이동하중과 3차원 모델링을 통한 접속부 지지강성연구 (A Study on the Supportive Stiffness in Transitional Zones through Moving Load-Based Three-Dimensional Modeling)

  • The Transitional zone between bridge abutment and earthwork is one of the representative vulnerable zones in railway where differential settlements may take place due to the different supportive stiffness. Although transitional zones are managed with stricter standards than those of the other earthwork zones either in the design and construction stages, it is very difficult to prevent differential settlement perfectly. A three-dimensional numerical analyses were performed by applying train moving load in this study. The analytical model including abutments and earthwork zones was constituted with rail, sleepers, track concrete layer (TCL), hydraulic stabilized base (HSB), reinforced road bed, and road bed using railway and road base structure. The clamp connecting the rail and sleeper were also modeled as the element with spring coefficient. The train wheel is modeled in the actual size and moved on the rail with 300 km/hr speed. The deformation characteristics at each point of the rail and the ground were considered in detail when moving the train wheel. The analysis results were compared with those from the two-dimensional analysis without considering moving load. The research results show that displacement and stress were greater in the three-dimensional analysis than in other analyses, and the three-dimensional analysis with moving load should be performed to evaluate railway performance.

Preliminary data analysis of surrogate fuel-loaded road transportation tests under normal conditions of transport

  • In this study, road transportation tests were conducted with surrogate fuel assemblies under normal conditions of transport to evaluate the vibration and shock load characteristics of spent nuclear fuel (SNF). The overall test data analysis was conducted based on the measured acceleration and strain data obtained from the speed bump, lane-change, deceleration, obstacle avoidance, and circular tests. Furthermore, representative shock response spectrums and power spectral densities of each test mode were acquired. Amplification or attenuation characteristics were investigated according to the load transfer path. The load attenuated significantly as it transferred from the trailer to the cask. By contrast, the load amplified as it transferred from the cask to the surrogate SNF assembly. The fuel loading location on the cask disk assembly did not exhibit a significant influence on the strain measured from the fuel rods. The principal strain was in the vertical direction, and relatively large strain values were obtained in spans with large spacing between spacer grids. The influence of the lateral location of fuel rods was also investigated. The fuel rods located at the side exhibited relatively large strain values than those located at the center. Based on the strain data obtained from the test results, a hypothetical road transportation scenario was established. A fatigue evaluation of the SNF rod was performed based on this scenario. The evaluation results indicate that no fatigue damage occurred on the fuel rods.

국도건설공사 도로분야의 공종별 환경부하량 특성분석 (Analysis of Environment Emission Characteristics Each Construction Type for Road Field)

  • 최근 기후변화에 대응하기 위해 새롭게 체결된 파리협정에 따라 우리나라는 2030년까지 기준대비 37%의 탄소배출량 감축목표를 제시하였다. 이를 위해 28개 산업분류에서 3번째로 많은 이산화탄소를 배출하는 건설산업에서 보다 적극적인 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 기존의 완공된 국도건설사례들 중 터널과 교량을 제외한 도로분야만을 이용하여 전과정평가(LCA)를 실시하여 환경부하량을 산출 하였다. 산출된 환경부 하량을 기반으로 대공종의 대표공종을 선정한 결과 토공, 배수공, 포장공이 전체의 84%를 차지하였으며, 세부공종별 대표공종을 선정하여 각 세부공종별 환경부하량 특성을 분석하였다. 국도건설공사 시 환경부하량 공종별 배출특성을 이용한다면 환경부하량을 기반으로 하는 친환경적인 국도건설공사 의사결정에 도움이 될 것이다.

도로 유형별 비점오염원 유출특성 분석 (Analysis of Nonpoint Sources Runoff Characteristic by Road Types)

  • Growth in population and urbanization has progressively increased the loading of pollutants from nonpoint sources as well as point sources. Especially in case of road regions such as city trunk road, national road and highway are rainfall and pollutants runoff intensive landuses since they are impervious and emit a lot of pollutants from vehicle activity. This research was conducted to investigate the nonpoint sources concentration and quantifying stormwater pollutants which are contained in rainfall runoff water. Three different monitoring sites in Jinju and Changwon city were equipped with an automatic rainfall gauge and flow meter for measuring rainfall and the volume of rainfall runoff. In the case of average EMC value, city trunk road was shown the highest value in target water quality items like as BOD, COD, SS, TN and TP. Or the amount of runoff loads by water quality items showed the highest value in city trunk road. And runoff load in city trunk road was 43.8 times high value compared to highway by value of city trunk road $356.7 mg/m^2$, highway $8.150 mg/m^2$, national road $19.99 mg/m^2$ in the case of BOD.

연성포장설계의 소성변형과 피로파괴 예측모델에 대한 신뢰성 연구 (A Study of Reliability of Predictive Models for Permanent Deformation and Fatigue Failure Related to Flexible Pavement Design)

  • PURPOSES: The objective of this paper is to select the confidential intervals by utilizing the second moment reliability index(Hasofer and Lind; 1974) related to the number of load applications to failure which explains the fatigue failure and rut depth that it indicates the permanent deformation. By using Finite Element Method (FEM) Program, we can easily confirm the rut depth and number of load repetitions without Pavement Design Procedures for generally designing pavement depths. METHODS : In this study, the predictive models for the rut depth and the number of load repetitions to fatigue failure were used for determining the second moment reliability index (${\beta}$). From the case study results using KICTPAVE, the results of the rut depth and the number of load repetitions to fatigue failure were deducted by calculating the empirical predictive equations. Also, the confidential intervals for rut depth and number of load repetitions were selected from the results of the predictive models. To determine the second moment reliability index, the spreadsheet method using Excel's Solver was used. RESULTS : From the case studies about pavement conditions, the results of stress, displacement and strain were different with depth conditions of layers and layer properties. In the clay soil conditions, the values of strain and stresses in the directly loaded sections are relatively greater than other conditions. It indicates that the second moment reliability index is small and confidential intervals for rut depth and the number of load applications are narrow when we apply the clay soil conditions comparing to the applications of other soil conditions. CONCLUSIONS : According to the results of the second moment reliability index and the confidential intervals, the minimum and maximum values of reliability index indicate approximately 1.79 at Case 9 and 2.19 at Case 22. The broadest widths of confidential intervals for rut depth and the number of load repetitions are respectively occurred in Case 9 and Case 7.

P.S.C 철도교량의 잔존수명 예측 (Lifetime Prediction of a P.S.C Rail Road Bridge)

  • The biggest challenge bridge agencies face is the maintenance of bridges, keeping them safe and serviceable, with limited funds. To maintain the bridges effectively, there is and urgent need to predict their remaining life from a system reliability viewpoint. In this paper, a model using lifetime functions to evaluate the overall system probability of survival of a rail road bridge is proposed. In this model, the rail load bridge is modeled as a system. Using the model, the lifetime of the rail road bridge is predicted.

도로노면 유출수의 비점오염원 배출 특성(2): 중금속 및 병원성 미생물 (Characteristics of Non-point Pollutants from the Road Runoff (2): Heavy Metals and Pathogens)

  • Road runoff water includes various heavy metals (zinc, Zn; lead, Pb; copper, Cu; chrome, Cr; cadmium, Cd; etc.) and pathogens (E-coli and coliform). Since these pollutants are significantly harmful to human beings and have negative impact on water streams, numerous studies have been conducted to determine the characterization of these non-point pollutants from road runoff water. However, since these non-point pollutant concentrations vary depending on road traffic, road construction, and road maintenance, measurement of pollutant loadings in different site is necessary to estimate the effect of road runoff water on drinking water source. The objective of this study was to examine the quality of road runoff water from a city bridge in Seoul, Korea. This study was conducted for two years to assess annual discharge pollution loads. In this study, five key heavy metals (Zn, Pb, Cu, Cr, and Cd) and two pathogens (E-coli and coliform) were measured at 18 different events. The pollutant load mass transported was always higher than the corresponding runoff volume for Zn, Cu, and Cd, while Pb and Cr showed similar values between the load mass transported and the corresponding runoff volume. The event mean concentrations were Zn (0.908 mg/L), Pb (0.092 mg/L), Cu (0.141 mg/L), Cr (0.023 mg/L), and Cd (0.006 mg/L). Like Zn, Cu, and Cd, E-coli and coliform values (relatively high in Summer and Fall) are higher at the beginning of each event and decrease afterwards.

  • Road traffic noise is not produced by any one factor rather occurs as a composition of various factors. Its occurrence is made by running engine noise, tire frictional, and exhaust noise etc. The quality of the noise depends on the size of the vehicles, rotation and engine speed, vehicle load, package state of the road and incline etc. The occurrence of noise level of heavy trucks appears louder than smaller vehicles and the noise levels produced differs according to speed and load etc between similar size vehicles. Other factors such as traffic density, average speed, mixing rate of heavy vehicles, and the distance between vehicles also generate road traffic noise. In this paper we examine 2, 4, and 6-lane roads in Jeonju. Consequently, this study examined the means used to measure road traffic noise. It was found that when there is a large traffic density and the average velocity is below 70 km/hr, the noise level could receive a relative proper value by the current measuring means. But in the case of night-time, it was found that the current measuring method is inapposite.

계측 유형별 풍속 데이터 분석을 통한 도로표지의 안정성 확보 방안에 관한 연구 (An Study on Securing the Stability of Road Sign through Analysis of wind data according to types of measurement)

  • 최근 안전에 대한 관심이 크게 높아지고 있으며, 도로 교통 분야에서도 안전의 필요성이 대두되고 있다. 이에 따라 도로 교통 분야의 안전성 제고를 위하여 도로 시설물의 객관적인 안정성 평가가 필요하며, 자연재해 대비를 목적으로 도로 시설물의 피해 저감이 가능한 기술 적용이 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 계측 유형별 풍속 데이터와 이를 적용한 도로표지의 구조 안전성을 비교 분석하여 기상 계측 유형의 시설물 안전성 평가에 대한 영향을 분석하였다. 더불어 도로표지의 안정성 확보 방안을 도출하였으며, 도출한 안정성 확보 방안 중 풍하중 저감 기술에 대한 효과를 분석하였다. 계측 유형별 풍속 데이터 분석 결과, 기상관측차량시스템의 풍속 데이터는 기상청과 도로기상정보시스템의 풍속 데이터에 비하여 약 2.43배로 크게 나타났다. 또한 기상관측차량시스템의 풍속 데이터를 적용한 도로표지의 안정성 검토를 통하여 돌풍으로 인한 도로표지의 파괴 및 전도의 가능성이 있는 것으로 분석되며, 안정성 확보 방안 마련이 필요한 것으로 판단된다. 도로 선형 단위의 기상 데이터를 활용하여 도로 시설물의 객관적인 안정성 분석과 모니터링이 가능할 것으로 판단되며, 풍하중 저감 기술 적용을 통하여 도로 안전도의 제고가 기대된다.

매설방법과 차량하중에 따른 벤더형 압전에너지 하베스터의 설계 및 평가 (Development and Evaluation of the Bender Type Piezoelectric Energy Harvester According to Installation Methods and Vehicle Weight)

  • A road energy harvester was designed and fabricated to convert mechanical energy from the vehicle load to electrical energy. The road energy harvester is composed of 20 piezoelectric materials. This study attempted to evaluate output depending on pavement materials when paving road piezoelectric energy harvester in the road. Harvester is the bender type and is the method of supporting the both ends of piezoelectric material and applying the load in the middle part. Harvester was paved in the type paved with asphalt, type paved with cement and in the exposed type not covering the top of harvester. The output characteristics were compared and evaluated depending on changes in vehicle load and vehicle speed changes. As vehicles, truck (11.9 ton), SUV(1.6 ton) and sedan (1.5 ton) were used and the output characteristics when driving at the interval of 10 km/h from 10 km/h to 100 km/h were evaluated.
