  • This study is intended to figure out how the 6th grade students carry out newly added standards regard to the problem solving in the revised mathematics curriculum in 2007 and 2009, which are 'finding useless information in a given problem', 'finding insufficient information in a given problem', and 'posing new problem by changing conditions of the given problem.' In order to achieve this goal, we examined the characteristics of 200 elementary students' problem posing. We constructed and used the survey sheet which consisted of 6 items relevant to 'finding useless information in a given problem', 'finding insufficient information in a given problem', and 'posing new problem by changing conditions of the given problem.'

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest the contents for geography education about East Asian cultural diversity. I chose "Human Relationship and Living-Habit" culture among East Asian diverse cultures and fixed 4 themes: family cultures, traditional cultures, friendship cultures and relationship cultures with other people. For making the lesson contents for East Asian cultural diversity, I analysed Geography 2009 Revised Curriculum and presented specific contents differently depending on grades. Until now, static and homogeneous cultures in East Asia have been emphasized mostly at school but cultures that are dynamic and related to students$^{\circ}{\phi}$ life are proposed in this study. Through understanding the differences of the East Asian cultures, it will be possible to expand mutual understandings among the East Asian people. This study will be a good alternative and paving the way for enhancing cooperations in East Asia.

  • Refer ta the current state of optional curriculums and information related classes in elementary schools, the number of schools and classes, which is related in information education, is constantly reducing in recent 3 years. It is anticipated that the status of information education in school will get lower, because the extra-curricular activity is planned ta be changed with creative experience activity in revised education curriculum 2009, which is published by the ministry of education, science and technology. Moreover, the current state of information education in schools cannot actively handle the social changes and requirements but keep the old curriculums. This study explains the effectiveness and the examples of creative personality and fluency using educational robot in creative experience activity. We also tried ta find the probability of robot utilizing education as an expanded information education area in elementary school.

  • "Problem-solving methods and procedures" sections in the 2009 revised informatics curriculum emphasized active use of algorithmic thinking to solve problems. And it is proposed to solve the various problems of real life using programming language for the implementation of the algorithm. Recently, various Educational Programming Language has been developed for elementary programming activity and many researches showed that students' cognitive burden was reduced in learning programming language with Educational Programming Languages. However implementation of the algorithm is difficult for novice programmer. For the reason, effective way is required for elementary students to connect design of the algorithm and implementation of the algorithm. Therefore, in this study propose the algorithm design worksheets that it is possible to create an algorithm to describe the content needed to implementation in programming education. And this study proved the effect of the algorithm design learning tools through experiment.

  • Students' learning processes and mathematical levels should be correctly diagnosed in many different methods of assessment to help students learn mathematics. The study developed the model for the process-based assessment while using manipulatives in the middle school in order to improve problem solving, reasoning and communication which are emphasized in 2009 reformed curriculum as the areas of mathematical process. Identifying the principles of assessment, we created the assessment model for each area and carried out a preliminary study. Based on this, we revised the representative items and the observation checklist and then conducted a main study. Through the results of assessment, we found that students' thinking processes were well presented in scoring rubric for their responses on each item. It meant that the purpose of the assessment as a criterion-referenced test was achieved.

  • In this research, the textbook contents related to the ionization degree of strong acid in water were analyzed from 1945 year syllabus to chemistry II textbook in 2009 revised curriculum. Fifty chemistry teachers' cognition related to the species of strong acid in water, and the relationship between the degree of ionization was surveyed by a questionnaire and interviews. As results, most of the teachers thought the species of strong acid in water based on the degree of ionization represented on the chemistry II textbooks. They didn't recognize the conflict of the degree of ionization and definition of strong acid on the textbooks, and then they awakened the conflict, they could not solve the problem.

  • Common Core State Standards for Mathematics(CCSSM) is a blueprint for school mathematics in 2010s of the United States. CCSSM can be divided into two major parts, the standards for mathematical content and the standards for mathematical practice. This study focused on the latter. Mathematical practice comes from the mathematical process in 'Principles and standards for school mathematics(NCTM, 2000)' as well as the mathematical proficiency in 'Adding it up(NRC, 2001)'. It is composed of eight standards which mathematically proficient students are expected to do. From Korean perspective, it can also be comparable with the mathematical process which contains mathematical problem solving, mathematical reasoning, and mathematical communication and was provided by the 2009 revised national curriculum for mathematics in Korea. However, few focused the standards for mathematical practice among the studies related to CCSSM in Korea. Moreover, there is a study that even ignores the existence of the standards for mathematical practice itself. This study aims to understand the standards for mathematical practice through analysing the document of CCSSM and its successive materials for implementing the CCSSM. This understanding will help effective implementation of the mathematical process in Korea.

  • The newly revised mathematics curriculum in 2009 mentioned the mathematics specified classroom. All schools in the secondary school will implement Mathmatics Subject Class System by 2014. Expecing to extend the mathematics specified classroom to the elementary school, this study explores the direction how to configurate and use it. On the ground of previous research on mathematics laboratory and mathematics subject class system, this study makes questionnaire and survey recognition and opinions about mathematics room in the elementary school with elementary school teachers. Based on the result of analysis of questionnaire, this study suggests math cultural experience room, room for mathematical recreation, mathematics specified classroom as the main functions of elementary mathematics room, and utilization of mathematics room to perform such functions. This study provides suggestions about elementary mathematics room differentiated from mathematics subject class system in the secondary school.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of multiple-choice test items used in assessment of high school integrated science according to 2009 revised curriculum. For the analysis of the tendency of item setting, we devised an analytic framework specific to integrated science, and analyzed the characteristics of items by applying the devised framework and item response theory. The results of the tendency of item setting revealed that most of items run counter to the intent of integrated science in terms of item resource, integration extent, and cognitive level, which means teachers are stick to separative method in teaching-learning and assessment of integrated science. The results of the analysis applying item response theory showed that item difficulty was appropriate and item discrimination was considerably high. However, there was no relevance between the tendency of item setting and qualitative characteristics of the items. We also discussed some agendas to improve the teaching-learning and assessment of integrated science based on the results of this study.

  • The purpose of this research was to investigation of elementary preservice teachers' understanding of the image observed in a diverging lens. To achieve the research purpose, Scientific inquiry activity of 'Observing Objects through a Diverging Lens' in the 2009 Revised Science Curriculum was carried out by 29 junior elementary preservice teachers, and preservice teachers' difficulties were analyzed during scientific inquiry activity. The results were as follows. First, preservice teachers had difficulties in comparing the size of the images. Second, preservice teachers couldn't correctly explain the reason about the changing of the image size according to distance from the lens to the object. Third, preservice teachers couldn't correctly explain the changing of the image size according to distance from the lens to the eyes. Fourth, preservice teachers were classified into five levels according to their conceptions of the image formation by the diverging lens, and most of them stayed in the first level. The result of this research suggests that reformations in text and preservice teachers' education.
