  • A new robust digital fuzzy controller design methodology is proposed for load frequency of nonlinear power system with valve position limits of governor in the presence of parametric uncertainties. The Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy model is adopted for fuzzy modeling of the nonlinear power system. A sufficient condition of robust stability for robust fuzzy control with parametric uncertainties is presented in the sense of Lyapunov. The controller that designed by preposed robust fuzzy controller design method is based compounding condition between continues system and discrete system. The effectiveness of controller that designed by the proposed robust fuzzy controller design method is demonstrated through simulation example.

  • It was shown that the robustness of deterministic observers with respect to modeling errors, measurement bias and round-off errors can be represented by a single performance index the condition number of the observer eigenvector matrix. In this paper, a robust observer for multi-output systems is designed using the left eigenstructure assignment, where the observer gain can not be determined uniquely with respect to the desired observer poles. Utilizing the eigenstructuer assignment for the robustness of the observer, the desired eigenvector matrix is selected to achieve the observer eigenvector matrix with the small condition number. The performance of the designed robust observer is evaluated in a spindle-drive simulation example where the load speed to be estimated based on the measured signals.

  • In this paper, we consider the design problem of robust stabilization and robust guaranteed cost state feedback controller for discrete-time singular systems with parameter uncertainties by LMI(linear matrix inequality) approach without semi-definite condition and decomposition of system matrices. The objective of robust stabilization controller is to construct a state feedback controller such that the closed-loop system is regular, causal, and stable. In the case of robust guaranteed cost control, the optimal value of guaranteed cost and controller design method are presented on the basis of robust stabilization control technique. Finally, a numerical example is provided to show the validity of the design methods.

  • This paper considers a robust observer-based $H_{\infty}$ controller design method for descriptor systems with parameter uncertainties using just one LMI condition. The sufficient condition for the existence of controller and the controller design method are presented by a perfect LMI condition in terms of all variables using singular value decomposition, Schur complement, and change of variables. Therefore, one of the main advantages is that a robust observer-based $H_{\infty}$ controller is found by solving one LMI condition compared with existing results. Numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed controller design method.

  • This paper concerns the problem of global robust stability of a time-delay discontinuous system with a positive-defined connection matrix under polytopic-type uncertainty. In order to give the stability condition, we firstly address the existence of solution and equilibrium point based on the properties of M-matrix, Lyapunov-like approach and the theories of differential equations with discontinuous right-hand side as introduced by Filippov. Second, we give the delay-independent and delay-dependent stability condition in terms of linear matrix inequalities (LMIs), and based on Lyapunov function and the properties of the convex sets. One numerical example demonstrate the validity of the proposed criteria.

  • A two-degrees-of-freedom servosystem for step-type reference signals has been preposed, in which the integral compensation is effective only when there is a modeling error or a disturbance input. this paper considers robust stability of the servosystem incorporating an observer against both structured and unstructured uncertainties of the plant. A condition is obtained as a linear matrix inequality, under which the servosystem is robustly stable independently of the gain of the integral compensator. This result implies that we can tune the gain to achieve a desirable transient response of the servpsystem preserving robust stability. An example is presented to demonstrate that under the robust stability condition, the transient response can be improved by increasing the gain of the integral compensator.

  • In order to reject the steady-state tracking error, it is common to introduce integral compensators in servosystems for constant reference signals. However, if the mathematical model of the plant is exact and no disturbance input exists, the integral compensation is not necessary. From this point of view, a two-degree-of-freedom(2DOF) servosystem has been proposed, in which the integral compensation is effective only when there is a modeling error or a disturbance input. The present paper considers robust stability of this 2DOF servosystem incorporating an observer to the structured and unstructured uncertainties of the controlled plant. A robust stability condition is obtained using Riccati inequality, which is written in a linear matrix inequality (LMI) and independent of the gain of the integral compensator. This result impies that if the plant uncertainty is in the allowable set defined by the LMI condition, a high-gain integral compensation can be carried preserving robust stability to accelerate the tracking response.
