Interactive Genetic Algorithm for Content-based Image Retrieval

  • As technology in a computer hardware and software advances, efficient information retrieval from multimedia database gets highly demanded. Recently, it has been actively exploited to retrieve information based on the stored contents. However, most of the methods emphasize on the points which are far from human intuition or emotion. In order to overcome this shortcoming , this paper attempts to apply interactive genetic algorithm to content-based image retrieval. A preliminary result with subjective test shows the usefulness of this approach.

  • This paper reviews how to access the ergonomic information through internet-the world-wide computer networks. Recently, with the growth of hypertext type Internet-the WWW (World-Wide Web), it becomes much easier to access to the Internet and we can retrieve information very effeciently. In order to search the ergonomic information, this paper also reviews the famous Web search engines like Lycos, Web Crawler, and meta-indices like YAHOO. Also, useful Web-sites of ergonomics/human factors such as ErgoWeb are summarised.

  • Knapsack problems represent many business application such as cargo loading, project selection, and capital budgeting. In this research we developed a knapsack problem solver based on Martello-Toth algorithm using a relational database management system on the PC platform. The solver used the menu-driven user interface. The solver can be easily integrated with the database of decision support system because the solver can access the database to retrieve the data for the model and to store the result directly.

  • 본 논문에서 제안된 시스템에서는 실시간 MPEG-2 압축과 효과적인 색인 알고리듬을 사용한 기억장소로부터 복구된 비디오를 사용한다. 시스템은 넓은 군사범위, 인접한 부대에서 확산된 장소, 그리고 장거리 이미지 전송을 감시한다.

  • This paper describer a design expert system which determines the design values of shadow mask using Case-Based Reasoning. In Case-Based Reasoning, it is important to both retrieve similar cases and adapt the cases to meet the design specifications exactly. Especially, the difficulty in automating the adaptation process will prevent the designers from using the design expert systems efficiently and easily. This paper explains knowledge-based design support systems for shadow mask through neural network-based case adaptation. Specifically, we developed 1) representing design knowledge and 2) adaptive case-based reasoning method using RBFN (Radial Basis Function Network).

  • 본 연구는 하이퍼텍스트에 기반을 둔 서지정보검색 시스템을 구현하여 하이퍼텍스트 시스템이 구조화된 서지데이터의 브라우징 및 검색에 유용함을 보여주었고, 키워드검색기법을 적용하여 이용자의 방향상실문제를 보완하였다. 또한 WWW를 이용하여 시스템을 구현함으로써, 본 시스템의 장점 및 잠재력을 제시하였다.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to search the evidence such as a knife found in the crime scene based on GHT from an image database Such objects like knives are simitar in shape. The proposed method utilizes the small shape differences among objects as much as possible to distinguish an object from similar shaped objects. It consists of the GHT based candidate generation and top-down candidate verification. For the fast generation of the candidate 1ist, the GHT operation is performed un the down sampled edge list. The test results show that it can retrieve the correct object even with a pan of object in reasonable time.

  • In this paper, MIIS (Medical Image Information System) has been designed and implemented using INGRES RDBMS, which is based on a client/server architecture. The implemented system allows users to register and retrieve patient information, medical images and diagnostic reports. It also provides the function to display these information on workstation windows simultaneously by using the designed menu-driven graphic user interface. The medical image compression/decompression techniques are implemented and integrated into the medical image database system for the efficient data storage and the fast access through the network.
