A paleomagnetic investigation was carried out to analyze magnetostratigraphic information and to evaluate the relationship between paleoenvironment and magnetic properties in sedimentary sequences of piston cores recovered from the abyssal basin of the southwestern Pacific. Pateomagnetic results revealed that the sediments had a stable remanent magnetization and recorded both normal and reversal polarities. The age of sediments was from late Pliocene and Pleistocene determined by matching the polarities with the geomagnetic time scale. The sedimentation rates were in the range of 0.63-1.85 mm/$10^3$ year which were extremely low rates. The results of the paleomagnetic analyses indicated that intervals of the magnetically stable layers as well as high value of susceptibility were significantly affected by the input changes which resulted input of large-quantity materials of relatively stable magnetic carriers.

A total of 111 independently oriented core samples were drilled at 12 sites in fue Kimpo area ($37.70^{\circ}N$, $126.55^{\circ}E$) of the Taedong Supergroup. The Taedong strata are composed of sandstone, conglomeratic sandstone, shale and thin coal seams. The age of the strata is known to be Late Triassic-Early Jurassic according to freshwater Esfuerites and plant fossil (Dictyophyllum-Clathropteris flora) contents. Through AF and thermal demagnetization, an area-mean ChRM direction of $D=48.3^{\circ}\;I=40.3^{\circ}\;{\alpha}_{95}=7.9^{\circ}\;k=59.5$, n=7 was obtained. It passed fold and reversal test in the formation-mean level. Fold test was not significant in the area-mean level. The palaeomagnetic north pole calculated from the area-mean lies at $46.3^{\circ}N$, $222.0^{\circ}E$ with dp=5.7, $dm=9.5^{\circ}$. This pole position is very similar to those of the South China Block (SCB) in Triassic times. Palaeolatitude of the Kimpo area in the Taedong times was $23.0^{\circ}N$, again very similar to the palaeolatitude of the South China Block in the Late Triassic. This low latitude of the study area at the time of deposition explains the tropical-subtropical nature of fossil contents of the Taedong Supergroup.
A total of 264 independently oriented core samples were collected from 26 sites in the southwestern part (the Naktong Trough) of the Cretaceous $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Basin in south Korea. The sampled formations comprise the sedimentary Shindong and the Hayang Groups of the Lower Cretaceous age. Alternating field and thermal demagnetizations were conducted. Characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) was relatively easily isolated in each formation except in the Chinju formation, from which only remagnetization circles were observed. Even though an extensive use of the fold test was not possible due to the nearly homoclinal nature of the strata in the area, we believe that the ChRM of each formation is of primary origin based on the following grounds: The in-situ ChRM direction of each formation is different from the present geomagnetic field direction. Fisherian precision parameter becomes enhanced through the tilt correction in all formations, closely to the values required for a positive fold test. Three out of the five studied formations pass the reversal test. The mean palaeomagnetic pole position from the studied area is found to be statistically different from the contemporary pole from the Chinese block exclusive of the Shandong area. The difference in magnetic declination suggests a $14.5^{\circ}$ (${\pm}10.5^{\circ}$) clockwise rotation of the studied area relative to the Chinese block comprising the west of the Tan-Lu fault. On the other hand, any significant difference in magnetic inclination and concurrent palaeolatitude is not observed between the studied area and China as well as the other area (Taegu-Andong area) in the $Ky{\check{o}}ngsang$ Basin. The dual nature of the magnetic polarity confirmed in all formations suggests an older than 124 Ma (Neocomian or older) age of the studied sedimentary strata.

Recently, many linear motion generators and motors are rapidly finding applications that ranges from short stroke linear motion vibrators, such as dynamic cone type loudspeakers to stirling engine driven linear reciprocating alternators, compressors, textile machines etc. The stroke-length may go up to 2m, and the maximum speed is in the range of 5 to 10m/s with oscillating frequency as high as 15 kHz. Therefore, the linear oscillating actuators(LOAs) may be considered as variable speed drivers of precise controller with stoke-length and reversal periods during the reciprocating motion. In this paper, the design, fabrication, experiments, and extraction of control parameters of a moving coil type LOA for driving of linear reciprocating motion control systems, are treated. The actuator consists of the NdFeB permanent magnets with high specific energy as the stator produced magnetic field, a coil-wrapped nonmagnetic hollow rectangular bobbin structure, and an iron core as a pathway for magnetic flux. Actually, the design is accomplished by using FEM analysis for the basic configuration of a magnetic circuit, and characteristic equations for coil design. In order to apply as the drivers of a linear motion reciprocating control system, the control parameters and circuit parameters, such as input voltage-stoke, exciting frequency-stoke, coil inductance and so on, are extracted from the analysis and experiments on concerning a fabricating LOA.

Reports about the intrusion of a natural tooth bounded by implants are very rare, although some concerns have been discussed on the intrusion of teeth connected to implants. A female aged 56 years received an implant (mandibular right first premolar) and post/core onto root rest (mandibular right second premolar) and was restored by single zirconia crown, respectively. Molars were implant restorations. Four month after loading, second premolar was intruded and prominent gap was shown between opposite tooth. Because nonspecific discomfort was expressed, observation was decided after explanation of prognosis of tooth without treatment. Three month later reversal to original position was detected on the periapical radiographs and fully recovered position with intimate contact was completed 11 more months later. Till now 2 years and 3 month observation is being performed. Through the observation of spontaneous recovery of a natural tooth bounded by implants, the cause of intrusion and a mechanism of spontaneous recovery could be estimated.
This study investigates how Korean traditional family consciousness interacts with Korean industrialization in the 1970s. In Our Children, Lee Sun depicts a family's struggle within the turmoil brought about by rapid industrialization to escape from the ranks of the working class. It is well known that one of the consequences of industrialization was the breakup of the larger family structure into nuclear families, but Lee Sun presents Korea's industrialization in the 1970s in the light of the traditional Korean family culture before the breakup. In other words, he gives us a portrayal of Gemeinschaft in Gesellschaft in his description of the extended family's struggle to overcome the day-to-day pressures of modernization and urbanization. The novel presents three generations of a traditional extended family. The eldest son is portrayed as a knife, strong and sharp. His wife has a temporary job that she hopes to give up once they own a house, which symbolizes the family's escape from the working class. The relationship among the family members reveals the core aspects of the ideology governing traditional extended families: the husband is the despotic monarch of the household, solely responsible for the family's economy; the husband is the sky and the wife the earth; and children (the more the better) are expected to lead to stability, welfare, and prosperity. One curious aspect of this family relationship as portrayed by Lee Sun is the expectation that being the eldest son, who already is or will become the patriarch of the family, is the fastest way of reaching middle-class status. And, despite a slight reversal, the novel has a happy ending wherein the family's expectations are fulfilled without much suffering. This aspect should be considered in light of the revolutionary romantic idealism of the novels of the 1930s. The lack of suffering and the easy happy ending may be attributed to the fact that Korea's industrialization came about rapidly and radically, and therefore it is likely that Lee Sun was not able fully to appreciate the full costs of industrialization. This limitation calls for a deeper investigation into the social structure and class consciousness of the 1970s, and also a study of the intertextual relationship of Our Children with other novels of the time.
Basalt having lots of feldspar phenocryst occurred at the northern and southern slope of the Mt. Halla, Jejudo. Among them, the Sioreum trachybasalt in southern slope consists of abundant phenocrysts of plagioclase in aphanitic groundmass. And the number of plagioclase grains are about 20 per $10cm^2$, and based on 667 grains the sizes are 13~0.7 mm (average 4.23 mm) in length and 8.6~0.5 mm (average 2.3 mm) in width. In according to modal analyses, Sioreum basaltic rock consists mainly of plagioclase (16~28%), olivine, clinopyroxene (1.5~6%) and opaque minerals (~0.1%) of magnetite and ilmenite as phenocryst and microphenocryst and groundmass (60~82%). The compositions of plagioclase, olivine and clinopyroxene are bytownite~andesine, chrysolite~hyalosiderite, augite respectively. Plagioclase phenocrysts show different type of zoning, namely, normal, reversal, patchy, oscillatory type. The An contents of zoned plagioclase mainly increase from core to rim. Those of oscillatory type from core to rim show variations of increase following decrease or decrease following increase, being more enriched in rim or almost same to core. Under the microscope, some plagioclase phenocrysts are especially melted in core part or marginal part, or found as only the remnant remain which resulted from reaction with melt. Some clinopyroxene are also corroded in margin part or found as irregular shape resulted from melting. The characteristics of petrography and compositional variation from core to rim of plagioclase and clinopyroxene, indicate that they are disequilibrium with melt and has been undergone geological environmental changes in magma batch during crystallization including magma mixing with replenishment of more mafic and high temperature melt.
This study analyzes how much cost the power generation and energy sector in South Korea have to bear due to the introduction of emissions trading scheme during 2016 - 2017. To this end, the data on the seventh basic plan for long-term electricity supply and demand is applied to the electricity market simulation model called M-Core, and then the model forecasts carbon dioxide emissions to compare with the free emission allowances in the first national emissions permit allocation plan. The main results are as follows. Carbon dioxide emissions are estimated to be less in 2016 but more than the free emission allowances in 2017. When the price of the allowances is changed from \10,000/ton to \20,000/ton, the cost of purchasing the allowances is ranged from \70 billion to \140 billion. Under the assumption that CO2 cost is incorporated into the variable cost, a reversal of merit order between coal and LNG generation takes place when the price of the allowances exceeds \80,000/ton.
To identify and interpret the distribution and the characteristics of the gas hydrate layers in the Ulleung Basin, we have surveyed and gathered the multi-channel seismic data, Chirp sub-bottom profiler, SeaBeam and 12 m piston core samples since 1996. In previous works, high-resolution seismic profiles showed acoustic anomalies such as acoustic void, acoustic turbidity and pock mark which indicate the presence of gas-charged sediments. The patterns of horizontal degassing cracks originated from free methane expansion is the strong indicator of shallow gas-charged sediments in the core samples. The observation of submarine slides and slumps from destabilizing the sediments in the southern part of the Ulleung Basin may also point out that the gas had been released from gas hydrate dissociation during lowstand of sea level. The multi-channel seismic data show BSR, blanking and phase reversal. The gas hydrate layers above which large-scale shallow gases are distributed exist at the depth of about 200 m from the sea-floor with water depth of 2,100 m. From the interpretation of seismic sections in the southern Ulleung Basin, gas hydrate layers occur in the Pleistocene-Holocene sediments. These gas-charged sediments, acoustic anomalies and BSR may be all related to the existence of gas hydrate layers in the study area.
Palaeomagnesim of Paleozoic Tuwibong Type Sequence in Yemi area was studied with a total of 256 core-samples collected from 23 sites. The study area (geographical coordinates: 37.l8$^{\circ}$N, l28.610E) is located between Taebaek and Yongwol belonging to the northeastern part of the Okchon Belt. Thermal cleaning was a most effective method to extract stable characteristic remanent magnetization (ChRM) direction, even though AF cleaning also worked on some specimens. Mean ChRM direction of the Cambrian Hwajol Formation was different from the present-day field direction and showed maximum clustering (max. k value) at 100% bedding-tilt correction. However, it could not pass the fold test. Ordovician Makkol and Kosong Limestones as well as Permian Sadong and Kobangsan Formations have very weak NRM, and were remagnetized into the present-day field direction. ChRM directions from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation passed both fold and reversal tests. IRM experiments and blocking temperature spectrum indicate that both magnetite and haematite are carrier of the primary magnetization. Palaeomagnetic pole position from the Carboniferous Hongjom Formation is very similar to that of contemporary North China Block (NCB) suggesting that the study area was a part of, or located very near to, the NCB during Carboniferous.
