The congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung consists of an enlarged, meaty, multicystic lobe with smooth-walled cysts of varying sizes, which can communicate with major bronchi through malformed air passages that usually lacks cartilage. This abnormality is usually symptomatic in infancy with signs of respiratory distress such as tachypnea, substernal retraction and cyanosis. Prompt surgical resection is choice of treatment in life-threatening respiratory distress patients. We recently experienced a case of congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation of the lung in a patient with situs inversus totalis. The patient was 40 days old female who showed severe respiratory difficulty. Emergency left middle lobectomy was undergone successfully. Her postoperative course was uneventful. She was discharged from hospital on the postoperative eighth day in good condition.
Strong convergence theorems on viscosity approximation methods for finding a common zero of a finite family accretive operators are established in a reflexive and strictly Banach space having a uniformly G$\hat{a}$teaux differentiable norm. The main theorems supplement the recent corresponding results of Wong et al. [29] and Zegeye and Shahzad [32] to the viscosity method together with different control conditions. Our results also improve the corresponding results of [9, 16, 18, 19, 25] for finite nonexpansive mappings to the case of finite pseudocontractive mappings.
The patient, 18-year-old girl, had a class III malocclusion with the lateral compression of the maxilla due to the premature loss of the canines, mild mandibular prognathism, and mouth breathing habit. The treatment plan consisted of 1) rapid maxillary expansion 2) a period of retention 3) extraction of the first mandibular premolars instead of surgical correction 4) completion of orthodontic treatment with multibanded system. The maxilla was separated in the midline by the application of orthopedic forces via a cemented rapid maxillary expansion device. After 18 months, She gained functional overbite-overjet relationship, good interdigitation of buccal segments, and facial harmony due to the retraction of lower anterior teeth.
A 23 year-old female with skeleto-dentoalveolar protrusion of maxilla, minor broken contact points between anterior teeth, and missing of lower 1st molars, has been treated with multibanded edgewise technique. After treatment of 14 months, she has gained functional overbite-overjet relationship and facial harmony due to the retraction of upper anterior teeth. Root resorption was slight. Especially, us ing the space of missed lower 1st molars instead of extracting lower premolars, expected and favorable results were obtained.

Subcutaneous facial emphysema after dental treatment is an uncommon complication caused by the invasion of high-pressure air; in severe cases, it can spread to the neck, mediastinum, and thorax, resulting in cervical emphysema, pneumomediastinum, and pneumothorax. The present case showed subcutaneous cervicofacial emphysema with pneumomediastinum after class V restoration. The patient was fully recovered after eight days of conservative treatment. The cause of this case was the penetration of high-pressure air through the gingival sulcus, which had a weakened gingival attachment. This case indicated that dentists should be careful to prevent subcutaneous emphysema during common dental treatments using a high-speed hand piece and gingival retraction cord.
A typical disk brake system consists of caliper housing, piston, seal and two pads etc. The configuration of seal groove, dimension of piston and seal, and seal material properties are important ones for brake performance, as these affect the retraction of piston. The rubber seal is designed to perform dual functions of sealing the brake oil at brake-applied and retracting the caliper piston at brake-released. In this paper, the seal stress is analyzed using Finite Element Method and experiment is conducted by Taguchi's Method. We attempt to quantify the critical design factors in the seal groove and evaluate their impact on some of brake performance factors. The investigation obtained from this study can not only enhance the seal groove design optimization, but also reduce product prototype testing and development time.
Congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation[CCAM] is a rare disease that cause respiratory distress in the newborn and infants, but is one of the two causes along with lobar emphysema. This malformation has the pathologic characteristics which can be differentiated from other forms of diffuse cystic disease, i.e. CCAM is marked proliferation of the terminal bronchioles and that can enlarge rapidly by air trapping in cystic areas. The CCAM has a clinical importance because of rapid worsening respiratory distress, with tachypnea, subcostal retraction and cyanosis. This is a strict surgical condition and after operation[lobar, segmental resection or pneumonectomy] the symptoms relieved obviously. We experienced 6 cases of CCAM from July, 1980 to September, 1987 at the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery, Severance Hospital, College of Medicine, Yonsei University. The male patients were two and female patients were four. The age distribution was from premature to 10 year old. One of them was 27 weeks gestational premature female who was borne dead. The other 5 patients were performed on thoractomy[1 case pneumonectomy and 5 cases lobectomy]. The postoperative courses were good and no complications were seen.
Constrictive pericarditis is often accompanied with ~brothorax and deterioration of cardiac, hemodynamic functions. Surgical relief of fibrous peel causes remarkable improvement in pulmonary, cardiac, hemodynamic function, and subjective symptoms. We experienced 4 cases of constrictive pericarditis combined with bilateral ~brothorax after bilateral pleural effusion caused by tuberculosis and non-specific inflammation. Pleural decortication and pericardiectomy were done at the same time through anterolateral thoracotomy with sternal transection[3 patients] and median sternotomy incision[l patient]. Low cardiac output was the most common complication. With left anterolateral thoracotomy, we could prevent the hypotension from massive retraction for dissecting by median sternotomy, which was good for dissecting from anterior wall of left ventricle to posterior wall of left ventricle and surrounding phrenic nerve. It was enough to dissect the portion being through hard to dissect, right atrium, SVC and IVC.

A continuous tool-path, that is to cut continuously with the minimum number of cutter retractions during the cutting operations, is developed in order to minimise the fluctuation of cutting load and the possibility of chipping on the cutting edge in HSM (high-speed machining). This algorithm begins with the offset procedure along the boundary curve of the sculptured surface being machined. In the of offset procedure, the offset distance is determined such that the scallop height maintains a constant roughness to ensure higher levels of efficiency and quality in high-speed machining. Then, the continuous path is generated as a kind of the diagonal curve between the offset curves. This path strategy is able to connect to neighbor paths without cutter retractions. Therefore, the minimum tool retraction tool-path can be generated And, it allows the sculptured surface incorporating both steep and flat areas to be high-speed machined.
The time-dependent frequency and energy of free vibration of the spagetti problem, that is the axially moving continuum with time-varying length, are investigated. Exact expressions for the natural frequency and time-varying vibration energy are derived by dealing with traveling waves. The vibration period increases with increasing length, but the free vibration energy decreases. When the string undergoes retraction, the vibration energy increases with time. The free response of the time-varying string is represented by superposing two traveling waves.
