A Study, on the Minimum Oil Film Thickness of Connecting-rod Bearing in Engine (엔진 연결봉 베어링의 최소 유막 두께에 관한 연구)

  • The minimum oil film thickness(MOFT) in the connecting-rod bearing of a 1.5 liter, L-4, gasoline engine is measured up to 5500 rpm and calculated to study the dynamically loaded engine bearing. Short bearing approximation and Mobility method are used for theoretical analysis of oil film characteristics. And cylinder pressure, crank-pin surface temperature and bearing temperature are measured as the input data of theoretical analysis. The MOFT are measured by the total capacitance method(TCM). To improve the reliability of the test results, a reasonable determination method of bearing clearance is introduced and used, and the effects of cavitation and aeration on the test results are neglected. The crankshaft is grounded by means of a slip ring. A scissor type linkage system was developed to measure the MOFT and bearing temperature. The effects of engine speed, load and oil viscosity on the measured and calculated minimum oil film thicknesses are investigated at 1500 to 5500 rpm. From the comparison between the measured and calculated MOFT, it is found that a qualitative similarity exists between them, but in all cases, the measured MOFT are smaller than those calculated.

  • Recently, the old surveying method for acquiring surveying-geo information results had a low economic efficiency and a low dependence of precision because it took much times and high costs. So, we acquired law data by execution of control surveying through Static positioning of DGPS(Ashtech). It is computed plainmetric(X, Y) positioning through postprocessing by Prism S/W. And we computed height(Z) through control surveying by ring-closed leveling surveying. After control surveying execution, we built DEM(Digital Elevation Model) using LDT S/W and accuracy 3D detail surveying by EDM(Electronic Distance Measurement) surveying. The purpose of this study was to yield automated digital mapping and the automated amount of materials using ahead data. The conclusions were as follows; First, we built the automated amount of materials system and got high efficiency about personnel, times and precision. Second, when, people precisely positioned on railroads of a high-speed railroad and used GPS surveying, the result was permitted. Finally, it was possible to draw automated profile and cross-section using the 3D terrain model build with the DEM technique.

Nonlinear Forced Torsional Vibration for the Engine Shafting System With Viscous Damper (점성댐퍼를 갖는 엔진 축계의 비선형 비틀림강제진동)

  • The torsional vibration of the propulsion shafting system equipped with viscous damper is investigated. The equivalent system is modeled by a two mass softening system with Duffing's oscillator and the vibratory motion is described by non-linear differential equations of second order. The damper casing is fixed at the front-end of crankshaft and the damper's inertia ring floats in viscous silicon fluid inside of the camper casing. The excitation frenquency is proportional to the rotational speed of engine. The steady state response of the equivalent system is analyzed by the computer and for this analyzing, the harmonic balance method is adopted as a non-linear vibration analysis technique. Frequency response curves are obtained for 1st order resonance only. Jump phenomena are explained. The discriminant for the solutions of the steady state response is derived. Both theoretical and measured results of the propulsion shafting system are compared with and evaluated. As a result of comparisions with both data, it was confirmed that Duffing's oscillator can be used in the modeling of the propulsion shafting system attached with viscous damper with non-linear stiffness.

An Amorphous Silicon Local Interconnection (ASLI) CMOS with Self-Aligned Source/Drain and Its Electrical Characteristics

  • A CMOS device which has an extended heavily-doped amorphous silicon source/drain layer on the field oxide and an amorphous silicon local interconnection (ASLI) layer in the self-aligned source/drain region has been studied. The ASLI layer has some important roles of the local interconnections from the extended source/drain to the bulk source/drain and the path of the dopant diffusion sources to the bulk. The junction depth and the area of the source/drain can be controlled easily by the ASLI layer thickness. The device in this paper not only has very small area of source/drain junctions, but has very shallow junction depths than those of the conventional CMOS device. An operating speed, however, is enhanced significantly compared with the conventional ones, because the junction capacitance of the source/drain is reduced remarkably due to the very small area of source/drain junctions. For a 71-stage unloaded CMOS ring oscillator, 128 ps/gate has been obtained at power supply voltage of 3.3V. Utilizing this proposed structure, a buried channel PMOS device for the deep submicron regime, known to be difficult to implement, can be fabricated easily.

  • Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Deposition (PECVD) process uses unique property of plasma to modify surfaces and to achieve the high deposition rates. In this study, a vertical thermal RF-PECVD (Radio Frequency-PECVD) reactor is modeled to investigate thermal flow and the deposition rates with various shapes of the showerhead. The showerhead in the CVD reactor has the shape of a ring and gases are injected in parallel with the susceptor, which is a rotating disk. In order to achieve the high deposition rates, we have simulated the thermal flow fields in the reactor with several showerhead models. Especially the effects of the number of injection holes and the rotating speed of the susceptor are studied. Using a commercial code, CFDACE, which uses FVM (Finite Volume Method) and SIMPLE algorithm, governing equations have been solved for the pressure, mass-flow rates and temperature distributions in the CVD reactor. With the help of the Nusselt number and Sherwood number, the heat and mass transfers on the susceptor are investigated. In order to characteristics of measure the flatness of the layer, furthermore, the relative growth rate (RGR) is considered.

  • This study investigates compressive strength of ice pellet strip which is potential medium for Natural Gas Hydrate(NGH) extruded from die holes of Twin-roll Press for Continuous Pelletizing(TPCP). Recently, the prototype of TPCP is newly developed where ice powder is continuously fed and extruded into strip-type pellet between twin rolls. The system is specifically designed for future expansion towards mass-production of ice pellet strips or solid form of natural gas hydrate. It is shown that the compressive strength of pellet strip heavily depends on factors in extrusion process such as disk size, surface smoothness, ring size, taper shape, feeding mechanism, and rotational speed. Here, the mechanism of TPCP, along with compressive strength of pellets is discussed in terms of its feasibility for producing NGH pellets in the future.

  • A vehicle's differential gear is a device designed to allow the vehicle's outer wheels to turn faster than the inner wheels when turning on a curve. The differential gear case is the main component of the differential gear system, which is composed of ring gear, pinion gear and side gear, and is fastened by pinion shaft pins. The differential gear case rotates when the vehicle is running, so balancing calibration is very important. In this study, a balancing machine that can diagnose and correct the differential gear case and mass imbalance of various rotating bodies was designed. The differential gear case was rotated at high speed to accurately diagnose the location and value of the unbalanced mass, and it was designed to be balanced and corrected by removing the unbalanced mass by drilling. After calibration, it was confirmed that the unbalanced value of all the measured samples was reduced to less than 180g.mm, and the unbalance reduction ratio was improved to 60~70%.

A Microscopic Traffic Simulation Model for Urban Network Performance Evaluation (도시 가로망시설 운영효율평가를 위한 모의실험 모형개발)

  • The purpose of this paper is to develop a microscopic traffic simulation model which is able to both analyze and the evaluate signlaized urban network and to verify its usefulness in comparison with the other model which has alfeady been released. This simulation model adopts the General Motor's 5th model for car-following and introduces an unique lanechanging rule using acceptable gap. It analyzes single and dual-ring signal phases and generates detector information . So it could be applied to dynamic route guidance systems as wel as real time signal control systems. The results derived from Netsim and the observed data from the real network have been used to test the validit of the proposed model. The result of the test has shown that there are no significant differences between the NETSIM model and the proposed model in estimating travel speed and stopped delay. In optimum offset estimatin , it has shown the same results with NETSIM. the measure of effectiveness , however, derived from this model is slightly better than that of the real network situation. This may be due to the fact that the proposed model does not take into account side frictions from interferences and obstacles.

  • Previous dynamic models of hysteresis motor use an extended induction machine equivalent circuit or somewhat different equivalent circuit with conventional one, which makes unsatisfiable results. In this paper, the hysteresis dynamic characteristics of the motor rotor are analyzed using the inverse Preisach model and the hysteresis motor equivalent circuit considering eddy current effect. The hysteresis loop for the rotor ring is analyzed under full-load voltage source static state. The calculated hysteresis loop is then approximated to an ellipse for simplicity of dynamic computation. The permeability and delay angle of the elliptic loop apply to the dynamic analysis model. As a result, it is possible to dynamically analyze the hysteresis motor according to the applied voltage and the rotor material. With this method, the motor speed, generated torque, load angle, rotor current as well as synchronous entry time, hunting effect can be calculated.
