $250g/m^2$ and Pressure of 0.8 MPa respectively. The grain directions of glued specimens were also considered, perpendicularly bonded and parallelly bonded groups. Shear strength of the former group showed lower values than the latter group which is considered to be the effect of a rolling shear. Meanwhile the shear strength of both group satisfied the Korean Standard (KS F 3021) and the European Standard (EN 14080 and EN 16351). The results derived from this study can be used as the basic data for manufacturing the CLT with domestic Korean Pine. And additional researches for the other species including domestic Korean Larch and Pitch Pine is also now being performed.

  • A trial run of locally-developed tilting train has been in process on Chungbuk line since the test vehicle was first produced. For the system stabilization, interface verification among the systems including track, structure, catenary and signaling system, not to mention the rolling stock, is very crucial. In the area of wayside structure, the stability of track structure and train run shall be evaluated through the review of impact by increased speed by developed train on track structure. The study thus was intended to evaluate the impact on track while a tilting train is running the curve section, which is vulnerable to accelerated train speed. The analysis of tilting train test running the part of Chungbuk line and Honam line was conducted to identify the impact on existing track performance by tilting train. To identify the movement behavior of each part of track while tilting train, high speed train and traditional train (Mugunghwa and freight train) were running the existing line, wheel load, lateral wheel load, rail bending stress, vertical and lateral displacement of rail and vertical displacement of sleeper were compared and analyzed so as to evaluate the expected impact by tilting train for improving the train speed.

  • Viroids are the smallest. well-characterized infectious agents presently known. and so far viroids have been found only in higher plants. The structures of viroid-molecules are single-stranded, covalently closed circular RNA molecules with a range of 240 to 380 nucleotides according to the various viroids. Viroids are remarkable not only as a new category of pathogen, which cause economically important diseases, but also as an excellent model system for biochemical and biophysical investigations because of their small size, relative stability and their self-replication. Four different patato spindle tuber viroid isolates, which express the different symptoms on the same host plant exchange only 2 to 6 nucleotides in the total number of 359 nucleotides, but now the mechanism of viroid pathogenicity is not explained fully. Viroid-melecules are replicated without any special viroid-associated proteins, and during the process of viroid replication oligomeric viroid-associated RNAs are detected at nuclei of viroid infected leaf tissue. The mechanism of viroid replication can now be illustrated according to a possible explanation of rolling-circle system. Although the rapid progress have been made in elucidation of the biochemical and biophysical properties of PSTV and other viroids, the mechanism of viroid replication and pathogenicity is less known and is still a matter of speculation. When these problems can be sufficiently explained, the viroid molecule could play an important role as an available vector in plant genetic engineering.

  • A dynamic analysis procedure is developed to provide a better estimation of the dynamic responses of bridge during the passage of high speed railway vehicles. Particularly, a three dimensional numerical model including the structural interaction between high speed vehicles, bridges and railway endures to analyse accurately and evaluate with in-depth parametric studies for dynamic responses of various bridge span lengths running KTX railway locomotive up to increasing maximum speed(450km/h). Three dimensional frame element is used to model the simply supported pre-stressed concrete (PSC) box bridges for four span lengths(40~25m). Track irregularity employed as a stationary random process from the given spectral density functions and irregularities of both sides of the track are assumed to have high correlation. The high-speed railway vehicle (KTX) is used as 38-degree of freedom system. Three displacements (Vertical, lateral, and longitudinal) as well as three rotational components (Pitching, rolling, and yawing) are considered in the 38-degree of freedom model. The dynamic amplification factors are evaluated by the developed procedure under various traveling conditions, such as track irregularity camber, train speed and ballast. The dynamic analysis such as Newmark-${\beta}$ and Runge-Kutta methods which are able to analyse considering the dynamic impact factors are compared and contrasted.

  • For heat exchanger applications, 2-ply clad materials were fabricated by rolling of aluminum (Al) and mild steel sheets. Effects of annealing temperature on interface properties, especially on inter-layer formation and softening of strain hardened mild-steel, for Al/mild steel clad materials, were investigated. To obtain optimum annealing conditions for the Al/mild steel clad materials, annealing temperature was varied from room temperature to $600^{\circ}C$. At the annealing temperature about $450^{\circ}C$, an inter-layer was formed in an island-shape at the interface of the Al/mild steel clad materials; this island expanded along the interface at higher temperature. By analyzing the X-ray diffraction (XRD) peaks and the energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) results, it was determined that the exact chemical stoichiometry for the inter-layer was that of $Fe_2Al_5$. In some samples, an X-layer was formed between the Al and the inter-layer of $Fe_2Al_5$ at high annealing temperature of around $550^{\circ}C$. The existence of an X-layer enhanced the growth of the inter-layer, which resulted in the delamination of the Al/mild-steel clad materials. Hardness tests were also performed to examine the influence of the annealing temperature on the cold deformability, which is a very important property for the deep drawing process of clad materials. The hardness value of mild steel gradually decreased with increasing annealing temperature. Especially, the value of hardness sharply decreased in the temperature range between $525^{\circ}C$ and $550^{\circ}C$. From these results, we can conclude that the optimum annealing temperature is around $550^{\circ}C$ under condition of there being no X-layer creation.

  • In this study, the harmless crack size (ahml) by double shot peening (DSP) using shot balls with different diameters was evaluated on carburized, quenched-tempered SCM822H steel. The minimum crack size (aNDI) detectable by non-destructive inspection was also evaluated. The relationship between the crack size (a25,50) that reduces the fatigue limit by 25% and 50% and ahml was evaluated. The residual stress of DSP was greater in SP(0.6+0.08) than SP(0.8+0.08) and appeared deeper in the depth direction. In addition, the hardness below the surface appeared larger. The fatigue limit of DSP increased 2.07 times and 1.95 times compared to non-SP. All ahml of the DSP specimen was determined at the depth (a). The compressive residual stress distribution affects ahml, and the ahml of SP(0.6+0.08), which has a large compressive residual stress and a high fatigue limit, appeared large. ahml of SP(0.6+0.08) introduced deeper than the residual stress of SP(0.8+0.08) is larger in the range of As=1.0-0.3. Since the residual stress in the thickness direction has a greater effect on ahml than the residual stress at the surface, it is necessary to introduce it more deeply. The relation of ahml, a25,50, and aNDI were evaluated in the point for safety and reliability.
