Legal Issues and Improvement Schemes for Underground Pedestrian Connection to Utilize Three-dimensional Urban Space - With Cases of Jung-gu, Seoul - (입체적 도시공간 활용을 위한 지하연결통로 설치의 법적 쟁점과 개선방향 - 서울시 중구를 사례로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze legal characteristics and issues of an underground pedestrian connection, which is a very useful tool to create 3D pedestrian networks and the vibrant underground environment. To do this, this paper explored the related laws to install the connection and analyzes 74 cases of Jung-gu, Seoul to find major issues. Then, it defined the legal characteristics in terms of not only the laws but also property law in Korea, thereby suggesting the improvement schemes. As a result, this paper concluded that the connections can be installed by an Urban Planning Facility or a Road Occupation Permit, but should be considered their public interest. In addition, exactions or fees for the permit should be carefully implemented based on the characters of the connection.

  • This paper deals with stand-alone PV power generation system with charge and discharge controller for the LED road sign. Main power source of PV system are generally solar cell and battery. Therefore PV system can be classified into variable types in accordance with connection type between battery and solar sell. Mainly used on of them is direct connection type which has advantage such as simple structure and simple controller. To verify the proposed PV generation system for the LED road sign, the detail simulation and experiment results indicate that operating characteristics are verified by experiment with a laboratory prototype in this paper.

  • Recently, advances in mobile communication and location identifying technology of the moving object is evolving. Therefore, the location-based services based on request for service have increased and a variety of the indexing for the position management of moving objects has been studied. Because the index based on Euclidean space are no restriction of movement, it is difficult to apply to the real world. Also, there is additional cost to find adjacent road segments in road networks-based indexing. Existing studies of fixed static objects such as buildings or hospitals are not considered. In this paper, we propose an efficient road networks-based indexing for management of current positions. The proposed indexing partitions road networks by grids and has integrated road connection informations and manage separated extra indexing for fixed static objects. Through the experiment, we show that the proposed indexing based on road networks improves the performance of operation for search or update than existing indexing.

Directional texture information for connecting road segments in high spatial resolution satellite images

  • This paper addresses the use of directional textural information for connecting road segments. In urban scene, some roads are occluded by buildings, casting shadow of buildings, trees, and cars on streets. Automatic extraction of road network from remotely sensed high resolution imagery is generally hindered by them. The results of automatic road network extraction will be incomplete. To overcome this problem, several perceptual grouping algorithms are often used based on similarity, proximity, continuation, and symmetry. Roads have directions and are connected to adjacent roads with certain angles. The directional information is used to guide road fragments connection based on roads directional inertia or characteristics of road junctions. In the primitive stage, roads are extracted with textural and direction information automatically with certain length of linearity. The primitive road fragments are connected based on the directional information to improve the road network. Experimental results show some contribution of this approach for completing road network, specifically in urban area.

  • This paper proposes a new method for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers. The proposed method designates a region of interest on the road surface without first detecting a lane. The road surface markings are extracted by location and size using a connection component analysis. Distortion due to the perspective effect is minimized by normalizing the size of the road markings. The road surface marking of the connected component is recognized by matching it with the stored road marking templates. The proposed method is implemented using C language in Raspberry Pi 4 system with a camera module for a real-time image processing. The system was fixedly installed in a moving vehicle, and it recorded a video like a vehicle black box. Each frame of the recorded video was extracted, and then the proposed method was tested. The results show that the proposed method is successful for the recognition of road surface marks and numbers.

This is also a predicting thesis for a smooth goods transport in case of setting up a goods transport system between south and North Korea predicting transport demand for the connection of a railway and road studying fundamental facilities and transport related laws.

  • Road signs serve guide informations for efficient traffic control and are regulated by Road Sign Regulation. But few road managers break the regulation because of civil complaint and cause driver's confusion. Also, as promote the road name guide signs and the new road signs on expressway, the driver's confusion being increased. This study analysis factors of driver's confusion, calculates limited information on road signs and specifies modes of driver's confusion caused by road signs. The traffic accident data during 3 years is calculated in order to see how much intimate connection between the road sign confusion and the traffic.

  • It is difficult for the road management system to give a correct road information because road facilities are differently managed according to each object. In this study, we have solved this problem of road information management and, developed a system which is able to integrate various data of facilities and to maintain the latest property of data by introducing server-client network structure for managing road facilities more efficiently. And, we have shown the affairs of the road information management could be achieved scientifically, by the integration of graphic, attribute and photograph information relevant to road. This enabled the connection of graphic data and the stereo drawing composition, and enhanced the feeling of real world experience using the dynamic image data of the road.

  • The development of Technology study for preventing of accident and reducing the risk through the intelligence of level crossing is provide the detection of stopped car at railway crossing with the most advanced intelligence technology such as sensor, computer, communication and date processing and transmit to the operational staff on broad for reaction or make the train stopped automatically through the connection with train. Also this study include that showing the situation of crossing railway when the train is approached and prevent the accident and reduce the risk through the connection of road transit signal system. On this study is performed the test through the date from spot level crossing and the development of video detection algorism for stopped road transit vehicle at level crossing with intelligent system.
